    I got mine for $97 on sale. Baby blue. It has a bad buzz due to a Grounding issue somewhere but after shielding the pickup cavities, running grounding wires and shielding the control cavity, now it is dead silent. I also re soldered my Jack just to be safe. The setup was great and fret ends felt nice and the fretboard was rounded. 🤷‍♂️ my fretboard was a nice dark Purple Heart. Seems like yours is laurel or pao ferro?

      You have to use a soldering iron and remove the wires at the old jack the resolder the wires onto the new jack. It's not that hard but does require a few tools.

    I have to try this. I have a beauiful Classic Vibe 60s Custom Telecaster that has upgraded hardware, including bridge, electronics, switch and pickups. It plays and sound great... but it is noisy. I have have been told by two luthiers that the noise is normal for single coils, but I have quite a few other single coil guitars, including an American Standard Telecaster and they're not noisy. I really love this guitar but the electrical noise really ruins the experience for me. If I touchthe bridge plate the sound stops. Touching the strings help but there is still a bit of noise. But otherwise there is that constunt hum or however you describe it.

    • @pawnshopguitarguy
      @pawnshopguitarguy 3 місяці тому

      I have seen some Tele pickups (especially hot ones) that are prone to noise, but a hum that stops when you ground the bridge with your hand tends to be something with the grounding. I would check or even re-solder the grounds. Good luck!

      If you’re particularly paranoid about it, you’re better off using shielding paint. I used to have an LTD Snakebyte and even though it had active electronics, the cavities had shielding paint (no pick guards), but active pickups are already pretty well shielded. Lace pickups are even quieter and require no additional shielding on the guitar.

    For me; 125.00 from GC, one slightly high fret (13) to level and sharp fret edges to polish up (no fret sprout) . Raised the pickups. The neck was spot on, I found no ground issues and the pickups sound great to me. I have an advantage over other beginners in that I can do the setup myself. Overall I really like this guitar. A setup would have run 100.00 if I had taken it to a good shop, so at 225.00 in my opinion it is still a good deal.

    Got this guitar delivered today. Pretty well set up right out of the box. Plays well and all it really needs is a little fret polishing and light sanding on the ends and it's ready to go. I'm just wondering how you get the screw driver in to adjust the bridge for the middle strings if I need to fix the intonation. Seems like you did the low E and that was pretty easy to reach. Ideas?

    • @pawnshopguitarguy

    I have one of those new relic'd FFST's and it's phenomenal for the money! It actually has one of the best playing necks I've ever played. It did have a couple flaws such as the output jack had to be screwed in further and the tuners were the worst I've seen in a while but I can't believe how level all the frets are! I pay to get my guitars plek'd and it's just as good as those as far as having low action with no problems!

      They should be good enough as long as your amp and speaker are good. Honestly with all the effects used in that demo no one is gonna be able to tell the difference between them. I’ve never had to change my pickups to get good tone. Learning how to dial your amp will do worlds more to change your tone than a pickup swap will. Only reason to change any electrical components is if they’re producing a ton of noise. Hoping this saves you a few hundred bucks. Rock on!

      If you ran through the entire setup and it still buzzes the slots in the nut are probably cut too deep. They can be built back up with baking soda and Superglue but you would need nut slotting files to shape the slots correctly if it's only couple of them but if it's all the strings you can pop the nut off and place a small slice of wood under it and glue it back down to add the little bit of height back. @@IrlPunker

    I bought a used 5 string model. I was surprised because there wasn't a scratch on it anywhere. It still had the plastic on the pickguard. Took it home and did a setup only to find the same issue with the G String. The D string was able to be adjusted, but the saddle was nearly on the deck to get it close enough. I contacted Fender and was assured that they had not had issues with the bridges on these guitars. Turned out it has enough neck twist to cause the problem. It went back to the store. I found another used one at a different store. It set up perfectly and is a real joy to play.

    • @pawnshopguitarguy

      The ground will be in line with the shaft of the plug and the tip is hot so you have to identify which contact goes to the correct tab in the jack by where they are located on it. Or use a volt meter and test it for continuity once it's out to determine which tab goes to each contact
