Dear Crow // Lost Everything
We were camping by the Cowlitz River near Packwood, WA and took the opportunity to record this sweet tune "Lost Everything" which comes from Virginia fiddler James Leva.
Dear Crow is Penka Jane Culevski (fiddle) and Brian Lindsay (banjo)

A clip from a house concert in Oakland on our tour with "One Dollar Whiskey", where we opened with a few songs from Dear Crow. This one is a tune we co-wrote in 2020, called "Out In The Daffodils", paired with a song by Rachel Baiman: "Anxious Annie" check out more of Rachel Baiman's amazing songwriting, fiddle & banjo playing, and writing at www.rachelbaiman.com/ Dear Crow is Brian Lindsay and...

This song, written by Richie Stearns, holds a really special place for us. We made this video back in February for a Valentine's day event. Recorded on the docks in Everett, WA. Check out www.richieandrosie.com/ and support these awesome musicians, we love their music. Dear Crow // Si Bheag Si Mhor / Hunting The Buffalo

Here's a set of tunes we think go really nicely together. Si Bheag Si Mhor is a composition of the 17th century Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan. The second tune, Hunting The Buffalo, is one of our favorite old time tunes. Dear Crow is Penka Jane Culevski and Brian Lindsay. 🔗 : dearcrowmusic.com 🟦: dearcrow 🎥: ua-cam.com/channels/H7vSI123TS9XK54YsrR1Gw.html 📧: tinyurl.com/crowmail

Hello friends, welcome to our channel! We've been making music together for awhile now, and we're pretty excited to share a lot more of that with you here. Dear Crow is Penka Jane Culevski and Brian Lindsay. Bravo. What's that mic? Sound is great. Perfect mix of live vs polished recording.

Thanks so much! The recording is done with a little stereo recorder (TASCAM DR-07mkII). It gets surprisingly good results when placed well, I often choose that for videos because it's simple and discreet to setup as compared to a pair of studio mics.

Very nice. I can see that you are a classical violinist, but I still like your version of Hunt the Buffalo. By the way, it not hunting the Buffalo. That’s a different tune. Thanks for this on a nice Sunday morning

Another great performance -- love your original song; I notice Penka doesn't seem to be using the 'over the shoulder cord' to help hold the fiddle (as in the Nowhere in Time video) -- I'd love to learn more about her use of the device

I noticed Penka replied to an earlier question (see the reply to utbutch16 below) about the method she uses to hold her fiddle while she sings-- I would really appreciate a photo of the setup and a more complete description of this idea -- I've sometimes wished I had a method to help support the fiddle during performance and wonder if I could adapt the idea to my situation -- I notice in the video on Si Bheag Si Mhor she doesn't appear to have a cord in place as she does in this video

Beautifully played -- I found your posting because I wanted to refresh my rendition of Si bheag Si Mhor prior to playing it yesterday, but I fell in love with your approach to Hunting the Buffalo -- so I'm learning that one this morning; you both bring a beauty and energy to your performance; as a fiddler, I especially like the graceful fiddling but I value and appreciate the great harmony of the guitar work-- keep bringing beautiful music to our world.

Thanks Lillian! This is a version of an in old traditional song called the "Gloucester Wassail", or "Gloucestershire Wassail". There are dozens of different versions of the words, Penka Jane learned her version from the band Golden Bough, and then she modified the words to make some of the verses a little more personal. If you google the song name, you'll find lots of lyrics available and you can choose your favorite =)
