Can the glass of these units be replaced?
How do you easy them
If you are in the water, and the ladder is not deployed, can you open it from in the water?
Could you make one explaining how you do the rest of the installation? I’m building a bass boat right now and want to put the gas tank under deck. Can’t find any information on ventilation.
Do I need a wood backing under my gunwale? Feel like the ladder would put too much stress on it without drilling into something else under the gunwale
Very helpful but i use the silicone to joint the ends
I have a 12 foot v hull what do you recommend
*Promo sm* ☹️
That’s the best looking water I have seen. It’s a shame they are so expensive.
How do I get the template for this filler, I had some repairs done to my boat, and I need to re drill hole
Thank you for asking! It's linked in the first line of the video description for easy access 🙂
Perfect as thew Vetus catalog is a bit vague.
Great! I will be calling! So sick of my Lewmar hatches.
Not sure why, but I think this review sucks. Why is so boring? Don't know but it is.
304 is a lousy choice in saltwater.

I am looking for a ladder but use the handle of the stern of a Jon boat as the mount
On the amb1/amb2 brackets, how do you know if a boat's transom is sufficient to take the load/torque from someone climbing the ladder?
Hi there! As it turns out, there's not an easy answer for this. We test our products to make sure they're up to standard, but after checking with our engineer, the best way to find the answer you're looking for is by contacting the boat builder. Though we can solidly tell you that we have not heard anything from our customers about a boat that has been unable to take the load of someone boarding/unboarding from this method :-)
Technical detail: DON'T put th microphone on the table if ANYTHING will be touching that table. The banging and bumping, louder than the narration, are intolerable. I stopped listening after 4 minutes.
Is there a recommendation for plugging a thru hull that is not being used?
316 and 316L all day long over 304 especially in salt water environments. Much less maintenance over long period of time. For that reason 316
Am i missing something or does this ladder just flop up and down as you drive down the road?
You didn't mention how you measured the gasket material.
Black screen only
I am hinge ignorant, even after watching this. I am trying to building a round cabinet with 2 pieces. that form a moon. One moon side is smaller (crescent) and one side is bigger (gibbous) that when put together form a full moon. I am adding doors to each piece and wanted the ability to flip the "crescent" moon side to the other side of the "gibbous" moon side. But if I do this with the lift off hinges the door would fall off, right?
Hello Susan! We love this idea! You are correct, however. Take Apart Hinges probably would not be the best for this application since they rely on gravity and the weight of the door to keep them in place, so they are not able to flip to different sides. Also, the "L" shape makes the different sides incompatible 😞 We don't carry any hinges that are easily interchangeable in the way you want, but we're wishing you the best of luck on your project!
Was this a magic trick? What was he measuring behind his hand? This might have been helpful, but I couldn't see what he was doing.
I have two of your large low profile deck hatches. I’m not sure how long they’ve been on the boat I am in the process of rebuilding them to the deck. I already have ordered new gaskets but I am hoping that you could post a more detailed video on how to replace the gaskets.
Hey Jefferson! We do have a video on replacing gasket for portlights here: ua-cam.com/video/Ealn6fDsZok/v-deo.html however we think it's a great idea to make one for replacing Deck Hatch gaskets too! We'll get that started! 😁
@@MarineDepotDirect Thank you so much I will check out the link
Thanks for clarifying the use of these brackets! I got these and a ladder system that I am fastening to a nice cedar plank.
Hey there Dan! We're so glad it was helpful to you!
Thank you again.
I want to thank Stephen, and the production team for producing high quality material, and I hope you will continue to follow through on your stated mission. I will forever be a loyal customer.
Stephen single handed Holds this channel together. I wait in sheer agony and anticipation for these uploads. As a boat owner- these videos are vital, and I learn new and interesting things all of the time.

Does the under platform ladders fit the Bayliner Platforms?
Hello there! As with a lot of things in the boating industry, not all Bayliner platforms have the same mounting area. The best way to find if something will work for your unique application is to find the area you have available and then compare it to the ladders we have carry at www.marinedepotdirect.com :-) If you need assistance, one of our friendly Customer Support Specialists will be more than happy to chat with you!
bitt knot
How do you attach the bracket to the boat?
How much weight do they hold
Hey Brad! All of our ladders hold up to 400lbs and are compliant with ABYC Standards
I'm guessing that if the previous gasket was glued in with silicone you would have had one heck of a time removing it and all of the previous silicone.
