My bf and I got sober 6 years ago . But … he goes to the casino almost every Saturday and always bringing me back the freebies from the flyers he gets . The gift cards , purses , coolers , etc…and he has about 400 dollars credit for any restaurant , motel room or gift shop in the casino . We each have 50k put up if we decide to buy a house . It would break my heart to know he had gambled away his savings . I can’t bring myself to ask him and I trust him . I do know his marriage from 25 years ago ended because of gambling . I need to have that talk with him . Glad I listened to this video . I know when I put drugs in my body I am no longer in control . I can’t imagine the pain it is for people stuck in the hell of gambling addiction. I go with him maybe once every 3 months and when my $200 budget is gone I am ready to go . My son’s boss took him to the casino one night after the races and my son did not want to be there . He remembers my drug addiction to m*** and how combined with gambling during my addiction I was blowing all our money and I had an extensive disposable income that could have had me retired now . But I blew close to a million dollars over ten years 😢. My son won ten grand after putting a 20 dollar bill in the keno machine . He cashed out , called an Uber and never went back .

This tells me how worst gambling can be if you don’t know when to stop and take a break in a casino. To me gambling in a casino can be fun and all just like you’re going into Carnival and Arcade as a Child thinking that you re going to win prizes and in a Casino the prize is winning a decent money and sometimes biggest money that you can think off going home with, but gambling is meant to be funny and exciting entertainment if you know how be responsible with your money like setting a budget so you can minimize the losses and building a decent bankroll and I win on slots sometimes and getting decent hit and jackpot, but losing some money that you come with can be frustrating, but me that I loose within my budget can be a little stomach notch, but I do is taking a break can help me reset and think about the positives that your loss within budget can sometimes come back and possibly you can make a comeback on casino if you are lucky

The hardest pill for me to swallow was realization that the casino didnt take my money...."I" gave it to them. "I" went to the casino. "I" sat down at the machine. "I" put all of my money in that machine.......then...."I" went to the ATM. I had to come to the realization that "I" and only "I" was responsible for my actions. I have quit casinos but have fallen off a couple of times in the process. I didnt beat myself up over it but I did think about my set-back. Quitting was one of the hardest thins I have ever done but was so worth it.

I'm a casino dealer and active problem gambler in fact just got home from a 10 hour casino trip where I lost 10k I only get to go about once a month since my daughter was born if I'm lucky but working on not going at all ive never been in debt from gambling but don't find it as fun as I used to since having my child but I go because it's normal for me. Now here's a question for ya do you think that a problem gambler can recover while keeping their job as a casino dealer?

I wish you could have won over a lifetime but you're still young so we'd never know anyway. Without some degree of skill most lose at the casinos. My grandfather owned racehorses all named after drinks. My father owned racehorses so I got a lot of tips throughout my lifetime. The fact was I never had to worry about money because my grandfather was a multimillionaire during the Great Depression.

I've been gambling for 11 years and in the past 5 years I haven't had money in my account more then 2 days. It all just goes on pokies and keno on pay day. I think I've lost over 400k in my life and have become numb to my loses. I'm finally starting to seek help about my addiction because its ruining my life.

The main goal of casinos is to get your money. Thats the whole design from the carpet to the false "Freebies" they give you. If they dont get your money, they go out of business. All of the lights, bells and whistles are all there telling you to "Go to hell and making you be happy to be on your way". I am not saying everyone will lose when they go to a casino but if they go even semi-consistantly it is a good bet they will be on the losing end when they are done......experience has taught me that hard lesson.

True. Gambling addicts have the power to drive these monsters out of business. You want to get even for losing 10, 50,100k? Never place another bet.

I had a gambling problem for three years. The main thing that keeps me away now is the realization of how it affects a person spiritually. It is said in Buddhism that the winner feels (on some deeper level) guilt, because that person's wins come from the losses of other people who also wanted to win. Gambling is called "theft by mutual consent." I had a friend who was a very skilled and successful card counter. She was financially ahead of the Altantic City casinos over time. But this I think also affected her in a sense of wanting to cheat in other ways. During the time when she was so successful with gambling she also started an affair with a man at work. I think gambling made her more aggressive and maybe less sensitive. And yes she was married when she started this affair.
