Install Frets using makeshift fret press and then file the ends down (to prevent shredding of the flesh off your hands when playing) Apply Boiled Linseed Oil to the neck. I like this better than a clear coat because it is smoother when playing imo. Hide a Concert Pin in the Pickup cavity as an Easter Egg to be found decades from now. Picking up where we left off… Drilled and glued Fret Markers onto the fretboard, then sanded them flush. Drilled holes for the string-through bridge and ferrules. Shaped the neck with Shinto Rasp using the facet method and sanded it to shape with the help of some StewMac neck templates. Cleaned the fret slots to get them ready for the fret installation (next video). Installed the side dot fret ...

Made some solid progress… drilled wire access holes in body, drilled the access for Input Jack, filed a fat Belly Carve, routed the channels for Truss Rod and Alignment Rods, trimmed the neck profile, and (last but not least) mounted the Fretboard. Next I'll start with adding the Fret Markers and possible start shaping the neck!

Awesome video; great view of the stage; thanks for posting - I just saw them last week. I appreciate these first person videos of shows like this.
Shut up chunt
Disappointing. I’d put on a better performance and actually use the mic
very cool! i like the music
You are too kind! Because of copyright reasons, I have to use music that isn't copyrighted (I share the video with funner tunes privately). It does have a smooth vibe!
Dude!!! Glad to see ya back on the tools 😊
Your comment made my day! I had FOE, Fear Of Editing videos lol, I'm going to film shorter videos and use mostly iPhone so I can focus more on building less on editing.
@13stitchesmagazine I hear that man... just glad to see you back in the basement. How is Maddie doing with the base?
@@gothridercreations she loves it! I was just at her new apartment and it is displayed proudly, she brings it home with her when visiting!
Очень, очень круто!
What the hell? 😮
Sickenbacker!
O cara é dahora que foi brincar até com o careca 😂😂😂.. ki banda arretada 😅😅😅😅
Hell yeah 🗿
that security guard looks confused as fuck hgaha
Now, let's see you build a Cliff Burton model.
Maybe someday, but the next bass I'll be attempting is a Telecaster Bass. I already have the plans and templates!
you've already convinced yourself you need to start over. its just a matter of doing it!
You are aboslutely right!
Negate
Thanks for this series, it looks great and sounds like a Rick especially in the lower register. Great job 👍 PS please treat yourself to a new soldering iron 😊
Thank you! Believe it or not, this is my upgraded soldering iron lol, my second stab at getting something on Amazon. I will be upgrading!
Well done especially with the binding but mine will definitely have a natural finish 😁
I agree with favoring the natural finish! It slows the build process a ton when you have to spray so many coats of finish, and god forbid you sand through your color coat. I haven't had to work around binding before, I'm not adverse to binding, but I definitely will favor thicker binding so I can show the edge without so much trouble.
Did he do the demo because you're right handed? I don't think I could demo a left handed build lol Ps glad you got it finished in the end.
Yes! (I could barely tune left handed 😂)
Sounds like a Ric!! Nice brother! I'm sure Madison will love it forever!✌️&💙
Thanks Todd! 🤘🏼
Come to New York PLEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEE Or how can I connect to your manager to bring you to NYC?
Jammer 🎉❤🎉
Lots of good stuff in your build series. Thanks for filming it for us. Not sure I would have had the patience to redo the finish but good on you for making it the way you want.
Thanks, appreciate that!
Nice work! Looking forward to hearing it
Thanks Dan 🙌🏼
Hope your dad is ok man, sorry im so late back to the party... You might want to check your camera or lights, your refreah rate when you ramp the speed of your footage is crazy
Thanks man 🙏🏼 The lights are LED in the garage and it causes the bars when the footage is sped up. Not sure how to fix that unless I switch out all the lights for incandescent.
@13stitchesmagazine try changing your frame rate from 50 to 60 FPS that might help... might not work but worth a try before changing all your bulbs 😀
@@gothridercreations I'll try that, thx!
That looks amazing. Youve done a tremendous job putting it together. You may have even inspired me to refinish my Ric! Madison is a lucky girl!!
🙏🏼
Thank you 🙏🏼
That came out so beautifully. Great job.
Finish is the toughest part for me. I've been working on a Music Man Stingray inspired bass for months that I've finished and sanded off twice now. I'm actually making a different body out of elm that I can oil finish so I can get the project done and work on the original body without the pressure (I just want to hear how it sounds!) Best of luck on the next steps
Right?! The finish is the toughest!
Live these giys!!
