OPEN BUILDS LEAD 1515 CNC PLASMA TABLE

Overview of the lead 1515, Duet 3 6hc openbuildspartstore.com/lead-cnc-machine-1515-60-x-60/?ref=VPb7WJ8hG6YK7
When you going to start delivering to the UK guys? I have your plasma cutter which delivery to the UK was not an issue, but with the MR-1 it is.
“If you’re over 4’ tall” I’m 5’2, looks like I’m tall enough for this mod. 😂
This thing is beautiful! I ended up building my own smaller version since the price was a little too high for my needs. Mine is definitely not good enough to be a cnc router like this, but does plasma just fine, i also added a manual Z axis with a knob just to make it easier with the laser engraver boards im using.
I laughed so hard about the divorce lawyer. When you said you set this up on your kitchen table, I thought you were either single or had the most understanding wife in the world. 🙄😅. Make her something nice.
Thanks for the video. I’m enjoying watching the journey you took assembling the machine. What with the “WE”, kemosabe? Is there a production company involved? 😂
They put it back there to dupe you out of $20.00 for their shut off extension and $54.00 on their garden hose sprayer. Thanks now I can treat my family to some high dollar cuisine I should have just enough to get 3 meals and maybe a kids fry if I'm lucky
Update: so they got their meals 2 10 piece nuggets and a bigmac $47.00 a mcdonalds added $25.00 to my gas tank and I'm a ⅛" above E now with the 5 gallons that bought saved myself 2 bucks for a small kids happy meal size paper bag french fry cost considering a whole 6 piece nugget happy meal with 2 of those fries and a drink used to cost $3.00 but I was wrong to assume they are now charging $4.68 for a kids size fry which is about 18 friench fries which is about $0.25 per fry I love my president he's keeping me in shape by making it unaffordable to eat ...my family thanks you though
Would you mind sharing the water table file? I just purchased one of these and plan on doing a similar setup. I build the JD Garage plasma table, but needed something more accurate and production worthy
So the machine helps build itself?!
Thanks for sharing your skills. I have a Jeanneau 635 and I want to have a split, 4', swimming platform that will fold up against the transom (so I don't need to pay for extra mooring fees). I have ideas in my head but need to build a model to see if it will work.? You have inspired me to go to the next stage 😂
Thanks for watching! How close to the waterline are you going? If you're keeping your transom intact, you can have it fold at the waterline, kind of like a infinity pool, but a swim platform. Would have drawbacks of never being able to be down when you're underway and in surf. Definitely keep us up-to-date, hopefully you'll make a UA-cam video? Either way if I can help, my email is worknplayusa@gmail.com
Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't cut out the transom because I already have a wak through door in the transom. My intention is to use a platform for getting in/out of the dingy, platform for the dingy when underway and a ladder for getting down to the beach😢 don't dwant much eh😅. Good point about it bouncing when it gets sloppy 😮. The bottom of the platform would be about 6-8" above wl . Like your idea of the folding brackets, I would need folding/locking when down? I am based in Scotland UK. I also have an Aquabell 27 which if this works well I will do the same to?😅. A video would be a good idea😊 thanks again KR Dave
To bad Langmuir don´t have a distributor here in europe.
Is there a reason why I haven’t been seeing anyone tilt then table then pour the epoxy so coolant runs to the drains or did you do that and I just missed it? Really considering ordering one soon and trying to do my due diligence
It doesn't show it that way in the directions, they want the coolant to go to all four corners equally. You should check out their forum, there are updates to the drains.
Nice boat! The modification looks awesome, well done!
I’m not hating on it, and I’m about to purchase the MR-1, but can someone explain the concrete. Is it simply to add weight to the unit? Because if its purpose is to add weight as well as create a level surface while holding the components in place.. like the rails and the table.. then why not use something like Kerdi board(Schluter systems).. to create a grid in the pan, and then pour concrete into the grid. From my vantage point, this would provide a more secure concrete base, and it would be lighter, while still providing the surface for epoxy. It just seems odd to take an advanced system like this and dump a bunch of Quikrete into the pan. What am I missing?
I believe you want as much weight as possible to dampen vibrations. Good luck with your build!
Look like a gentleman while doing it😂 good one
I just ordered mine yesterday. I like your idea of extra mounting points outside the table.
Thanks for these videos. I just purchased my MR-1 about and hour ago. Now I know what to expect!
That's great! If you're not already, you should check out the forum forum.langmuirsystems.com/c/mr1/37
Great video can you show how programming works
What would say the repeatability and accuracy of it?
You are really impressive dude. You deserve more views. Please keep making videos. Your work could really take off. Subscribed
Thanks! planning on a custom radar mast with speakers and satellite in spring
Going to make an updated video? About to do the same but would like to see how yours ended up, there is a guy that figured out htc on the blackbox.
I have been using it as it is, haven't had any time to tinker. I am hoping to updated this winter, will see. I have some home renovations I have to do before spring. Thanks for watching!
Im surprised they have the mud so dry. seems it would be easier to have it more flowable. looks great, thanks for the video.
after having this machine for a while. is it worth the 10k? Im thinking about buying one to start a small garage shop.
For me, it is definitely worth it. There is a huge learning curve with CAM, I already had some experience with CAD. If you don't have experience with either, I recommend you start with CAD and 3-D printing, if you try to learn them both simultaneously I think it would be overwhelming.
What did you come up with for a torch holder?
