Poor services for truck drivers during Covid-19
thank you 👊
I’ve just returned to driving after a looong time away, some of the loads I’m carrying aren’t with strapping in as one dodgy corner of harsh break will have the lot shot, additionally I’ve been told by a few not to strap certain loads. WHY is there such a variety of opinion and knowledge. It amazes me how the so called experts ( VOSA etc) are allowed to call the shots….. but there again these comments show such a spread of knowledge within those that really should know.
Do as I say not as I do

Thank god she was there to stop his blowing his load
You obviously don't know the rules for XL trailers. I suggest you have a read up about it before telling others what they should do. Also internal straps are only good for 400kgs
Some people just can’t express themselves without using profanities.
The problem is this according to vosa dvsa or whoever internal straps are inadequate for over 300 kg,and ratchet straps will damage a lot of loads if they are too tight, its a nightmare enforced by jobsworths.
Make warden pat for it personally
Just had the exact same thing happen to me
I just say, better to be cautious than sorry later. Little things are taken for granted. Be safe out there!
That is laziness, maybe he had to wait to get loaded but the trailer straps take a couple of minutes to do, no time at all really. Ratchet straps would be a ball ache with so little top clearance and all those corner protectors. Obviously as others have said the load is very light so I’d do the trailer straps especially if I was side loaded like this guy was because the straps are at the back and across the rear doors.
In Germany these cargo straps are unacceptable......in France no straps mandatory but if accidents occurs and damage is done by loose cargo driver is responsible...... So it depends on a country what law they passed.....
Some Curtains on Tautliners are Rated as a Restraint Curtain but they must have a Placard Identifying as such. That Load is Very Light as the Centre Lift Axle on the Unit isn't Down Owing to Lack of Weight on the Load Sensor. If he was Fined as a Result of that Stop, Personally i would take it Further, even if it involved going to Court.
Wow
Blue tooth straps rule 👌
A man in a hurry to get to his tipping point.
I go Murcia Spain every year with Ryanair since I own a house there
It's a lovely part of the world 🌎
Camposol 😂
That curtain will kill you
You knowalls read the rules concerning Load bearing curtains and individual pallet weights and dimensions...before you judge the lad.!!!!
The Asshole filming is a sad guy.Get a life!!!!
Why the need to film it and stick in on youtube till the ends of time so the individual has to keep reliving the mistake he made, you dont get out much, been bullied at school or just one of those types that enjoys inflicting misery on others, the types that back in the day would get a punch in the face for sass talk.
Makes him feel better about himself obviously, says a lot about him as a person.
Normal day in UK
Im not sure if im correct on this so please enlighten me.... the internal straps are only only rated up to 400KG, is that correct? I normally just use ratchets to be safe.
it's light load as his lift xle is up
You're dead on kid internal straps are not as strong as the ratchet strap curtains are probably stronger than the internal straps too much red tape and those pallets are not going to move anyway
When I was a forklift driver at DHL in Brackmills I used to load curtain sided lorrys with 2m high pallets (tv's or white goods). Never ever seen anyone opening curtains after it was loaded to strap the load. Can't get that.
DHL Use XL rated curtain-siders which satisfies the requirements for load security IF the load is "positive fit" like the truck shown here. Non-XL curtains however are just for weather proofing so this truck being shown will still need to strap up. Even when double stacking, if the weight of the stack is under 400kg then an XL curtain is still acceptable on its own.
Forklift driver we don't need advice from the likes of you
@@markelliott7509 you have no idea what you are talking about
How you fisxd that?
Today I have the same fault in my ca, Battery light and Dieselfilter light.😵💫
Because those light weight tightly packed in boxes are going to loosen and burst through the curtains and kill.someone arent they......😂 Obviously light as theyre on top of the other pallets Load of bollox literally The straps put on them will only hold the box the strap is in contact with anyway
Great video! It is worth adding that, done wrong, split coupling can kill. Attempting it on sloping ground (facing downhill) without having set the trailer's park brake will cause the trailer to roll forward, crushing the driver against the cab as he/she connects the red airline. Fridge trailers are especially dangerous to the untrained driver, for obvious reasons. I can only add that also using the wheel chocks is a sensible precaution on any slope. Some companies/depots have an outright ban on split coupling. Wincanton, on its Sainsbury's contract, certainly did back when I did some work for them in 2012, and may well still have today. Always ask at the gatehouse at any new depot if unsure....the only dumb question is the one you failed to ask! Again...great vid! More power to your increasingly damp right elbow 🙂
which do you prefer the k75 or the gl650?
That's a different one, I guess for any lonh distance touring the BMW is a better bike but for day runs tge GL650 is more comfortable
If you don't want to strap and tarp work for a company without curtain sides or flatbeds. Very simple really!
Told her to fuck off wiuldnt have her standing over me I’m in charge style
Always known it as pop's since it was over the other side of the road, and it was poplars transport
Yep, definitely she did very well. As a lorry driver myself class 1 I've seen many drivers just double stack a load close curtains and go! Absolutely 0 straps! It makes me terrified!
The pallets on that load don't weigh anything, each pallet can't be more than 100kls because the box's on the top of the bottom pallets not even creased, the law says if the load fills the trailer and the curtains are load retaining curtains it doesn't need strapping... it would be pointless as the load is never going to come through the curtains and the curtains are stronger than the internal straps anyway...
