Hey congrats on the license and upgrade on the station! Was / is that a Tram 2 meter antenna? If so did you paint and if so, what did you paint it with? Looking great! 73's
@@baddriver3580 that’s a tram 1447b dualband. And it came in black. Not sure if that model is made in white or not. I have since upgraded. Do a search for my channel” ham radio Qso”. That where I moved All lmy radio related videos.
Hmm,, the radio is making a "meow sound"...lol. Great video!
hello friend, good evening. very good place. Excuse me for a question?? . You don't have the address of that place there, please thank you
just google preston Ky 40366
Just map preston ky. It's a very small community but court day takes up the whole area.
I just bought one at hamfest. Love this video. Did you make any videos about all the settings and what they should be set on?
its a good radio and you will like it. and this is the only video i did on it. there have been lots of videos done about this radio and you should have no issues finding what you need. :)
Thank you for your presentation it was excellent😊
@@JoeFramo-uw9fp appreciate it
I know I’m years late. How do you drain it???
Sump pump. And better late than never lol. Years is ok 👍
Like this.. In going about 7 ft down with a hayward bottom drain and top skimmer filling it this weekend..❤
@@FOROW99 that will be very cool!!!

Aniruddha Bokil VU3FML has a nice video on V dipole heights and lobes and gain, and reflectors.
I will check it out. Thanks for the heads up
@@Yelnats101 Its seems the V Dipole with a reflector outperforms the QFH ! judging by whats visible on peoples SDR software using QFHs. they always seem to use LNAs. My guess is their coax ruins the symmetry of the loops. it puts a grounded run of shield inside the loops, coupling across the choke. A simpler antennas too, A portable V dipole could have hinged arms, so it folds into a very compact convenient form for transport.
why’d this happen?
Air leak on the rail itself. brakes came on
Wow
Damn I was there yesterday..

Where did you purchase the liner?
Can you please give me more information where you bought the liner and thank you very much

How to delete memory channel ?
Good question. I have only stored a frequency over a channel I don’t need. (Re write the channel) I will dig into it and find an answer
Love this color I have the 1972 in yellow 🏔️
Ok so my husband and I have been trying to watch your videos and figure out how to put a drop liner- in our 18ft Colmen pool.....He is confused about cutting the hole for the hose that goes out to pump....There is nothing on the inside of the pool wall that attaches to the hose.....So my husband is concerned about cutting the hole.....because he wants to know how that is not going to leak....Please help
all i did was cut the hole to match the hole that in original liner. place the gasket and tighten it up. there is nothing there but the pump inlet, the plastic piece that passes through the wall
When you going to go on tour with willie

Oh man that seat looks painful. Otherwise, awesome bike!
No deer tracks
It would be easier to just set up a trail camera.
i have looked at a few, hard to decide on what to buy . so many out there

