Wokingham Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Lucy Demery Interview by My Wokingham Elections 2024
Exclusive interview with Lucy Demery Wokingham’s Conservative Parliamentary Candidate by My Wokingham's Nick Marr
Lucy takes over from Sir John Redwood who was the MP for Wokingham from 1987 to
2024. John has decided not to seek election at the general election on 4th July 2024.
Nick spoke to Lucy during the D- Day commemorations in Wokingham Town. When asked more about her and the reason she was there Lucy Demery said:
“I here today, joining the community by Wokingham Town Hall for the D-Day
commemoration. It’s a very moving group here. My father actually served in the Royal Air
Force, so I’m a big believer in public service and commemorating those who sacrificed so much to defend our freedoms from tyranny.”
We asked Lucy to provide some more insights into who she was. She said: “So I’m a mum, I’m a local campaigner and a community volunteer. I do a lot of volunteer work in the community, particularly with the likes of the Citizens Advice Bureau and on
environmental conservation projects.
“I also have a lot of experience in business. I’ve worked as a managing director in
fintech, financial technology. But I’ve put that aside now to campaign full time and to
be your Member of Parliament full-time. This is what I’m really focused on right now.
“We’ve had a really busy start to the campaign, meeting constituents on the doorstep, at community events like this, and it’s just been such a warm and wonderful reception.
Thanks, everyone, for your kindness, and I look forward to meeting more of you on the
campaign trail.”
We asked why someone should vote for Lucy rather than the other main party in
Wokingham. She explained: “I’m really focused on investing in a vibrant local economy, drawing on that business experience and supporting our local services, which I think have been undermined by their local Lib Dem council over the past couple years. And protecting our green spaces, which are also at risk, because the Lib Dems at the council level haven’t updated our local plan. So, we’ve got this threat of overdevelopment on our green spaces and on our floodplains. I grew up on a nature reserve, so I’m really determined to protect our local environment.”

It looks so exciting. I wish I had someone to go to this with. This is when I hate being single.
LIB DEMS are helping as they bombard you with leaflets through your doors. that need to be recycled! and here is clive jones worrying about pollution! you could not make this up
stop putting shit through my door clive jones
Because water and electricity are ok to mix together.
Another one passed his sell by date
Smash!!
No thanks
What an utter self-entitled snob. The works, which include a pedestrian footbridge amongst other things, are being done to improve quality of life for her local community. She wants manual construction workers to work 7 days a week until they finish the whole project - she's a narrow minded, self-righteous entitled slave-driver who looks down on hard working people who are merely working to make her community better. If people want better infrastructure and quality of life in their community, there will be short term inconvenience. If she's upset about it, she should join our club... it's called 'the rest of the world'. We meet on Tuesdays.
"Highly dangerous"... Well, you'd think that, naturally, because of the general relationship between electricity and water. However, there isn't a risk of electrical shock as the charging cables do not have any electricity flowing through them until after the vehicle and charger communicate and determine that everything is ok. So you have one of two scenarios: you charge just fine, or it won't work.
A strange place to have put them, esp when the hotel nearby is in stilts due to flooding…….😂
Ignorance breeds fears. EVs are plugged into a charging point on rainy days and there’s no issue. The floods water in this video was not high enough to prevent the rear door to be opened. Who do you think video this clip? The person must be desperate enough to use these superchargers.
Not the sharpest tool in the shed
you?
Why is this dangerous? You have no clue what you’re talking about!
half the comments here also say its dangerous, funnny how everyone becomes an expert at this lol
Can't they build these on higher ground, or at least have some type of effective drainage? Just for convenience if nothing else.
He sounds like Ozzy 😂 Sharon! Who charged the fuckin tesla
Why the fuck do you take a strap to a music festival? I've done a fair few festivals in the UK an witnessed some mad stuff but wow that tops the lot
Wow came up random was brought up in Wokingham and lived in west Dorset now left Wokingham in 1986
TERRIBLE AUDIO
Takes a crazy guy to charge in a flooded lot... By the way you left your back door open.
Where's the food? Show us the food first 😂
Really. ua-cam.com/video/LwraIqtRFqM/v-deo.html

Yo wassup
A lot of second hand Tesla batteries and powertrains come from flooded cars that were declared totaled due to water damage, but the electrical components are well protected against water.
Water damaged lithium battery are dangerous even after they are dried. ua-cam.com/video/LwraIqtRFqM/v-deo.html
There is little danger because of the electricity. Other parts of the car might be damaged by the flooding...
Most definitely not. They’re sealed with multiple layers.
no theyre not only waterproof but also bulletproof, nothing is gonna get in there
worst part is how dirty the water is.
Who leaves the rear passenger door open while charging unattended, that is more baffling… 🤔
Plot twist: the owner of the car is the one who took the video 😂
Ignorance
This is perfectly safe. Stop being over dramatic.
I didn’t understand a word that old man said.
I did he said “uhh bih danguris yeh” 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
a booha gooha booga goooba im old
Nobody wonders whether it’s dangerous for their homes to get electricity in a flood.
Do homes have massive lithium ion batteries underneath them?
@@safeandeffectivelolThey have something much more dangerous natural gas lines.
@@goldenshatter Water doesn't make natural gas lines blow up or catch on fire
@@safeandeffectivelol And those massive batteries are a sealed unit, the same way a home storage battery can function just fine when partially submerged.
bro these batteries are water tight dont wory
Electrify America can't keep their chargers up in ideal conditions. Tesla Superchargers still work fine in flood conditions.
WOU
I dont see the issue. Electrical running up is waterproof. Charger isnt under water. Car is waterproof. As long as its not all under water, then ya'll fine.
Not good for the car. The battery won't be the issue. Although it seems the suspension is high enough that it doesn't enter the car in which case this is fine. But still if it continues to rain... their car will be flooded lol
electrical powertrain and battery are waterproof. The rest of the car, not so much. But, yeah, not dangerous per se, since the electrical components are waterproof.
the car is waterproof the doors too are sealed@@lachlanB323
The guys accomplices drove off and left him at the scene. That's why he got caught. Poor guy lol
Great event hosted by the hugely talented Paul Metcalfe!
i’m his sister
its scary because the day before that i was going to the orthodontist down the road from there and we saw crows by the church which is next to the house and as most people know crows are a sign of death..
Nah my nans house was abot further down the house from inside is bad

Trail markers duh or property markers
Mr blakely was the best teacher bro
The only way this shop was ever going to survive was to increase footfall yet the community continuously reject any hint of new houses being built. I can guarantee that the ‘Not are in my back yard’ crew are currently making the ‘Save our Shop’ banners. The school will be the next to close down then the village will be done, and the blame sits firmly with all those who fought so hard to reject the opportunity to breathe new life into the area, which ironically included the shop manager who submitted a rejection letter to the council online planning website. Save our village has lead to …. what village.
Probably someone owns the other half of the forest? Idk?
tree lives too 😢
This sinkhole caused so much pain. A ‘quick trip’ to Tesco took an additional 15 minutes 😐😐
