LOL, this is a good illustration of why they decided to move to LA. I had no idea who Larry Kert and Linda Hopkins were, and only vaguely who Patsy Kelly was. Rex Reed was a fairly well-known celebrity, but I have never known why. Compare that to a typical guest list from 1973: Sammy Davis Jr., Diane Keaton, Freddie Prinze, and Erma Bombeck. Those of us pretty much anywhere but New York would be more familiar with his California guests.

At 0.00--I notice there was too much talking in the studios back then in the transitions between segments, you can audibly hear studio noises in the background when going into a new segment, and I noticed this with other shows from this period---even the Electric Company on PBS had people talking in the background during the "dead air"

Thank you for this. I can't believe I watched the whole thing. And the commercials too. Sadly we didn't have the jingle for purity supreme. Somebody asked me for that a long time ago. I thought I had found it but I don't remember so I'm still looking. I worked in the city from November 1980 to December 86 But I really didn't watch TV. And I probably didn't notice the construction except that one time when I walked out the back of Jordan Marsh and there was a mall back there. I'm not quite sure what happened to that. I only saw it a couple of times. But the New England life complex. Or whatever it was originally called. Definitely had something to do with New England life. I worked in the Berkeley building of John Hancock on the 14th floor and I watched it go up and obscure the river. I think I was gone by the time it was completed and then I saw it years later on Boston legal and actually I must have walked past it in the city earlier than that because after I moved to Florida in 2001 I haven't been in Boston. That was bad grammar. I've been in Waltham once for a few days but it was midwinter and we didn't have a car I wasn't going out on the T... Although I could have I suppose. And between 87 and 2001 I lived on the North shore and didn't go into the city but a few times. But I did walk past the front end of that building with its big arms reaching out onto the sidewalk. I don't know where I was headed at the time. I guess I should have taken more advantage when I was a whole lot closer than I am now... Oh well. I miss Boston. Although even in the '80s sometimes the wind between the Hancock buildings could push pieces of paper up outside the 14th floor windows. It was windy and worse in the winter.