🤣 indeed
Have you tried satdump? I like wxtoimg also but satdump has really came a long way and still definitely getting better since its not abandonware. Also you can schedule to automatically turn on and record your passes.
I like it...I have a 1971 scheen continental all original too
Great bike. Rides like butter
You said all of the antenna elements are the same length (19 5/8") but it's fairly clear the two bottom elements are shorter than the two on top. Is that by design? What is their actual length?
They are 19 5/8. Same as the top. I just don’t have perfect alignment when I mounted the bottom ones. As long as you close it’s not gonna matter. The bottom one just reflect . They could be 12 inches and probably work just fine.
Are the bottom elements tied together with the top. It's kinda hard to see.
No they are not. They just serve to reflect
@@Yelnats101 Thank you for the reply, very much appreciated 👍
Very nice! I have got the 2900 in 2013 it's been a solid radio
I’m very happy with my choice. This radio has been solid.
80 watts is great for 2 meters
Yeah man. Works very Well with the antenna
A UHF 70 cm version of this FT-2980 is what i'm looking for. With packet data port. I use these FT-2980 VHF for APRS and packet radio. But for 9k6 i'm still looking for a UHF trx. I hope that Yaesu made a UHF model.
My first HF rig was a Kenwood TS-430S with matching PS-430 power supply which I ended up giving it away to a disabled Ham that just got his General ticket as he couldn't afford an HF rig. I replaced it with a Yaesu FT-991a which I really love. I wanted a radio that would do 2 meter sideband 'cause we have a Wed. night local sideband net. I also have a Kenwood TM-281a, which is 65 watts for 2 meters only. My antenna is just a 2 meter antenna, a CushCraft Ringo Ranger II. HF antenna is an OCF dipole about 132 feet long. I also have an Antron 99 I use for 11 meters and 10 meters. My radio I ordered with the MARS mod so I could use it on 11 meters. Cheers & 73 from K9POW in eastern TN
I really enjoy 2 meter. In my area 146.520 is very active.i can throw my call sign out any time of day or night and someone will holler back. (East central ky) as far as hf. I have been listening for years with sdr. It reminds me of the cb chatter. Just cleaner. KQ4LPW 73
Yeah brother. Your gonna love it. I have an FT-2980 sitting on top of my FT10dx. Perfect combo for being able to work HF and still keep the 2m connected to the local repeaters.
I’ve been looking at this radio for a few days. I might get one while they are on sale.
I was the same way. Looked at radioes for a bit before I decided on this one. I’m glad I did. I paired it with the diamond A144s10 big yagi and it’s a beast. Highly recommend the radio. You will not be disappointed. Was a major upgrade for me.
@@Yelnats101 I’m probably going to get one. I currently have a ed fong dbj-1 antenna 25-27 feet up going into a yaesu ft-60r I need something that can get out further. Great video btw.
@@Hamradiolife24 thanks. And get the radio. It will not disappoint. Keep me updated. 73’s KQ4LPW
great upgrade!
Was a massive upgrade from what I was using. The 2980 is a great radio. And the antenna is killer. I get good reports on audio quality and signal strength. Easily get into repeaters 60-90 miles away on 40 watts
I put Blue tires on my 1972 too.
I like how they look. Better than black in my opinion
I was there Sat the 14th and had one of the best desserts I ever had. It was the deep fried peaches. Enjoyed the whole day. Will definitely be going back next year .
@@jeffmoler951 it starts again today
What’s the base holding the copper tubing made out of. Couldn’t really tell from the video
its a plastic composite of some sort
Did you measure the angle between the radiating elements? Would love to know.
. Given I’m using it so close to the ground it’s not super important. They are there to help (shape) the magnetic field. But they are exactly as the top elements. Length,Angle, etc
@@Yelnats101 curious what the manufactured angle is, I want to possibly replicate it for my own backyard/field day/POTA activities. Somewhat like making a tape measure Yagi-Uda, put some documentation to the process and then make a video possibly to help promote Sat Comm hobby.
@@jameski5oeb668 i will measure it and let you know tomm, and the widest and smallest part. but im sure is a 120 degree angle
Two questions 1. Is it OK entering someone’s corn field? 2. What are you going to do with weather balloon?
I always try to find the property owner and get permission. And if you can’t. In that area they know weather balloons land. They are a hazard to livestock and equipment. They don’t mind you going after it. And inside the white box is an electronic board. You can repurpose it for weather related task

It'd cheap here to.
When you live in the middle of nowhere and the supply is bigger than the demand price goes down.
Could you tell me the purpose of cutting out the drain plug?
So it wouldn’t be stepped on with new liner over it. Not sure it’s needed at all. Just gives for a smoother fit
One more question if you don't mind...what did you use to cover the hole from the drain plug..I believe you said 'hard plastic'?
@@donnasmith5958 I had a plastic jug that I cut the side out of. It was flat. The thickness was about 1/8 inch thick. Stiff plastic. Something like the thickness of a plastic tote
@@Yelnats101 I've been wondering the isles at Menards...I'll go home and cut another circle from the tote I made into a cat house! Thank you again!!

I envy you that you have big yard for men’s play
Thanks. My yard is a bit over an acre in size. I have plenty of space. Perc of living in the country
I just installed mine and we only have the pump that came with the pool. It has one gasket pad that sits on the outside liner but it’s leaking now. Any ideas?
it needs a second gasket from the way it sounds.. get a sheet of cork and cut one. if you have 2 liners. put it between the liners or else you will get water between the liners.
I agree with you, I am YouTubing for free storage my hiking memories
Well said. They will be here long after we are gone.
Wonderful ❤
Another great adventure, beautiful trails. Arch of Triumph is amazing. Thanks for bringing us along.
It looks ok watching it on a cell phone screen
I always use iPhone, it is not good enough but so convenient
It would be fine in a gimbal I think. It’s video stabilization is good but it has a hard time doing what it needs to do when walking.
What did u cover the drain plug u cut out to keep liner from bulging through hole
i had a plasict jug that had thick plastic, i cut the side of the jug out and used the piece i cut out, it was 1/8 thick. and placed it over the drain plug hole and just taped it down
What size of liner did you use? I have a 22 ft x 52 inch
this liner was for an 18 round 52 inch deep pool. my pool is 16x48
