Haunters rule!
Yes we do!
I'm planning on using this on my plastic Toyota Tundra running boards. Any tips? Thanks.
How much of this stuff did you use ? Did a quart do everything you showed it sure would of been helpful if you gave that information.
I used about 1.5 quarts.
That is the thickest and heartiest application of Herculiner I've ever seen.
Yup, it needs to be thick, this is an off road jeep not a mall crawler, close encounters with rocks & trees is a frequent occurrence & I wanted it to be durable.
Thanks so much for the review my dude, as an amateur video guy & long time jeeper I try to do the best I can on here reviews & making the videos. Keep her low & slow & see you on the trail!
Good review video. Out of all the reviews I’ve seen of this product you’re the first one I’ve seen that the tape was defective. Easy to replace with some good 3M double sided tape but like you said, you shouldn’t have too. Also, customer service says a lot about a company. Too bad you had a bad experience with that. Keep up the good work from one Jeeper to another.
I learned long ago the powder coating is a POS. It looses its shine quickly and soon after a piece will break off and moisure will get to the metal and rusting will begin. I just stripped off all the wasted PC off my motorhome steps and gave them a good coat of truck bed liner. I just bought a new truck and am preparing to coat the bed. The reason so much stuff comnes powder coated is that factories have found it is quicker & cheaper to PC than to spray paint with a high quality auto paint. !
Agreed.
How many 4 by 4's do I need to have? How long does the cribbing need to be?
Good questions! The ideal amount of cribbing to be carried is entirely dependent on a few factors such as what type of apparatus are you using it on, how much space to you have to store it, what other stabilization tools do you have & what the operational needs are. Offhand I would say that a typical class A engine should probably have 2 stepchocks 2 wedges & at least a dozen pieces of 4x4 cribbing but that’s just an umbrella statement, it’s all pretty much depending upon your needs & storage. Obviously a rescue or heavy rescue would be carrying far more than that. In fact, I have asked that question to most of the heavy rescue guys I have trained with & their answer is “never enough” ha ha ha. As far as specific lengths go I probably would not go shorter than 16” & not longer than 24”. Whatever length you cut though make sure it’s cut to a multiple of 4 (16” 20” 24”) so you can stack the same amount of crib on top of each other without big gaps or overlap. Ours are cut to 24” long which is pretty standard to most of the other agencies surrounding us so we can use each others cribbing on complex scenes needing more crib but also, 24” is how deep our compartments are so that worked out perfectly for us.
Love that stuff, just did my grill & headlights trim on my silverado.
Great video, keep up the great work!!
Thanks, will do!
What size of magnets and nuts did you use in this?
I used 2-3-4mm magnets depending on the size of the walls or terrain & Hillmans 10-24 zinc plated nuts.
very nice
Still plotting here. Very similar to what I have been contemplating. Great vid. On the rattle can thing. Add some distance. Most brands are a source of melting problems, if you hit hard and close. Takes longer, but the painters rule applies. Many lite coats perform best.
Hey Troop... I just finished rewrapping a couple of my bigger handled tools using this method and all I can say is WOW!!! Excellent advice and I appreciate your detailed information. The Renfrew tape using the twisted method is awesome. Thanks.
You are most welcome! Glad that worked out for you, just one thing, make sure you’re wearing good work gloves when you use your tools, that tape will tear your hands up in no time flat!
I'd use 240 grit ?? I dont know the product assum it fills nicely 6:44 it should be mix with a drill you can get a really small stir blade I'd thin it down after mixing use a brush with a paint on then dabbing while the product dries
I think your fog chiller in the coffin is brilliant! It doesn't look out of place at all! In fact if a person was to use more than one fog machine like you do, having them all in coffins would be awesome! And people wouldn't know where the fog was coming from unless they saw it pumping it out. Thanks for sharing!
You are very welcome! Good luck!!
Came here for the coffin tutorial, need to know where you got that helmet!
Ha ha ha very good. Hasbro Black series Star Wars helmets. Don’t know if they’re in production anymore, you can go to their website & check or maybe eBay.
Hello! We have a UA-cam channel and would like to know if we could use some of your content from this video. Of course we'll give you a good credit for that which would give you hundreds even thousands of views bringing you more subscribers. Please let me know if that is OK? Thank you!
Great tip!
Glad you think so!
The coffins are a great idea, thanks for sharing. 🎃
Glad you like them!
Thanks for sharing!! 🪦
My pleasure!!
Hello, Thanks for your tutorial. I love the effect. What kind of mister did you get and where can I buy one. ? Thanks!
& thank you for the feedback! I’m not sure of the exact brand of misters but I got them off of Amazon, they have several different ones but they all have similar features.
Fill up some gallon jugs with water and freeze them. Reusable ice for the cooler.
Except gallon jugs won’t fit in this particular set up but I do use some frozen canteens & water bottles.
Your builds are awesome. Thanks for sharing with us.
Hey It’s been awhile how’s the bumper holding up ??
Pretty dang good! I’m actually going to do a follow up video in a few weeks. As I mentioned the Herculiner fades into a dark dingy grey after about a year but a little bit of black satin spray paint made it look brand new again!
So what does it do
It chills the fog so it hugs the ground, you can watch my Widefield Hallows Halloween video to see the effect.
Great idea. I have a carport and was thinking the same idea, just was not sure how to build it where it would be sturdy enough to stand the wind we can get here at times on Halloween night.
I'm sorry but how is this cheap (cost of fog machine) or DIY (use of fog machine)?
