Nice pads ! So the skate laces attached to the buckles are not fixed like that during game play. They are only attached like that to the buckles when the pads are carried around (so the skate laces would not bouce around when you carry the pads to the arena, let's say). These skate laces are meant to be attached to the goalie skates on the ice, so that the pads follow the skates movements more tightly.

I built my own masks starting in 1978 when I was 15.....got proficient at it by time of College......rocked a Dion Nordiques Lefevebre Mask for almost 10 years....even had Dion sign it, when he was with the Baltimore SkipJacks. Switched to a Liut, Blues Mask, and then a Hybrid, depending on what League I was in, or if teams bitched my full facemask Liut. I never liked looking out thru a Cage, so I grabbed up every Single bar CatEye Cage, and even some of the old ProTec Cages....built and shared a lot of cool face Rigs with my buddies.....never had one break.....just a few chips......and when I got canned in the head.....90% of the time, it was my own teammates in warmups.