The previous gasket in this video was actually glued in with silicone! It definitely took some elbow grease, but making sure it's all taken out as much as possible before replacing it can really help the next gasket bed tightly! Acetone and a good tool can help the process, as well as pulling the gasket as shown 😁
Is your website legit ?
Absolutely! All orders ship next business day (same day if ordered before 11am PST) and we work closely with White Water Marine Hardware, the manufacturer of many stainless steel products installed on boats today! Feel free to give us a call with any questions and our friendly customer service team will be more than happy to assist you!
Anyone else die laughing when he shook it thinking it wouldn’t rattle around like that 😂😂 I may buy that one, do you guys offer storage clamps for the telescopic ladder like you do for the fixed one?
Steve's a crazy guy 😂😂 He says he loves that he made you laugh! We do have plastic clips 😀 You can check them all out here: www.marinedepotdirect.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=clip Feel free to give us a call or email if you need assistance!
I would like to buy thru hull with a built-in scupper 1-1/8. It seems that inch and a half is the common size
Hi there Steve! Yes, it's very uncommon for a thru-hull to have a diameter of 1-1/8", I can't say that we see too many of them, and we don't currently carry any. The ones we carry with scuppers are all either 1.5" or 2". We're sorry we can't be of more help, but I'm sure they're out there! And if it becomes too much of a hassle, there's also the option of expanding your mounting hole to fit a more readily available option.
for Lewmar none of them state use silicone sealant!!! they say you ARE TO silicone grease basically dielectric grease and you’re stating to use silicone in this VIDEO
Hello Ed! Thank you for your comment! Just to clarify, these are Man Ship portlights. Man Ship portlights are 316 fabricated/formed stainless (not aluminum or stamped stainless), so the construction and gasket installation are quite different. This installation method is consistent with the original production Man Ship uses and we've found it to be exceedingly effective! It does require bedding the gasket with marine grade silicone. All of our portlights are manufactured to ABYC standards and have CE approval according to ISO/DIS 12216. 😁
Thank you
Do you put any sealant on inside bolt of thru hull or just the outside?
Hey there! Great question! You would apply the sealant to the outside, but we do not recommend intentionally sealing the inside unless the fitting is to be submerged in bilge water. It's common to be a little "sloppy" when applying the sealant to the outside so just a little gets on the threads 😄
Can you mount the big pontoon ladder on a swim step?
Great question, Tim! That depends more on your swim step than the ladder 😁 As long as there is enough space on the swim step for the ladder to properly mount, and it's strong enough to take the added constant weight of the pontoon ladder, there shouldn't be a problem!
You say to put the rounded side of gasket down...or into groove...Is this really correct? Seems like the flat side should go into groove and rounded side should be up. Please advise. Thanks, Walt
Hi Walt! Yes, this is the proper way to install gasket. We (and Steve) made sure to check with Manship and all appropriate resources before installation. Installing gasket the opposite way may actually cause weakness and a looser seal overall, as well as less water tightness when the portlight is dogged down.
Stephen!!!
STEPHEN!
The only folding ladder at THE END OF THIS VIDEO...."when a 250 pound person steps on the bottom step when boat is on the the trailer, WILL IT HOLD UP AND NOT BEND BACKWARDS AT THE HINGE POINT???(I need it more for getting in and out when on the trailer).
Hey there Howard! All of our ladders are rated to 400lbs. That includes all 304 and 316 grade ladders 😁
No one seems to make a BOW mounted ladder. One that folds or telescopes for easy access to the shore when beached.
Hey Ted! Great question! We've actually had customers use our B00365 model ladder on the bow of their boats, but they have modified the standoffs to reach their hull. We're actually working with our engineer and product development teams on creating a ladder specifically for this purpose! We'll actually talk with them and make a whole video about this topic. It really is something that's hard to find from manufacturers on the market today!
Thank you for this review. I have been looking for a transom ladder for my bass boat and I think you answered all my questions. I will be purchasing in the spring and am saving this link.
We're thrilled you found this helpful! Our goal is to help you find the ladder that best suits you and your boat. If you have any questions at all when you're ready to purchase, feel free to give us a call at 855.215.4211 and anyone here will be more than happy to help 😁 ⚓
