I'm currently thinking about possibly moving to Corvallis area. However let me be bluntly honest. Honesty IS the best policy. Even when it stings a little. I feel that the gentleman who made this video is biased being he is a local realtor. So of course he benefits from people moving there and possibly going through him for housing. That being said, I wish there was a no thrills unbiased tell it like it truly is report of the area. I have found more in the comments section of those who have or are living there. The train blasting its horn is one concern, as well as gray skies for 9 months out of the year, is a lot to consider. I suppose I could get used to those things. However... The PRICE of rentals are UNREAL!!!... $ 1,200-$1,550. for a nice clean safe apartment!!!? I currently pay half that for a two bedroom apartment here in eastern Arizona. I'm just completely tired of the HEAT here for 5+ months out of the year. Too hot to get out and want to do anything. The housing/rentals prices is what is a major concern/downer for me, in Corvallis.

I remember years ago overhearing one person who had moved to Corvallis from Utah telling another person who had just made the same move “you’re going to want to die in the winter, but you’ll get used to it”.

I had thought of moving to Oregon and spent last winter in Corvallis. I rarely saw the sun and it became depressing. You can't spend much time outdoors in the winter because it's always raining and the trails are muddy. Corvallis is a small town. The population is mostly white. If you are from a big city the cultural scene is limited with no major venues for music, theater, or dance. The restaurant choices are also limited if you are used to a wider variety. I think Corvallis would be good for raising a family or going to OSU but if you want a wide variety of culture and diversity, Portland or Eugene is much better. (But not the climate.). Speaking of which, because of climate change, the summers are becoming much hotter and there are many days in the 80's and 90's. So, I decided not to move to Corvallis or Oregon.

It is very expensive to live here.

It makes a big difference if you choose a clear day for this drive. No smoke, no valley haze, no overcast. To the west you can see the Newport bridge and the sun reflecting off the Pacific. To the east you can see the major Cascade peaks from Rainier down to Diamond and maybe Thielsen.

Before you buy a house here make sure you spend a winter here. It is rainy most of the winter with little full sun.

Seriously? The kady in the video is so annoying I had to stop watching. Her fake laugh like Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop is so fake and annoying it ruins whole video. Kick her to the curb on future videos.

Surprisingly for a town supposedly built by friendliness, how many horribly arrogant entitled men there are,?... All these hippocrite conservatives exclaiming that children need to be disviplined more but all you see in this little sh*t hole is a bunch of morons spoilimg their sons, not the daughters but the sons as if we live in china or something?!? No wonder there are so many psychopathic, entitled men here... Ive never in my life been in a place were the men go out of their way to be rude, like trying to race me to an entrance of a business and not holding the door open which is quite the norm here. . It is not expected but its just a quality of being a nice kind good person is that regardless of gender you hold the door for the person behind you, you woupd think that in a place built by friendliness that people woupd have more manners but apparently the men. Are just too entitled to concern themselbes with anyone below them apparently... Just grateful that none of them have managed to run me over. Its not thsy they havrnt tried.. in this town, laws dont matter. If you want to cross the street, you have tp stand and wait and make eye contact with the driver and wait for him to wave you across the street...otherwise they totally ignore the laws of tge road and cops will always back up the white guy driving a big truck. Ive almost been run seripusly off the road 3 times and ive been almpst hit by a big truvk about 4 or 5 times... People are not nice here unlesd you share the exact same belief system as they do... I feel so incredibly abused by thos community and now struggle just yo leave my home. Im hoping to move away from here, its just hard becayse this type of treayment wears on you and affects your health... I would stay far far away from this town unlesd you also relate to psychopaths and wouod like to live in a psychopathic community wherr they claim to be christians but there actions prove differently... This os a town that values profit over quality and materialism over compassion. In the bible it says a rich man will have as hard of a time entering the gayes of heaven as it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.
