I am a full time wedding videographer and photographer. I don't post too much wedding content here but I hope to do more in the future :) I also love to travel so you'll see some of that on here too! And I also love my daughter so you might see her here too haha.
My Goals and Steps to Becoming a National Geographic Photographer/Videographer
It's been a few weeks since I decided I really wanted to go for this and become a National Geographic photographer/videographer, so here's a bit of progress I've made and the steps I'm going to continue to take in order to make it happen.

A quick update on climbing training
Переглядів 1014 днів тому
First day back at the climbing gym. I don't particularly care to film myself climbing or anything right now, but wanted to talk about it and document what I'm doing to train and gain more fitness in climbing. Excited to be going back to the gym! My goal is 5 days/week running with hill workouts, then the other 2 days/week at the gym. And doing some hangboarding and other grip strength training ...
I'm going to start taking mountaineering courses

Yesterday I was questioning my daily routine and habits. I think because I didn't have a clear goal in mind. But I figured it out later in the day and so I wanted to talk about it after I got up and ran this morning. I have somewhat of a roadmap for myself, I know what I need to do and the skillset I need to make it happen. So now it's just one day at a time working towards that goal. Let's do ...

Why do I even run?
Переглядів 4314 днів тому
Today I woke up and thought "why am I running?" It's part of my routine but today it seemed pointless. I just kind of felt down when I woke up. But I woke up at 5am, got out of bed around 5:20am, stretched and went and ran. Still dark outside. I have a singular 20lb dumbbell and use that to do a few exercises with each arm, then did abs after my run, pushups, pull ups, then took a freezing cold...
I'm going to be a National Geographic photographer (someday)

I wanted to make this as an intro video to my journey to being a National Geographic photographer. I'm going to be there someday but have no idea what it looks like right now. Feel free to follow my journey and thanks for the support! More videos to come soon, I want to start talking about my expertise in not only photography but storytelling and how I prep for events to make my time and energy...

