The prototype shown here was designed to provide a pure sine wave to the motor. It featured a smooth torque over a very wide RPM range and an incredibly fast response to transient load changes. To achieve this, I used a general purpose 32 bit CPU and wrote the entire code stack in assembly to achieve the lowest latency possible. The drive is controlled via USB by the laptop.