I followed your instructions perfectly and rubbed a thick layer of Peanut Butter all over my guitar. It's making a terrible mess everytime I play it my wife is getting annoyed
Ha! But I bet the dogs love it! lol
Thanks to Forza Horizon 5 I found that gem of a band! Keep rockin dudes! :)
Just found these guys. Reminds me of White Stripes on drugs.
Big time Scott Weiland vibes...especially that little shimmy he does towards the end of the song
Amazing! New favorite song
Sick ass video i was ther for scarlet bloom
I'd use car paints and finish with regular 1k matt clear, also car stuff. Matt has the advantage of looking great and no level sanding or buffing! Always a bonus lol. I do 3 coats, 15 minutes apart. Leave at least 24 hours then I'll very lightly sand any roughish feeling areas with 2000 grit dry. I hate trying to do a gloss finish, it gives me nothing but grief! 🤣
Prayers for your Dad and family. Can't wait to see your finished bass.
Thank you, much appreciated! 🙏
since you've waxed the guitar..all that wax in the areas you need to touch up will need to be removed before you do anything else..and that could create a bigger head ache.. not could but will!!...so If it was me I would start over sand everything down to the bare ass wood...
You are right! If starting from scratch, I will go down to the bare wood for sure!
This is what real Rock and Roll looks and sounds like.
Great to hear that sound is still kicking ass. Sound great.
A faraday cage is pretty much impossible to create in a guitar, I think of more like a bullet proof vest lol Exacto is just a brand I think, don't think they use them in hospital though 🤣 Bass is looking cool, best I got as a kid was a £50 pos lol
I think you're right on the Exacto. Stoked you are watching the videos, your builds are amazing and the craftsmanship is so great!
@13stitchesmagazine well I've watched upto the burn through and now I'm left in limbo about how it ended up lol
@@nsjguitarsakascotsman6989 I'm getting ready to jump back in, I got sidelined with crazy life stuff, but I think there's some light at the end of the tunnel!
Watching you scrape binding was enough to put me off doing that tbh 🤣
Ha! I was thinking of doing it again, but I may tape the wider part off when I repaint. Not sure about what to do with the thinner edge on top, I may need to scrape that… we'll see.
@13stitchesmagazine texas toast guitars tape it off, they use some 3m pin stripe stuff or something. Think you get stretchy stuff to make it easier.
@@nsjguitarsakascotsman6989 I think I remember that video, thought it would be too difficult to tape the thin edge, but I watch again. That may be a good option, thx!
Yoga matts are for guitatrs, if you want to do actual yoga take up auto electrics! 🤣 Ps the adapters for the pots are for if you're using 6mm shaft pots with 1/4 inch nobs.
You are so right, you need to be crazy flexible to install a car stereo 😝
Scott weiland
I have tried paint jobs 5 or 6 times, and I haven't had one that I've been happy with.
I hear you, painting is tricky!
that was a surprisingly short freeze there, I saw them on this tour in May and they held it for a good few minutes
Unpopular opinion, but I would just leave it as is and let Madison relic it herself over time when she joins the college band... 😂 Will still be the nicest bass on campus!
I'm tempted.
Nice work, and liking the spirit level-ing beam 😀
Glad you like it!
Remember that you are your own worst critic....don't add a different finish unless you KNOW that it is compatible. Looks great on tv. In 2 years you'll never notice it but in 2 weeks you'll probably notice it more......Rough call
The compatibilities of finish is what has me concerned. I'm thinking of z-poxy for filling, vinyl sealer, then blue. Finishing with True Boat Varnish or Saman Varnish. At least these finishes dry/cure much quicker than the spray I was using.
Not enough experience to give any advice. But I'll be excited to see what you do!
Sand it all off!! I'm on my third round with my GGBO build. With paint, never use a RO sander to wet sand!! Some car guys do that but it's a much larger surface and not nitro lacquer in most cases. Put your paper on a block and use that!! Start at 1200 and sand up to 2000 grit before you go to compound. You did really great on this bass brother and you'll never be satisfied knowing you left it in an unfinished state. Those are my 2 cents. Obviously it's your decision but you're close!! Peace & Love!!
I think you're right, thx for the feedback!
@@13stitchesmagazine I'm not trying to be a downer man. All I'm saying is that through watching all of your videos, like me you're a perfectionist. You'll always question if you should or shouldn't have redone the finish. If you do it, you'll never regret it and you'll come away from this with the knowledge you need to move on to the next one with way less fear of failure on your finish. That's how I look at it anyway. I love the bass brother.✌️🤍
Thx@@SweetTGuitars I'm leaning toward a redo. I need to figure out a better way to get the finish I want, this just may be the opportunity to do that!
