I have Legacy of Rage on MegaStar dvd from Hong Kong, I have the Fox dvd release from 2004 and my brother has the shout dvd from a few years back. I catch this a lot on Hi-Ya’s live channel too. It’s great this has a new blu ray release and will also be included in the Golden Harvest box set from Shout coming soon. Now many more people can see this movie.

I really like this film. Tchéky Karyo for me, makes a fantastic villian. I'm also a huge fan of Bridget Fonda. But I'm 100% with you that Unleashed is better - my personal favourite of all his western films (I think...) ...save it for a stream? Good video. Pen, paper, Jet Li films...

1 of my and my uncle's favorite flick along with Shaolin Temple pt 3 with Jet Li GM Lau did his thing on that film you should also check out Wong Yu's Kid from Kwantung with Hwang Jang Lee underrated

Anybody remember the name of the old movie that had the trio of heroes... a beggar, #1 student, and the bad kid. The bad kid's job was to poke the villian in the butt (the weak spot) with a nail he had on his head, while #1 student was keeping the villain busy.

I recently bought this together with Legacy of Rage, it's been many years since i last saw this movie,and it was the English dub,so looking forward to watch it in it's original version

I love 5 Super fighters but I think Monkey kung fu (directed by the same director ) is better, not by much though. As for underrated Shaw films, I could easy write you a list, but 3 to start - The black tavern , Bloody parrot and What price honesty ?

Robert Patrick steals the film in my opinion, and does it effortlessly. He makes everyone else look like amateurs by comparison.

As strictly a kung-fu flick through and though, it’s easily one of the most remarkable. The intricate fight choreography is just icing on the cake.

Curious to see what you pick, many people don't understand the different strands of HK cinema (Wuxia and Kung Fu) let alone the Fu sub-genres. FYI, the only films that I'd say partly qualify as Heroic Bloodshed that have any Fu quotient are A Bloody Fight (1988) and Tiger On Beat (1987). As a categorisation "Basher" simply refers to the non-descript nature of the action, the focus is on brutality, not stylisation (often coinciding with somewhat darker narrative material). A prime example of a Basher is one of my personal favourites - The Bloody Fists (Directed by the legendary Ng See Yuen) starring the ever-awesome Chen Sing and Chen Kuan Tai. No long description required :) On a side note, I never rated Joseph Kuo that highly as a Filmmaker, he's passable/competent at best IMO. Now, Lee Tso Nam - there's somebody who REALLY deserves a box set of his own. I don't agree with assessment of ETD, it was inevitable that Lee would make a "big" movie irrespective of the success of FFoD. Numerous studio execs had caught on to Lee's profitability in Asia as well as his popularity Stateside through The Green Hornet. Factor in the emergence of various Martial Arts in the States, it was always going to happen. The trouble with the real Bruce Lee story is that there's so much nonsense out there (including Dragon The Bruce Lee Story - a film I love tbh) that have misinformed too many people and too many talking heads have spouted nonsense to sell a story (which ends up becoming the official narrative lmao). I once heard an "expert" claim on a commentary track that the Nunchaku Ping Pong clip of "Bruce" was legit - I almost died of laughter but sadly I've heard several reactors/UA-cam Reviewers parrot this nonsense lmao. Fist of Fury is too stylised to be a Basher IMO.

As a kid, I loved it. I also never managed to get to level 3 on the arcade version of the game. I think I only rewatched it once as adult. Yea it's mainly for children back in the day.

While I think this film has aged badly (then again, it’s more like a product of its time. Pure 90’e cheese!), I do think it’s entertaining. It’s a shame there’s no big throw down at the end but it has this sense of fun throughout, that makes it very easy to watch. I don’t mind this cut. It’s light and breezy. I would like to see the HK cut though.

Fun(?) Fact? The realtor at the beginning of the movie starred with Cheng Pei Pei in 'Come Drink with Me' in 1966 and The Shadow Whip in 1971. Solid 90's Jackie Chan.... A Tier: Supercop and Drunken Master II B Tier: Who Am I? and Rumble in the Bronx C Tier: Mr. Nice Guy, Rush Hour.