Hi 3-D, printed the spacer to fit the Open Builds mount and my machine torch
Would like to talk to you somehow about the MR-1, I want to buy one in the future and have questions. I can give you my email if interested
Thanks for watching! I honestly don't use email outside of work. On Langmuir's website there's a form you can join without purchasing anything. There's a wealth of information and a ton of guys with more experience than me. I am on there as worknplay, you can send me a direct message there. forum.langmuirsystems.com/
Awesome, didn’t know there was a forum
the tool setter correction has been crazy annoying. I've been procrastinating on adding a buffer piece under mine because I work with extremely high tolerances, a 10th or less and don't feel like readjusting the center.
Doing God's work. You're an actual hero. You have any idea how many videos like this I wish existed. Just some short simple one's that show you the glaringly obvious issues you'll encounter with a new system. It's a true passion to help others. And that's beautiful.
Wow, thanks for the kind words!!! I'm going to print this out and frame it!
great job
Totally bitchen
Pretty clever and well executed. Well done 👍🏻👍🏻
This would be an amazing solution to making boats wheelchair accessible. Cool video, great work.
interesting, I hadn’t thought of it. Thanks for watching.
Clean set up man ❤🔥💯💪🏼
Appreciate it! I subscribe to your channel, looks like you've got cool stuff!
how do you get your flood coolant to be a drizzle? mine is more like a jet
The flooded coolant kit should have a cheap plastic valve, that’s what I used originally but it felt like It always needed adjusting. I added a brass 1/4” valve I purchased at Harbor freight or Home Depot, they sell them cheap for air hoses
Thinking about purchasing. Is there a way to tram the head tilt left/right?
yes, it can, there’s a good thread on the form about it. forum.langmuirsystems.com/t/traming-tools-process/27008/9
@@worknplayusa Thank you!!
The leg code is still good as of 7/2023.
Thank you for the update!!!
you lost me at mac book
+1 for any project that involves an inappropriate use of a chainsaw.
thanks for watching!
If you can't hold the workpiece down you can’t cut it. It’s just plain stupid to use your hands, you're just asking to lose a finger or two. Mill a square pocket into some wood and sandwich each one and mill them that way so they don’t move. The wood will stop the mesh from moving and you’ll get a clean cut. Or drill press it.
agreed, anyone that would use their hands it’s just plain stupid.
who can i pay to build this mill???
if you go to their website, you can order it assembled
Keep up the decent content, hope to see more, subbed!
Nice, just 1 thing. Cut your insulation around your gang box, as a former insulation installer this has my OCD going CRAZY!!!, defeating the purpose of insulation there. =)
LOL! don’t worry in my latest video, free modifications the insulation is sheet rocked over
@@worknplayusa do you think instead of mixing cement the normal way, if you made epoxycrete if it would be more beneficial. It does reduce vibrations drastically over just regular concrete.
how can i get one of them tool setter parts from .I try to find you on the MR1 forum with no luck .I would like one of the tool setter or the plans to do one when my mill is up and running
Thanks for watching! If you email me at worknplayusa@gmail.com I would be happy to send you the file.
hi thanks for the vid, can the MR-1 be used to CNC injection molds? would the finish be okay?
Could you use this to cnc injection molds?
definitely!
Nice modifications! I need to get a machine like yours or something similar... I subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
I'm pushing for a mill at my job. We buy ridiculously machined sinks for badass electronics. They are SPAHENDY! No problem gabbing my way in to a laser cutter and 3D printer. Each under $1000 and proving their worth every minute. I'm hoping that's the lever I wield to make my boss think an MR-1 was his idea the whole time. Keep the vids coming! When I eventually get one, you'll be a great source to my first set-up success. Sub fo sho.
That usb isolator should be there for back emf spikes. Control should have diode/cap/res for the same. Even manually pushing an axis all SHOULD be protected. Static and environmental EM can't be as ignored. If it just goes one day, know it could be as simple as some wind turns the whole building in to a balloon stuck to a kids head. Nerd time over! Think I can talk the boss in to buying me one for work. Gonna be paying attention to ourtube for updates.
you are right, I think I’ll put in a request for them to send me a new one. Good luck with getting your machine!
Magnets are great for holding tools if you machine nonferrous metals. If machining ferrous metals all the chips will start to be attracted to the magnetized tools from the magnets.
Very true. I don't machine steel very often, when I have it wasn't much of an issue.
Good vid guy. I wasn’t able to get in on the first wave but hoping to place an order shortly. (Unintended) benefit I suppose is seeing what folks are doing to address shortcomings. Overall seems like a solid machine, especially for those of us just getting into it.
I have no complaints so far. Good luck with your machine!
hi, can u tell meu what is the hight of the vise? from bottom to top? i lookd on the website and they say 1.2 inch or aprox 30 mm is that correct? or the body is only 30 mm high and the jaw is another 30mm?trying to find a pair of low profile vises for a long time.
Sorry for the delay, crazy with work. To the top of the jaw 2.37
@WORK N PLAY USA cool. Now I know what which vises to buy. Do u have issues with the clamping? Or the traming of the vise ? Do u ever use 2 vises ? If yes have u ever checkd the hight between the two vises?
Bits are very expensive although last long. I spent more than 6€ for single tungsten carbide coated bit !!!! 😗😗 and I have a lot of various bits for different materials so this is great expenses for this hobby or work.
Great point!
Lol pro level ones can be 100$ plus