@@timward500 I agree it does look pretty light
Thanks mate, the new Daf has this and this was the clearest explanation I've seen much appreciated
She's. Only trying to save life's so be thankful she's doing her job right
Don't talk crap jobsworth to the hilt look at the lift axle and tyres save lives utter rubbish
Always always secure your load! 😊😊😊
We don’t know what’s in the boxes and they could be load baring curtains
Watch the video, he says they are NOT xl curtains, also double stacked pallets should be strapped with RATCHET STRAPS NOT INTERNAL STRAPS, no matter what they weigh, internals can only be used for single pallets weighing less than 400kg so it still hasn't been strapped correctly, the copper doesn't know the rules.
@wiganer9912 so all a ratchet strap would do is crush the box's and not secure.the other boxes on the pallet

Comments make me smile. Any driver who was driving before the CPC shit came in where the vast majority of drivers still hate and think is a waste of time would have done this back then. It was perfectly acceptable back in the day to load a curtain sider and just use the curtains to secure the load… in fact, the last big company I worked for in the early 2000s had quite a few trailers without internal straps and each tractor unit was only given 6 straps! I’ve seen thousands of loads like this which have made it to the destination and you could argue now that drivers now drive faster because the load is strapped down! I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to load and strap correctly but I do think it’s a little hypocritical for drivers who were driving before 2015ish to make out this isn’t acceptable because I’ll guarantee they’ve pulled loads like this before! Including Mr cameraman! Anyone who says they didn’t has either a very short memory or full of shit.
I agree 100%. In 1980s I drove HGVs in UK and nobody strapped pallet loads, rarely any issues at all. No doubt a good practise to strap but all you guys maybe driving 5 minutes calling the bloke out who possibly did loads like this for decades without strapping. we all love to bag others. I feel sorry that he got caught by someone who knows what about load restraint? Theory only, all out of a book. I live in Aussie now, we are strict on restraint too, I've seen trucks gone over and the shit goes everywhere, straps or no straps. They all got us conditioned to think it's soooo scary to even move an inch without a strap. The world we live in, I guess
exactly right .its probably a load of christmas tinsel
Yeah but in 2023 and rules changed
I made curtain spiders ( boaloy congelton ) , they were designed not to need extra straps , inexact there was nowhere to hook extra straps
You still can have a load on a curtain sided trailer snd not need straps , as long as it’s a full fit , and the trailer meets the ES and has a certificate. If there’s a gap at the back you only need to cross strap the back .
As a ex class 1 hgv, if that load had shifted and burst a curtain open then anyone could have been killed. I'd sack him for being a risk to the company.. and other drivers...
He doesn't deserve to be on the road. Gives all the good HGV drivers a bad name, which is totally unfair. I hope the Company he works for was informed, and the fine a huge one.
But he doesn't give you a bad name, because no one really thinks about it. However what is egotistical, is the vast amount of HGV so called professional drivers, unwilling to come off that cruise control, when another truck is struggling to overtake. You see it day in and day out, and i'll bet my bottom dollar, you do the same, and don't lie
@@gary63693And who are you may I ask.
Do as you are told, do not use your brain, comply, comply...
How many straps are on the curtain? How heavy is the load? Common sense says no internals required, clearly 🙄
Actually the law says ratchet straps are required for double stacked pallets....not even internals are allowed in this situation, so copper is still wrong letting him use internals, she obviously doesn't understand the rules.
@@wiganer9912 you are a good boy... never question authority mate.
@@wiganer9912well, no. The pallets are loaded as "positive fit" and "direct restraint" as used in this video is acceptable under H&S guidelines.
@@Nickbaldeagle02dear God mummy must be sooooooo proud of you
I used to load double stacked pallets of plastic cups every other day from belfast to Tralee. It was so light straps would've damaged the boxes and they never moved, Health and safety has gone OTT .
Completely agree guy shouldn’t have done it should have strapped it down but do you really need to film the guy and post it to social media guy made a mistake nobody was hurt leave it at that now he has to endure and re live the embarrassment time after time if a work colleague or someone he knows finds this poor show really talk about brotherhood and all that bollocks just as bad as watching and filming someone reverse into someone you would rather sit there and laugh than get out and lend a hand
I couldn't agree with you more... It's "drivers" like the one filming who gloat on other drivers misfortunes that really makes me feel sorry for them because they have nothing else better to do do except film and gloat over the poor guy... If he's that much of a know all, why didn't he get out and help? Because he's too busy filming after he's all ready chucked his teabags out the window onto the floor and threw his bottle of piss in the hedge...
@@nigelbevan8449 exactly full of their own self importance to many self righteous know it all drivers out there passing judgement on others
Should have lost his license for this, no excuses.
Stop being a drama queen.
Don't be silly.
those pallets were going nowhere with all the tautliner straps in place and tight, tautliners can carry 44ton gross with the load poured into the roof.
It doesnt matter, the rules are broken and they should actually be ratchet straps not internals because they are double stacked, weight doesnt matter, internals for single pallets less than 400kg, double stacked need to be ratchets.....THE RULES, all there and freely available to be read on the DVSA website
He was in a hurry to kill someone
Light weight boxes guarantee they not go through the curtains only jobsworths and. Inexperienced will talk such crap as for the plods it's all money for pot
