Adam Sandler was told by an acting teacher that he’d never make it. After he was famous, he ran into his teacher and introduced Brad Pitt to the teacher and did not take the opportunity to rub his fame in his teacher’s face. Great dude.

I always found him to be a serious actor..am i the only one? Big daddy has some funny scenes yeah, but his character and the development he went through was serious. 8 crazy nights was a comedy song movie yeah...but fuck me was that not a sad story overall..and even as that ''funny'' character he played..it still seemed serious to me, almost as if the rest of the characters were the comedy and he was just himself in that movie..a depressed person who suffered trauma and lost everything. So these roles never surprised me, never understood why anyone made a point or an issue with it.

When someone has a pain so deep, they will bury themselves in something…. This character is beautiful because it wasn’t drugs, it was music. Seeing this scene again now as a mom, I could not imagine. God be with you all who have lost a child. 💔

Truly, it is often an incredible performance when a great comedian chooses to play a dramatic character. I think it really shows that the ability to make anything you do funny, often comes from a place of great pain.

It's great. But the realness in the end before they leave the office. Where Adam just says he doesn't like remembering, and Don just sort of gets up, still in shock so he can get Charlie home. I knew Sandler was talented in seeing him in Big Daddy. When they take Julian and he's begging the guy to let him talk to him first before the take him. And the boy is yelling at Adam the he wipes his own ass and Adam with tears in his eyes is just yelling "I know" and just trying to hold it together. By then I'd only seen SNL, Billy Madison & Happy Gilmore. But there was something in him, in that movie, in that scene that just radiated that same ability to go from comedy goof like Robin Williams or Jim Carey, into a serious actor that demands your attention at what he's going through. People really love to shit on Sandler - his acting, the films he produces, making movies with his friends. He's really one of the few in that industry that I think has it totally figured out. He totally seems worth supporting and holding up as an example for the industry that seems to be so awful and fraught with unpleasantness.

I think one of the big reasons we feel so strongly about this is because it’s… real. Not like the comedies. I can’t help but think of Robin Williams. Bo burnham. Happy faces, laugher that’ll brighten a room everytime. But they keep telling us that it’s a facade, it’s a mask for something real. Anxiety. Depression. Trauma. They keep warning us with the interviews and the serious roles like this one. That “acting” doesn’t just come from nowhere. It comes from yourself. The dark pit inside of you that knows what that trauma looks like, what that feels like. It’s something we should focus on, truly. Especially with the comedians. The ones with the mask. We need to focus on when that mask slips.

Like a lot of comedy actors it's roles where they turn off the humor or the charm where the really good performances come out. Robin Williams in Dead Poet Society, and Good Will Hunting, or Wil Smith in Pursuit of Happyness. It's like seeing them turn off the funny really cranks up the emotional weight compared to what we normally see them in.

Exodus 33:14 NLT The Lord replied, "I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest -everything will be fine for you." 2 Corinthians 13:13-14 13 All God’s people here send their greetings. 14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Psalms 4:8 NLT In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. Micah 6:8 NLT No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Jeremiah 29:11-13 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Amen 3 John 1:11 NLT Dear friend, don't let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God's children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God. Romans 8:6 NLT So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. Ephesians 1:7 NLT He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. Psalms 46:10 NLT "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world." Isaiah 26:3 NLT You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! John 16:13 NLT When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 1 John 4:11 NLT Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 1 Corinthians 15:45 So it is written: "The first Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit Amen Isaiah 26:3 NLT You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Psalms 119:105 NLT Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Isaiah 26:3 NLT You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! John 8:12 NLT Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." God bless Amen❤️✝️❤️ Proverbs 12:25 NLT Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. Acts of the Apostles 1:8 NLT But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere - in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Galatians 6:9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Amen ❤️✝️❤️ Isaiah 1:16-20 Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. 17 Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. 18 Come now, let us settle the matter says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; 20 but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken Amen 1 Timothy 2:1-15 Instructions on Worship 1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle-I am telling the truth, I am not lying-and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles. 8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing-if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety. Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." Amen 1 Samuel 2:2 NLT No one is holy like the Lord! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. 1 John 3:14 - We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. Ephesians 6:12 NLT For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. God bless Jesus Christ loves you all thank you Holy Spirit our Lord and Savior Amen❤️✝️❤️

Also just wanted to add that I've never heard of this movie till now. But I'm interested in watching it. I'm an American. I moved from Long Island, New York on the end closer to NYC, when I was about 10. We moved the late spring or early summer of 2001, to the southeast. I will never forget where I was when this happened. And how I felt. I didn't know if anyone I knew was hurt or affected somehow. I was only 10 and couldn't believe how different things were just a few months prior. I thought maybe my best friend and my relatives and ppl were dead or something. I was in school when it happened, 5th grade in a new school. I walked out of the classroom for some reason maybe w/ the class Idk anymore. But I remember the hallway and the color of the floor and where the windows were. I remember the teachers..........the teachers who I still looked up to at that age. They all seemed to be out in the hall or walking in and out of classrooms & the thing that I remember the most is how they were crying. And I didn't know what had happened back in my home state yet. Just all of a sudden the teachers were crying and I could tell something was really wrong. It was a little traumatizing because to a younger kid, you don't ever expect to see a teacher cry. Much less all the teachers, at the same time. The ppl who were strong smart adults who you could go to for help and support all of a sudden needed help and support of their own. I just still can't come to grips with how we moved and then like 2-3 months later 9-11 happened. I had neighbors that worked in the WTC. I remember my mom said my cousin who was still on Long Island was upset because there was a lot of military and other aircraft patrolling the sky or something like that and my Aunt told my mom over the phone that my cousin was scared. I love my home state.
