would love to see this given a special cinema release.. original reels and sound and a whole full house of genuine adoring movie fans.. goddamn thatd be a nights worth of fine worthwhile memory making
Red : Your mother's dead . - I knew that man in real life , I would serve him coffe in my mothers fathers Diner . Two ironies : My novena mass going mother won't forgive her son for a transgression , never mind the transgressions my "parents " committed on me . 2) There is a line in The Replacements song -Can't Hardly Wait -Jesus rides besides me , but he never buys any smokes .
I knew I was going to have a hard time in this world when I realized that Luke was my complete hero when I was 12. One of the greatest performances in one greatest movies of all time. And what a cast.
Every time i cough and sneeze it When i eat my plastic cheezits Sitting in my hot & stuffy car When i puke its so unpleasant Plastic dots glowing iridescent I get em when I'm hungry at the bar
One of the all time greats... lonely bum, drifter, without direction purposely gets arrested and his spirit still soars, wild free spirit,,,,in chains. Love the irony, love the theme.... plastic Jesus on abalone shells
Watch it for the first time last night,it should've been called fool hearted Luke.Cause alot of trouble for himself over parking meters!!!Hate the way he mocked GOD.
I feel so sorry for your generation. Everything that you all do and say it’s only an image. It is two dimensional. Every single one of you could not understand the meaning of the scene or any other. You “see” but you will never “know.” You are exactly as the “God” you mimic. A computer.
After I gave my life to Jesus in 2001, I look at this movie from a completely different light. Pun Intended. Now my favorite scene is Luke laying in the bottom of the hole saying "Don't hit me any more Boss. I got my mind right".
orrr..... or. was it the fact that they put him in the box just because his mom died? who can say. only thing we know for sure is some birds weren't meant to be caged
I remember watching this as a kid. One of my favourite films. The 60s and 70s made some brilliant films. You don’t see these type of films made anymore. It’s more about Marvel, Batman, Spider-Man etc etc. 👍
The thunderstorm scene, testing God to strike him shows that Luke had belief in God and then again when he's singing plastic Jesus in tribute to his deceased mother. Then once again for the last time as he prayed in the church before his murder. This clearly shows Luke was not only trying to escape the imprisonment of himself but also his his battered and tormented soul. No doubt the scars of his upbringing, failed marriage and the war had contributed to this and his delinquency towards society. We all have a sentence and an imprisonment in our lives. Whatever the case, there IS Salvation available to us. Make that peace with God a daily priority. You have one life on this earth today and an eternal life in heaven waiting. The thunderstorm scene, err hurricane scene testing God is again portraid in Forrest Gump when Lieutenant Dan rides Jenny's mast tempting God to strike him while Forrest is battling to steer Jenny and ride out the hurricane. Later we see Lieutenant Dan has made his peace with God and thank Forrest for saving his life. Well actually Forrest carried Lieutenant Dan to safety, God saved his life.
There are two types of people in this world: show them this film and you will know what type you're dealing with. As a single guy, if I play this for a woman and she's distracted and ambivalent, she's not for me. But if she's totally transfixed through the whole film and afterwards, goes "wow..." with a tear in her eye, well... she just might be a keeper. It's a good test. Named my boy after this film and the man responsible for 1/4 of the New Testament (Dr. Luke). All this character truly needed was a father figure in his life and God only knows what he would have become. That's the real hidden message of the film. Almost every prison to this day and since the beginning of time is full of men who were raised without fathers. Almost any man that walks through this life frustrated with the malady of angst in his heart that he can't describe, again, was raised without a father or an abusive one.
Actually ,as we recall , I put my darling Kara to the " Luke Test" early in our Endless Romance ! She was mesmerized and teary , and I said , " See ? ". . .
And sometimes you're raised by a man so great, his worth seems to magnify your faults. Eventually you get tired of falling short and the only people you can find that look up to you are the ones who've fallen further yourself.
You know when I hear the song Plastic Jesus, I think when you are standing before the Lord on Judgement day, If the you regret it. Thank God for his mercy. For all have sinned.
Elvis talked on the phone with Red West about "Cool Hand Luke" (if you can find that, you´re lucky!), so it made an impression on him - I like that, it completes my reality...lol
What they let Luke sing Plastic Jesus before a night in the box.
Makes me want to cry everytime I see this. Rip Paul Newman what a man

Deserved Oscar but gave it to Rod Steiger instead. Steiger was good but far cry from Newman's performance

He should have received the Oscar. It doesn't get any better than this.
Loved the movie. Loved Paul Neuman. Loved the song and committed it to heart. But wtf did that banjo come from?
Greatness right here, in a timeless contemporary tale. The misfit brings the imagined life everyone wants, but too afraid to live it.
Gen x. We grew up on this movie!!! God bless luke and Paul neuman.

I watched this movie thinking it was a comedy. It's not. But it does have some bright moments. Like this, that hits really sad.
Only movie I can think of as good with as many great actors deserving awards is one flew over the cuckoo‘s nest
One of the best ever made
2-3-4...
~ RIP ~ Paul Newman ~
That Ole Luke Smile, 😢
My dad very favorite movie.
Every time i cough and sneeze it When i eat my plastic cheezits Sitting in my hot & stuffy car When i puke its so unpleasant Plastic dots glowing iridescent I get em when I'm hungry at the bar
One of the very best films they don't make them like that any more

Once you hear the sprinklers making the fake rain, you can’t unhear it
The deepest movie about humanity

Every actor in this movie deserved an award. Absolutely incredible !!
This has to be the most perfect scene I've ever seen in 23 years of loving cinema.

Can't ever watch this without tearing up.
My mother Died 10 months ago, this scene got me all emotional.
خوش فلم عجيب
It was from this point on that Luke gave up on life and decided to run.

Is this the prequel to "The Sting"?
It gets MY VOTE as the greatest movie EVER made.!!
Christ that was fantastic!

What a brilliant movie great actors one of the best
Sad.
Sucks, when Luke was put in the box, while grieving the loss of his mother. Sad,
Please please please please Hollywood. Don't remake this.
🌎🏆👍🎰🙃😎👣🧩🎭🍻😉. Thanks, Boss.. .Best to ALL. Robert Kraft 33.3×3🦅
Some good life lessons in this old movie, if you listen for them.
Ya can't let them beat you down. Democrats.
You know when I hear the song Plastic Jesus, I think when you are standing before the Lord on Judgement day, If the you regret it. Thank God for his mercy. For all have sinned.
Know what you mean , Outdoor .
No bombs, gunfights, martial arts, superheroes, etc and yet one of the greatest movies of all time.
Funny that. Ya know?
……..just 50 eggs and a little pepper.

Yep , the two kings of their crafts .
Beaten down the brush, just chains and clogs ,yes sireee bob , I remember beaten down the bush.
Was the big man upstairs letting Luke know he was there by taking his mother to the big unknown? Luke was asking for it in the rain.
God didn't take Luke's life when challenged. Unfortunately, God took his mom's, though 😢
