Damaged Goods from The Turning by Tim Winton, Read Aloud by An English Learner
I am learning English and trying to fix my pronunciation. I think reading out loud is the best way to get my pronunciation fixed. If I pronounce any words incorrectly, please help me pointing it out. I really appreciate your efforts

5:25 The only way to learn is when there is a real possibility of succeeding or failing. 16:02 Winners always accept responsibility themselves for the consequences for their actions, and are solution oriented and always looking for ways to solve the problems and deal with the challenges they face everyday. Losers never do, but instead always have some kind of explanation for why they’re doing poorly-and have a disease called excuse-itis, instead of making progress they make excuses for every difficulty in their life. 17:20 A major difference between successful people and average salespeople is that the latter work much harder than the average. 23:43 Ambition, the desire to achieve, combined with empathy-genuine caring for the wellbeing of your customers-are the twin keys to top sales performance. 24:12 EQ is more important than IQ for success 26:00 Peak performance salespeople don’t think in terms of closing sales as much as they think in terms of opening long term customer relationships 26:34 A balance between ambition and empathy seems to be the ideal combination for long-term sales success. *Too ambitious = not care that much for the customer, and the customer will sense it. Too empathetic = not assertive enough to ask for the sale.* 32:31 Top salespeople have high levels of belief in themselves and their company’s, and their product or services’ value to the customer. There seems to be a direct relationship between how much you believe in your product or service, and how easily you can convince a customer to believe in it. Your customer can never believe in your product anymore than you do. This is why it’s so important for you to sell something you believe in-something you consider good for your customer to own or use. If you cannot put your *whole heart* into what you’re selling, you will not sell very much of it. William James, “Belief causes the actual fact.” 38:02 When you are completely honest with yourself and you practice the quality of empathy with others, you like yourself more, and your customers will in turn like and accept you. There’s a 1:1 between being and becoming an excellent person, and high levels of self esteem. The rule is you can never like or love anyone else more than you like yourself-so don’t expect anyone else to like you more than you like yourself. How you feel about yourself is the single most important determinant of all your relationships - both personal and business. 39:15 Chemistry in sales is like dating and marriage-it has to be right or it won’t work. 42:22 When you are selling the right thing for you, you will become involved emotionally. You will only be fruitful if what you believe is a great product or service. 45:43 An attitude of confident expectation goes hand in hand with success in every area. If you confidently expect to succeed in advance, you will be optimistic. This optimism has an effect on everyone around you-making them respond more positively toward you and your offerings. Whatever you expect with confidence becomes your own self fulfilling prophecy. 59:04 Sort out winners from losers in selling by asking them their favorite books in their sales library. A salesperson who was not personally invested by investing her own money in books would never be successful in a competitive market. It was a waste of time to hire and attempt to train such a person. Only hire people who are already to their own personal and professional self development programs. 1:00:40 If you’re not continually learning and upgrading your skills, somewhere someone else is and you will lose. It would be the same as an athlete who is overweight, unfit, smokes, eats too much and doesn’t train trying to compete in any sport. No matter how nice or sincere a person he is, or how determined he is to win, he doesn’t have a chance against well trained, determined competition. 1:10:25 Suggestive influence (sensory/mental influences). You are positively or negatively influenced by every sight, sound, thought, experience or person in your world. 1:11:30 Reference group = consists of the people around you, who you associate and identify with. A negative reference group is enough in itself to condemn a person to lifelong failure. 1:14:20 The 100 call method. Set a goal to make 100 FTF calls in the shortest period of time possible, whenever starting a new sales job. Don't worry if you make any sales during these 100 calls, just concentrate on getting FTF w/ 100 people and telling them about your product or service. 1:21:00 Psychology of closing 1:24:50 Emotions are contagious. When it is clear that you intensely desire to make this sale, your desire will have a positive effect on your prospects. 1:35:44 The person who asks questions has control 1:39:35 The fear of failure coupled with the fear of rejection is the primary reason people underachieve or fail in life. 1:44:47 Stress of buying decision 1:47:20 Testimonial letters. “People who don’t have testimonial letters have skinny kids.” 1:48:07 Never argue with the customer or see selling as a competition that you need to win. 2:23:36 Malicious objections. Because 3:31:51 There’s always a way to make a deal work if the prospect wants the product badly enough. You have to be creative. 4:51:20 Eliminate the time wasters 4:47:20 Salespeople only get paid for results. Prospecting, presenting, and closing are the three key sales activities. Wake up unemployed each morning, and remain unemployed until they get FTF with someone who can and will buy within a reasonable amount of time. 4:51:40 Everyone procrastinates. The difference between successes and failures is determined by their choices about what they put off. Losers put off the important things that could make a significant difference in their lives. Winners put off low value tasks and activities, those things that make little difference whether they're done or not. 4:52:30 When people do work the average person works ~32 hours per week (16 wasted, 16 actually working). Of these 16 working hours, many of them is spent on things that are fun and easy, rather than hard and necessary. 5:16:00 The fear of rejection is a goblin constantly lurking in the background. 5:16:45 The energy and sparkle of your personality is the most important factor that you bring to the sales process. People don’t buy products, they buy people. When you are full of vitality and enthusiasm, you make a positive impact on the person you’re talking to. When you’re at your very best, you make the most sales. When you’re not, you don’t. 5:18:07 The highest performing salespeople are fastidious about their health and energy. Many of the top paid salespeople in America are marathon or triathlon runners. Feed yourself like an expensive racehorse, with the very best, most nutritious foods you can possibly find. 5:21:26 Perhaps the single most important single quality that leaves to high performance and sales success is ambition. You must be hungry and have an intense, burning desire for sales success and the money that goes with it. Sales success comes from being eager to call on new prospects. For people who are not particularly ambitions, sales is not the right field for them. They have become complacent, and have no real future in the world of competitive selling. 5:39:28 Millionaire Next Door, 79% of self-made millionaires in America are entrepreneurs and salespeople. *The most important skill for success in entrepreneurship is the ability to sell a product or service. Sales skills open almost every door. The probability of your achieving financial independence, and even becoming a millionaire, is higher as the result of being better in sales than in any other field.* And there are no limits to what you can accomplish. 5:42:16 Millions of business are started each year-all of them dependent on the success of the salespeople who sell their products and services. Almost all the wealth being created today starts with someone selling something to someone else.