Traveling FIVE WEEKS in Asia UNDER 7KG!
Hi Seth, I'm editing together a short documentary around severe weather and wondering if I might be able to license some of your footage from you? Is there a place I could email you? Would love to chat. - Mick
100% Mick! Sent you a message on Instagram!
Dude you're literally steaming, that's so cool what the heck!?! But yeah I understand the feeling of being lead towards stuff in life. Like sometimes it feels like there's a sort of rhythm to it, good times followed by really bad times like some sort of math equation... Defintely keep running tho! It's good for you, keeps you active. It makes it easier to think sometimes you know?
Yes thank you!! Steam comes from working hard in cold weather haha! It doesn't happen often! Thank you for the encouragement though, I'm serious about becoming a National Geographic photographer in the mountains so my goal is to get to an insane level of athleticism so I can trek in the mountains with heavy packs for weeks on end while photographing and filming for documentaries. Regular life is not so easy, but I stick to my routine because sometimes I feel like I have nothing else to live for when I don't have my daughter. Not the greatest feeling but I know it will pay off somehow.
Good for you.
Thank you! Care to join? :D
Sick
Thank you man!! I'm so focused on this goal, I'm excited to document every step of the way on this journey. It feels like I'm holding myself accountable too, by making these videos. I have to make it HAPPEN!!!!! It seems crazy to be dedicated to something and stay focused for years, but I've done it before and I'll do it again.
Thanks that is exactly what i was looking for! :)
For sure man!
Mother like daughter Both beautiful women
Absolutely!
yo vivia en mount juliet tn fue horroroso😭😭😭
Thanks Seth, I'm weighing these two up at the moment so this is really useful.
I’ve shot at nighttime from windows and was stunned at how well the 70-200MM performed
Now you know why no one did this video the lenses are both amazing
Glad I stumbled on this. I have an R7 and version 1, and unlike the 90D, these two lenses do not get along. This lens jitters unpredictably. Thank God it’s usable, but it’s so annoying. And video is out the window. I think the RF is the wise investment. I know it’s like a thousand more, but it just seems like it would last much longer too.
I got a Tamron EF 24-70 VC Lens. I got it for only $500 so I really like it.
🚨You don’t clearly show what to tighten but this should get me closer to figuring out how to solve my drooping tripod issue.
There used to be reviews on it. But youtube refuses to show you them now. No idea why. But I remember watching them when I bought mine. You used imige stabilization on a tripod? That makes this all pointless.
Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for and works like magic
I can not seem to find the Remote Tab on my EOS R TO ENABLE OR DISABLE?? Any help to this??
Amazing!
I really enjoyed your video. I just found the exact lense Ver.1. from 2006 haha. Your video helped me out making decision whether I should upgrade or not.
Awesome glad you got it!
Shame you missed focus on the first photos
……….but what about the version ii vs iii
Exactly the video i have been looking for thank you!!!!
You're welcome man! Glad I could help!
Super helpful, thanks Seth!
You got it!
The church that was there was completely demolished. Yes, we have a HUGE PROBLEM.
You can thank little miss front desk for this story. I was at the gas station across the street a day or so before. Some idiot came in a little high. He approached me and started touching my bag. I told him to stop. He said, "I ain't scared of you, b.... where's your man." I ignored him and tried to remove myself from the situation. He got loud kept calling me that word and kept screaming, "Where's your man at. Where's your man." I got in my car and left the premises.
2 days later my man showed. I have warned you not to play with me.
Don't bune the system
Thanks for this video. My tripod collapsed and I destroyed a $1000+ lens. I thought it was user error but it happened again today - luckily nothing broke this time. Pretty angry at Peak Design, but appreciate your video a lot.
Yeah unfortunately I think with this kind of tripod it's worth checking periodically. It also happened with me. Once you tighten it, it's fine. But you just have to check it.
Awesome. I just bought version 2. I thought it looked a bit soft at 2.8. I’ll need to start shooting at f4.
Thanks!
is it soft on your version at 2.8? And when you say "soft". Is it soft as in doesn't seam to be in focus? Is it that it is lower contrast? Smeared? Fuzzy? or glowing? Curious.
Thabks for this comparison. Im currently shopping for a used 70-200 and wasnt certain if theres much of a difference. Thanks to you I know! Great job
Thanks!
great !! thanks !!!!crazy thing but yes worked !!!
What an incredible set. I absolutely love the creativity behind the shot at 1:10. To think of that in the moment is really impressive.
THank you man! I'm planning to do more of this over the winter, so I look forward to seeing you again :)
@@sethc.art.wright I'll be on the lookout!
I dont see the Remote control option in Camera-->2nd tab and my firmware version is 1.8. Any idea?
What camera do you have?
The Image Stabiliation is really good for video. Otherwise if you jsut shoot stills buy the older less expensive one.
Totally agree. I sold the RF because I needed the money haha.
Hiked up to Buckhorn Pass last July and I remember looking across the Dungeness to the cirque that cradles Goat Lake and pondering how brutal that hike looked. But what a payoff. It’s been on my list but I’m going to have to move it closer to the top for sure.
Yeah it was pretty awesome! Thanks for watching my little video haha. This was quite a while ago!
Amazing 🎉🎉
Thanks bro! 🙏
Good video. I liked and subbed. Next you should do a video with all 3 lenses.
Thanks man! Which three lenses? All the 24-70 lenses? Honestly I think they all look pretty similar. Filmed a video for the first and second version EF lenses but there was almost no difference so I just didn't even put it together haha.
@@sethc.art.wrightWOW that is interesting. I wonder why they marketed a brand new version of it. Perhaps they changed the glass due to manufacturing reasons so they had to rename it and increase the price you think? Perhaps I will rethink and reconsider the first version as I need to buy one right now for my new 6D mark ii. 🤔
@@tourinojacks5844 Yeah the EF versions are similar. I think they upgraded some of the glass in the version II but it's not crazy different. Sometimes it's just small things they change. The RF version has stabilization which is really nice for video.
The III. I LOVE IT!
Gonna have to keep the is photographer/videographer in mind for all my memorable events, look at that lighting!!
You got it baby
What camera are you shooting with? That’s a good detail to know
I think Canon R in this video. That doesn't effect the lens quality at all though. All the R cameras will look similar with the same lens.
Hello! I'm relatively new to photography, so i didn't get the part where you transitioned to F4? Could you explain? Would really appreciate it.
I switched to F4 because it creates less depth but a sharper image on the subject. So I just wanted to see how sharp they were at F4
I just got v1 non-IS a week ago for my daughter's dance gala/show, which had difficult-ish lighting. I run an R7, and my only wide range lense is a Sigma 18-300 f3.5-6.3 with an AF motor that seems to miss focus a lot. My results were fantastic. I've never had such sharp shots. But the best part, I got it used in good condition...$850(CAN). I did a little shopping around, I can only find it for around $1100. The only thing I'm missing is the lense hood and cap.
Nice man!
Did you need a permit or any kind of approval there?
No but I was very cautious when I flew it and there was an area in Taipei I was flying where I realized I could have gotten in huge trouble for flying. Like potential legal trouble. So just be careful out there.
Amazing explanation! Thank you, Seth!!
THanks!
Awesome!
Thanks!
Life saver. Thanks so much, i've been strugeling with the focus motor for 2h, and couldn't find any good solutions on ytb ! Super useful 🤝🏼
Awesome glad to hear!
My very first time using the tripod…I took it out one night to capture the northern lights and because the legs slipped, I couldn’t catch my camera on time and my Sony 50mm broke into pieces. I thought it was my fault at first but when I got home, I checked everything and it was the tripod that wasn’t tight. I was so upset that I spent so much on a damn tripod but it didn’t even last me and it broke my lens. I threw that piece of shit out… wish I would have seen this video first 😊
Dude I am so sorry about your lens! That is so sad my friend. I'm so sorry. It also fell on me once but luckily there was no damage. It was after that I realized I needed to do something about this because it is such an expensive tripod. So it was actually really easy to see that you can tighten the joints, you just have to make sure to check it every once in a while. Hope you have a new lens and still getting out there.
huge help! my peak design tripod was slipping as well and almost dumped my camera. thank you for making this video
Great, glad it could help!
Nice explanation! But not all the problems are solved for me. To use focus motor by rotation the dial on RS3 I think I have to use the cable plugged into the camera and into the RS3. But, on this condition, the bluetooth is disable and I can´t use the record button on RS3. Do you realize it? Help me, please. How can I use record button on RS3 and the same time use the dial to change ISO speed or focus motor or change aperture on the camera? Thanks!
Make sur the usb c cable from the focus motor is put in the middle one of the ports of the gimbals ! Maybe that can help if it was not done like this before :)
thanks you for discover how to do it, you save my day! I have the same issue with the CANON R , on the Bluetooth RS3 Pro!
