Wonderful!!
Sexy song about a duck!
Rick Beato interviewing Pat 😂
Me too!
Rick Beato's Julian Lage interview brought me here.
A new world opens…
Excellent!
Sorry Rick, I had to cut to the chase and find this on youtube, I'll watch the rest of your vid later. ;)
Me too! Great discussion.
Hey, that was a brilliant transcription work! 👏👏👏
Thank you!
So really geil
Oh yeahhh
Me too.
🤚
Always dug Burton with Larry Coryell when I was young
Anybody else here because they keep passing by it in the real book
Gary Burton brought me here
SENSATIONAL!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely astonishing
VERY WELL??? FROM BARCELOJNA, CATALONIA.... SPAIN"!!!!
Incredible. I hear ever PMG track ever recorded in this one tune.
KARRIN ALLYSON, is simply the American BEST Brazilian JAZZ Ambassador!
A entrevista do Metheny trouxe-me aqui (now on portuguese version 😁)
Nah... Thanks US for the jazzy stuff but bossa should be sang only in portoghese. Period
Tom Jobim disagreed. He wrote one of the greatest songs/bossas ever while living in the US. In English. Waters of March.
Yep !
Brilliant Rick & Pat brought me here too. This is awesome stuff !!!
According to my quick study the center of the song is C with it´s pretty inversion on E but the tune lingers mostly in darker tones of Ab, Bb and Eb and ventures into Em and Gmaj7 and the modal approach is balanced by ii-v runs
And me
Thanks Pat, and Rick!
Had to watch a few episodes of Mr Rogers after hearing this
Me too
Essa Música é suave e Encantadora o Melhor do Brasil!

turn up the bass turn down the vibes a bit
It's as if the melody is about to break off but then reharmonizes again in the same structure, making it unpredictable.
Beato's interview brought me here too! Incredible!🛸
Lots of people visiting via an interview with Pat Metheny might want to see Pat playing it in his early days w/ Gary Burton. Pat and Dan had big shoes to fill (Coryell, Haynes)...not sure that was ever achieved by anyone. .ua-cam.com/video/tVFnQ2m5Cec/v-deo.html
Guys, I suggest listening to Corea/Burton, In Concert, Zurich October 28, 1979 - that version is a killer! Not only but the whole recording is one of the very best jazz records around! ECM immer gerade aus!
Wow , what a great call. Thank you for this suggestion . Fantastic recording and version !

@ you’re welcome
@@JamesOKeefe-US I'm glad you like it! Indeed is a desert Island recording imo (they were both in a state of grace when performing that concert!)
J Dilla brought me here.. RIP 🕊
Me too
Thank you. This is beautiful⭐️
Thank you.😀
Beautiful.....
By the way.... Pat Metheny sent me here...
I'm sure I'm completely alone in this, but I'm writing in the hopes that it's not just me. I find roughly the first 45 seconds of this song to be completely abrasive to my ears, with my brain struggling to get into the feel and the timing. But then something magical happens at that point, and it all clicks into place and my ears are happy as I settle into the wonderful groove.
Rick Beato and Metheny interview brought me here too - and a very worthy trip it’s been - so much so!

Me too, Rick Beato's interview with Pat Metheny brought me here.
I'm here b/c I'm playing this tune on a gig tomorrow night and I don't know it...research!
I'm also here after Pat Metheny said he plays this tune for 5 or 6 hours straight, in all 12 keys on the brilliant Rick Beato interview.
Trying very hard to enjoy/understand/appreciate this prog jazz music. I don't know why, but it sounds like random noise to me. Is there a simpler piece I should start with, perhaps? Or is it just a "different strokes for different folks kind of thing"? I also have this disease for the Zappa music I've tried to get into. I think maybe my brain is just wired to only feel simple stuff, whereas this is a bombardment of complexity. Thoughts?
if you're just listening to it because you think you "should" you probably won't "get it". I think it's a combo of different strokes and also complexity taking more work and time to listen to enjoyably. That said, practice makes perfect. What has been my favorite band of my adult life, when I first heard them I shut it off almost immediately. I accidentally rediscovered it later and the stars aligned, and I fell in love. Even then, though, I went through their back-catalogue and found some really difficult/abrasive albums. However, I trusted the artists at that point, so I listened anyway, even though there was a part of me that was repulsed, even scared? The stuff that was the hardest to like now has a special place in my heart, and I think taught me more about myself than anything I was immediately drawn to.
