At this point the next Xbox will be more of a Xbox PC device. Microsoft is relying on the cloud and PC market to drive up GP subs.

Original Xbox was a quality console, 360 was a highpoint for the platform. But they've now hobbled their platform. For a new user why get a console that plays only Xbox games, when you can get a ps5 that also has xbox games. or even better a Steam Deck that has both xbox & playstation games. If valve releases their rumored console it will be interesting what happens to the market. I don't see xbox consoles existing by 2030.

Phil Spencer single handedly killed Xbox. I think people need to look at the long term health of Xbox and not just at exclusives.

I’m already 40, 44 in fact I lived though the Dreamcast and sega going 3rd party honestly I didn’t care for sega at that point mega drive to me was their last great console. I’m excited for gears on ps5 I got rid of xbox series x a long time ago. Microsoft totally ruined rare imo I will never forgive them for that.

I need Halo and Gears split screen, not enough to buy an xbox but there's a friend I'd love to play them with. Its funny that the Xbox CFO spilled the beans on that summit a year and some change ago at least a few months before the official announcement. A lot of people didn't understand whether that was copium or an inability to parse corporate/formal speech. Even in the articles denying it the quote's they used said it. (Made me feel smart for a second)

PlayStation have literally had to do almost nothing this gen and are still doing well 😂. Sony are definitely getting away from live service a little bit I think Nintendo are now going to be Sonys new rival.

The thing about the PC is the PC platform is expensive and some, if not most don't know how to build one. People who play games on console do it for want simplicity and convenience. They don't want to tinker around with settings or having to test things out. They just wanna download the game, sit back and play hours on end (usually after work) without the game crashing or having some kind of lag issue going on.

Not only do I think MS won’t make another Xbox console but I think once investors see the revenue coming in from software sales on PS5 and Switch 2, they will abandon the GamePass model all together.

The console is definitely the least important aspect of Microsoft's strategy at this point. I don't think it goes anywhere until after next generation possibly. I think Game Pass success over the course of the rest of this generation will be a big factor. I think now that the service seems to be getting a steady stream of games, if it doesn't see substantial growth over the next 5 years then they might end the brand. I also don't understand the mindset of it being Game Pass or owning and not more of both. I use the service the same way I use Spotify, which is to see if something is good enough to want to own it or if I would rather just use the service for said product. I might like a game or cd enough to want to continue playing them on each service, but not really feel they are worth having to own.

Halo 5 was a disaster....hearing halo infinite was a sh/t show....I simply didn't buy an xbox in 2020. After 19 years i had enough. It's an expensive hobby to not expect the basics. Buying a new box and gamepass will be over 800 bucks the first year of ownership...no thanks for me. I'd rather take that cash and use it for upgrades

What _"Identity crisis?"_ Is Netflix, Spotify or Amazon Prime or EA having a identity Crisis? They are a software publisher and software service now... the box is for minority people who don't own a PC or a device to use that software. I don't even own any game consoles or follow the drama around these billion (trillion in M$ case) companies who don't care about me... and I _STILL_ know this.

Xbox have really fucked it, I bought some cheap turkish game pass keys a while back at £40 a year i think, I still feel ripped off the past year or so. It essentially turned from something great for all gamers to something only good if you really like farming sims and pc strategy games. (And racers?) If they were competent theyd say heres an xbox app on pc that works fully with your existing library and heres Microsoft store versions of newer games. Cancel the next Xbox. I suspect they kind of want to do that but I suspect they're too incompetent to get it working, Ms ironically sucks at making software.

The problem is that even though the Xbox 360 was successful, they were really only successful in America(better sales than Sony). The PS3 sold better than the Xbox 360 in other countries. They really need to figure out how to make their console competitive outside the US against Sony.

I used to love Assassin's Creed. Got an Ezio figure in my living room. Haven't played any of the franchise in years because it just got bloated and it wasn't as much fun. Did really enjoy that London one though, which I played after seeing your playthrough of it. There's just too many games nowadays. Do you know what I miss? Playing a game several times. So many great games I love that I play once and then that's it.

PC gaming all the way, no games coming out on playstation that is not on PC. Just woke crap/poor quality games on playstation. Never thought id be considering a PC
