Huron Peak Winter Summit (14er)
It’s been a long time since our last upload and I know this isn’t nearly as cool as our PCT videos but here is some footage of our Huron Peak summit over thanksgiving weekend. Extremely low snow pack right now so we decided to get out there and send it! Happy trails!!!

PCT 2021: Episode 28 // Rain, Snow, CANADA!!!
Переглядів 9 тис.3 роки тому
Stevens Pass-Canada Mile 2465-2653.6 The last stretch! Wow has the time flown by. Our last week in Washington has gone by too fast and yet very slow at the same time. Can’t believe this is the end. The trail has been so good to us and we have loved every minute of it. I would hike it again in a heart beat if given the opportunity and can’t wait to see what other adventures await for us next! Ha...

Mile 2353-2465 Mt Rainer NP-Stevens Pass The scenery in Washington has been beyond stunning. The trail keeps evolving and the views never ending, except for when the rain showers start and the clouds engulf the trail. That is something we have been starting to get used to here in the damp Pacific Northwest. We can’t wait to touch that border! If you would like to contribute to our journey, you ...

Goat Rocks Wilderness-Mt Rainer NP Mile 2255-2353 As luck would have it, our adventure up to the famous knifes edge in the goat rocks wilderness was encased by thick wet cloud cover and no views of anything more than 20 feet in front of us. It was still a great time up on the ridge and a unique experience none the less. The clouds and rain cleared out the next morning revealing the most beautif...

Cascade Locks-Goat Rocks Wilderness Mile 2148-2255 Entering Washington, our very excited energy quickly turned cold and wet with multiple days of rain welcoming us to the evergreen state. Knowing we had some of the most beautiful scenery coming up in goat rocks wilderness, we remained hopeful that the weather would clear up and give us some views of Rainier and the surrounding peaks. Only time ...

Bend-Cascade Locks Mile 2028-2148 Where did the time go!? How is it that I’m sitting at the border of Oregon and Washington writing this description? I cannot believe how fast the trail is cruising by now. If I blink we’ll be standing at the northern terminus in Canada. We cannot wait to start our hike into Washington in the morning. It is the state I have been looking forward to the most and c...

Three Sisters Wilderness-Bend, OR Mile 1959-2028 2000 Miles. We made it. What an incredible journey it has been getting to this point. Hard to believe we only have 650 miles left. Overwhelming feelings of accomplishment and and desire for this journey to never end. We are very excited for Washington now only a few days away. Only one more state to go. Crater Lake-Three Sisters Wilderness Mile 1848-1959 We knew this day was coming. We had been dreading it since our last big battle with them in Yosemite. Yes, the mosquito problem in Oregon is real. They are big, bad, and out to get you. Luckily we have a new tent being sent out to us in just another couple of days to Bend and we will soon have adequate protection inside of our little home we c...

Ashland-Crater Lake Mile 1717.7-1848 The first handful of days in Oregon has been an absolute blast. The dense, impossibly green trees have been a welcomed sight over the hot and sunny exposed trail we had gotten accustomed to. Southern Oregon, often referred to as the Oregon desert, truly does live up to the name. The trail has been the driest we have seen since the Mojave desert in Southern C...

Chester-Burney Falls Mile 1330-1418 This has been some of the hottest weather we have had on trail! It was nice to get to slack pack a couple of the days while my parents were in town visiting. The END is always bitter/sweet. That's why the "older guys" tell you (the younger crowd) to slow down and stop the "big miles". It's NOT a race, but an experience that sucks and amazes along the way. Happy trails.

    I remember a few years ago my friends and I stayed over night on a trail in northern Utah. It was late June so we figured it wouldn't get *too* cold. We had 30* bags and layers. When we started it was like 95* so we were sure we'd be okay. Turns out there was more elevation gain than we thought and that night got down into the teens, too. After a couple hours we had all 3 of us in one of the 2 person tents underneath all 3 sleeping bags and a reflective emergency blanket. Slept pretty great after that but boy, those first few hours were cold!

    Great videos! Wonderful job of journaling your trip. I really appreciate your music not destroying the enjoyment of the peace and calm of the scenery. It is well suited and matches the volume of your voice! It is majorly annoying to need to turn the volume down EVERY time the music comes on for most hiking videos.

    hi, i know this is an older video, but i'm really enjoying your journey. i'm contemplating a PCT NOBO thru-hike in the next year or two. so i'm really learning a lot from your videos. i do have a question, though. are you guys treating the water before you drink it? like a lifestraw or something? and how do you guys handle personal hygiene, like showering? do you have to like wait until you get into a town or use wipes? sorry if that's a personal question, but it's something i've always wondered and no one ever covers lol thanks!

    • @walkingwithpurpose4149
      @walkingwithpurpose4149 2 роки тому

      Water treatment yes! We carried and used sawyer squeeze filters. Using just filters will run the risk of still catching a virus from a water source (a common one being norovirus) since viruses are small enough to make it through the filter, however we didn’t have any major issues with viruses on the trail and we carried chemical water tablets just in case we came across a particularly nasty water source. Personally hygiene was mostly just accept the filth and shower in the next town whenever we had the chance. Sometimes it would be 3 or 4 days between showers and more commonly like 7-10 days between showers. Sometimes we would take a “wet wipe” bath and just wipe down every square inch to try and atleast feel cleaner. Later in the summer we took advantage of swimming in lakes to help rise off the dirt and that always felt great. Overall we learned to embrace our inner hiker trash and just accepted the lack of showers most days. Hope this helps! Happy trails!

    Watched the whole journey, absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed your camerawork, it was slow and steady and with time to breathe in the scenery. Seriously well done, incredibly relaxing. And I really liked how you showed both walking and camplife, and that your talking was mostly just about the trail, and your needs and experiences along the way. I hope you guys go on another journey and decide to Vlog it too!

    As a fellow hiker who thru hiked last year I have to say your videos are some of the best. Now as to this video, forget the river and the beautiful mountains and the trees because nothing compares to the unmatched beauty of that pan full of ribs! What a score brother! And I know exactly how you were feeling looking at that pan of ribs. It really is hard to describe how amazing that makes one feel after days of hiking...and tuna
