I bought a 2014 BMW 435 X Drive, which was sold as being Cat N 'MINOR DENTS/SCRATCHES' When the car was delivered my mechanic commented that the engine was running slightly off a cylinder, which at the time was thought to be a faulty injector. The car was parked until we had a slot to carry out repairs, we checked the compression, which was half what it should have been on one cylinder, we decided to dig deeper to try to resolve the problem, which turned out to be a bent connecting rod. This was obviously why the car was sold through Copart. When I approached copart about this problem their reply was ''TOUGH LUCK'' and I should have researched the car before bidding, but viewing is not allowed in Belfast Copart. I am preparing for a court case.

The first mistake someone makes when buying a car from Copart or IAA is thinking they have a SNOWBALL'S CHANCE IN HELL to actually win one of these auctions. Unless, of course, someone wants to pay as much for a salvaged vehicle as they would that same used, undamaged vehicle? There is obvious evidence of "Shill Bidding" in these auctions, artificially driving up the final price of these vehicles when they're sold. Why someone in Ghana would want to buy a completely totalled 2014 Toyota Tacoma is beyond my comprehension. The fact that these companies even allow International bidding is complete and utter nonsense. I need a part for my Honda. I think I'll look for it at an auction yard in Saudia Arabia, even though I live in the USA. Makes so much sense, right? Oh, and don't get me started on how Copart likes to relist, or "reassign", vehicles for sale after the live auction has ended and the highest bidder has already won the vehicle. Then, Copart will send an email to the winning bidder, and all previous bidders, saying: "We're Sorry, This Lot Has Been Reassigned and All Previous Bids Have Been Canceled. The Lot(vehicle) Will Be Reauctioned Starting At The Previous Highest Bid." Despite the fact that the vehicle was listed as a "Pure Sale" in which the vehicle gets sold to the highest bidder regardless of the final price, there is no "reserve" price to be met. Yet another way of them fucking people over when the vehicle doesn't sell for the amount they(Copart), or the insurance company, wanted. Fucking scam. Don't waste your time or money here at these auctions. You are buying someone else's problem.

Mate. Copart offer a 10 minute video call service for £10 so you can check the vehicle over. Why didn’t you use it ? I’ve been buying from them for years & wont touch a car without a video call.

Isn’t this the chance you take it’s going through Copart for a reason. From watching other videos generally if a car isn’t damaged & going through Copart it is for a reason often mechanical. If I bought that car I’d feel lucky if the engine was working perfectly fine not surprised if it wasn’t.

So, what are you complaining about? You buy from the auctions and and take your chance, caveat emptor buyer beware. You have a 2012 car for £200 you can get a whole engine if you need it from many sources and still make a profit on that car.

I used to buy accident damaged cars from the smaller yards or auctions, place that was in Northwich had no issues with me using their jump pack to start a car, could spend as long as I wanted looking over a car and wandering around, had some great cars with light panel damage.

Some of these comments are a little unfair to the UA-camr imho. I totally get the reasoning - the descriptions are suitably vague enough for the auction people to try and put the blame on the buyer -caveat emptor and all that. It’s not unlawful as they are not directly misrepresenting the cars but it is crappy behaviour. They should face the consequences of practices like this though and I’m sure if there are enough complaints to trading standards (if they are still called that these days) there would be enforcement to improve the descriptions. They could sell you a black car and when you get it the paintwork not visible from outside could be bright yellow and that was its original colour. They’ve not lied but they haven’t been totally honest,,,,same kind of thing.

Buy a car that does not run from a car auction, then complains about it when he gets it started, buy the insurance write offs, at least you know what is wrong with them, why did you not contact copart, they do have a refund policy,

Copart have done a few people over different channels have said on u tube ecoboost is the worst engine in any ford every done they blow so up many times its scrap not worth fixing copart a joke descriptions are wrong on the action site and there cars are over priced scrap don't use them again

Sell them back through copart someone else will be just as daft as you and buy them

You realise copart is the man in the middle it's like you can take a car there and thay will sell it just like insurance company's do the car is inspected then the insurance company pass it on to copart for them to sell and you tell copart what's wrong with the car so it's not actually copart scamming people thay just look the car over take pics but thay don't bodge them.
