      @@r3h4b I really liked their class. It's very focused on shooting. The lecture portion of class is less than two hours over the course of two days. If you haven't, check Ben's channel to see the lecture portion of his classes. I appreciated the class because it was effectively a supervised training session. Ben's feedback is direct but not hurtful and he really wants his students to succeed. Joel's feedback is good as well. If you've read his books the class is exactly like his books, focusing on a concept, how to do the concept right, ways to not do it right, and then shooting the concept. If you are at the point where you have to have regular training sessions to make shooting gains, or are dry firing regularly, then this will be a excellent class. If you haven't yet defined your draw, don't know which techniques are best for you, don't have a developed index, or don't practice regularly, this class would still be good but you might not get the best bang for your buck.

    Spend about 5% of your time working support hand only. I know of two cops who had to transition in the middle of the worst day of their lives. They are only alive because they practiced. Finding the dot support hand only isn’t automatic either.

    Hands by your side is the proper drill.

    • @gunpowderandpaper5567
      @gunpowderandpaper5567 6 місяців тому

      The proper drill setup also uses competition open holsters. Open holsters generally save from 0.1 to 0.25 seconds over concealed holsters with the same hand placement.

    • @RoxVrod
      @RoxVrod 6 місяців тому

      @@gunpowderandpaper5567 Do not want to be impolite or snowball a message. You are fast! However you are stacking the deck with your hand placement. A "Bill Drill" can be performed safely with any holster from 3/9 o'clock or forward, with your hands in a natural position. For me the drill is real if I can perform it two contexts: USPSA match or walking in public concealed carry. For me, then it is a real time. Ending on a positive note. I enjoyed your other videos taking the Ben Stoeger classes. I am beginning to go through many of his books (including the drills we are talking about) and look forward to taking one of his classes in the future. I wish I had started this type of training at your age. Keep training hard. I bet you will have a very successful match journey in USPSA. Hope to see you on podium soon. Good luck!

      @@RoxVrod It's hard to convey tone in text so I completely understand! I'm lucky I have the time and resources available now to practice and get good, Ben's info is golden. For defensive purposes I tend to have my hands up as my hands should be doing something in a defensive situation before I have to shoot, ether they're pushing someone, blocking, or holding something. You're right though that it's important to practice different hand positions and is something I need to practice more often. When I'm shooting for guns/awards/prizes I do stack the deck, especially when I start from the cheater position where I grasp my cover garment! While there are genuine uses for draws that start with grasping the garment for conceal carry shooting, I try to practice with hands up more often but "cheat" as necessary for prizes that really don't mean anything. I need to actually do some of the proper/classic Bill drills with my competition rig. I'm curious with my current limit is with my competition rig!
