Leadership lessons with Linda Kasonde
Watch another snippet of my conversation with Julie Gichuru during my Nairobi, Kenya, book launch for Women, Resilience, and the Will to Lead. This time, we discussed what leadership lessons I learned during a tumultuous time in my career.
My takeaway quote? "Sometimes you don't even see the fruit of your work..... And therefore you shouldn't do it for the applause".
What leadership lessons would you like to learn from me?

I'm just here to confirm that a number of us on the Council considered Ngosa not only the 'oldest' one, but the voice of reason too, when she served as Vice President. A few times, when Ngosa spoke after lengthy debate, I was left thinking, she should have spoken earlier 😊 This was fun to watch and I was privileged to have served with you, Ngosa.

I found it interesting listening to this podcast. As a member of the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) and as a person who engaged vigorously in campaigns for the candidates, I can attest that the journey was not an easy one for both top most position candidates. For Snr. Cnsl. Ngosa, it was even tougher because she was contesting against the person she deputised immediately prior to the elections. The real battle was when each one claimed to have recorded success through certain projects. Of course, I agree that each success recorded by the Council can not be personalised, but the attempt from both sides was there to claim that I did this and that in order for this and that to materialise.... no, this was part of my manifesto in the previous elections. I applaud her for having contested and for making the elections and the campaign process seriously contested. It was not an easy race in the other camp too because any form of slumber meant losing a vote. Pick up points from her leadership journey is her courage never to give up. It was courageous for her to have contested immediately after giving birth..... she was going to lose it had she skipped the elections...... I say so because politics in LAZ are just at another level in terms of competition. Even at committee level nowadays people are fighting to be convenor etc... none is going unopposed. Kudos, to both of you for having participated in the affairs of LAZ at that higher level. During your reign Kasonde, it was hell because of the political environment at national level. It was litigation in public interest time after thee orher.... this culminated into a heated tenure for Cnsl. Eddie... I could see how critical it was during his tenure... the fight against Bill 10 was tough. You guys have really done your best for the Association and for the nation. I appreciate you the more because history has it that as a president you insisted on having an office at LAZ. That move showed your focus, dedication and determination for LAZ works.