Cheap is a relative term. All in it cost me less than $60 to put it together. That’s pretty cheap. The mister was only $20.
Amazing!!! Great idea. 😎🤙
Thank you!
The idea of catching a buzz while being creative surely helps me
Indeed! Though there is a fine line between liquid assisted inspiration & “I can’t read the tape measure anymore” 😂
Man! A coffin! Ive been running tubing all over my yard to get fog around the cemetary...and i HATE how it looks. Definitely building a coffin or two now and plopping it all right in the center. Thanks!!
Your welcome! Glad I could help!!
@@trooper1348 Quick question if you don't mind - is there any downside of just running the fog machine straight into the chiller (no ducting inside the chiller) right to the exhaust port? That's how I have my chiller setup right now (with a booster fan at the exhaust as well)
So for my coffin chillers I tried removing the ducting once & it it didn’t work very well. About half of the fog just ended up staying inside the coffin & what did come out didn’t seem to be as cold.
You can probably put a little wood filler or acrylic paste on the nuts, and they will still attract the magnets just fine and make the floor look better.
Probably.
Looks great!
Thank you!
Good look at a classic and a great tip with the nuts! I am currently in the process of stripping back some of my more complex dungeon terrain to a more simplistic tile system as a future episode and I think that I will definitely delve into the potential of the nuts as it certainly makes sense! Keep em' coming :)
Thanks for the feedback!
Great video. Would be awesome if you could link a few supplies in your description section.
Great suggestion I think I can oblige you.
Can you make it where the lights in the fountain just stay one color?
Yup.
How did you make the fire under the cauldron? Looks so real!
That is a little unit I bought off of Amazon. Basically it’s 3 red LEDs & a fan at the bottom which blows on to a bunch of red nylon ribbons for the flame effect. Thanks for the feedback!
Pretty cool, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the feedback!
Loved it, simple and really effective for dungeon making
Thanks for the feedback!
Put the fog chiller in the coffin ! 🤯⚰️ Why didn’t I think of that!?! Great idea! I will DEFINITELY be do this from now on! Thanks for sharing 👻
Glad I could help! Happy building & I hope you have a great Halloween!
I love this project & cant wait to make one! Would you mind sharing rhe dimensions or a link where we can get the cauldron? (& the misting LED?) 😊
The cauldron is about 16” wide & 10” deep. I got the cauldron, fog mister & fake fire off of Amazon.
@@trooper1348 Thanks so much! I've been on the lookout for a cauldron like that, but my local Walmarts only had mini ones, so the dimensions are a huge help.
Cold beer 🍺 ❤ HALLOWEEN 🎃
Did you project from the front or rear?
Projected from the front, that way the light coming from the projector wouldn’t be visible. The projector sits inside a styrofoam housing made to look like a headstone about 10’ in front of the screen.
@@trooper1348 Hey thanks. This was a great video. This will be my first go so trying to find out best positions.
@@jamiemaslar658 Th ask for the feedback. Yeah it took me several nights of playing around with different positions & distances to get the right effect. Glad you enjoyed the video hope it helped & good luck!
This stuff is incredible, and it is long lasting and very user friendly.
Agree on all counts, I don’t know why they don’t do away with shingles & just coat roofs with this stuff….
When I search “hockey tape” at Lowe’s I get electrical tape. I would think that wouldn’t adhere to the metal hammer I want to tape. And I think there are different thicknesses. What should I use and where can I find it? Thank you.
Like I said in the video, Renfrew friction hockey tape is the best I have used so far & what I recommend, yeah most hardware stores don’t carry hockey tape, you will have to find it at a sporting goods store that has hockey equipment. I bought mine on line from a hockey supply store though I don’t remember which one.
Empire cheaping out on good respirators for their hard working storm troopers. Its a travesty.
Looks good man! Thanks for the advice on keeping the rim clean so you can close it. That would have been an expensive mistake
Glad I could help & May all your rolls be 20’s!
Yeah and once it's on everything, it stays on everything. I built a outdoor handicap ramp and used this to waterproof the wood, and provide a gritty non slip surface. Wear rubber gloves and clothes you won't mind tossin in the garbage.
Very Accurate observation & great tip!
Want to do this on the hood of my sprinter van. I don't have an indoor work area. Do you think it's a problem doing this with the sun out in hawaii? Should i do it after the sun is down? Great video btw
I wouldn’t apply this in direct midday sun but if you put it on early in the morning or the evening I think it would be fine. I did the same thing to the hood of my old ‘93 F250. The hood was all beat up from hail & rusty, did a couple of coats, spray painted it white to match the rest of the truck & it looked great! Good luck!!!
Just some info , there is supposed to be a metal bracket behind your stereo that holds that screw in. A lot of aftermarket stereos require you to remove that bracket during installation because of the length of the head unit. Luckily I held on to mine for the last few years and could reinstall it before purchasing this mounting system. Hopefully my end result will be positive.
Cool, thanks for the insight.
So I’m doing a new bumper, that is bear steel. I have steam cleaned it, wiped it down with xylene, and sand blasted it. Should I prime it before applying Herculiner?
I don’t think it’s entirely necessary to do a primer coat before the Herculiner, the stuff sticks to just about anything so I don’t see why it wouldn’t stick to bare metal. Me personally I would probably do a primer coat just to help adhesion but I think it would work fine without it. Just make damn sure every square inch is covered, any tiny bit of bare metal could start to rust & May start allowing it to peel off.
