Baby Ringmaster and P40
Used to fly them when I was young
Throw it in what tank? And what made the parts clean? And what kind of tank did you use? And what are the names of the freaking pieces of the engine? How about a little explanation?
Carburator part's cleaner gallon can from auto parts store
Parts are tank gasket, Venturi O ring, reed valve, pickup tube, spring, cam hex nut starter spring all from Cox international
Hoping to see the actual disassembly & reassembly in a viewable format. 😢
Yeah I need to fix it I'm actually new to UA-cam when I made that
Please put a link up. No success in searching on ebay.
Hi Terry thanks for bringing that to my attention try seller search 2011bartender4733 for now and let me know eBay list there New listings at the top of their search engine I end up getting further down the list will work on putting a link here thanks again, john

The music sucks!
Can you at least show what the planes look like!
Very cool ... I found a 1970 testars fly'em p51 mustang.... I know nothing about them but it's so cool I want to rebuild the motor but it's probably beyond help .... Any thoughts or ideas??? Maybe a new one??? Thanks 👍
Nice job!
thanks my planes are available on eBay control line models
Very cool. I had a Sterling p38 very similar to this back in the 70s
Thanks, I was impressed with how stable it is
Find me on eBay Control Line Model Airplane
Great job you two!!! Won Mouse Race back in the 70's with a Ringmaster solid wing doped in silk almost indestructible and taught a few kid to fly!! Great Times Thanks you two again!
Thanks trying to keep it alive
Just wondering what fuel do you have to use
Brings back memories. Those were great times.
Thanks they still are
Such a cool baby ringmaster!
Have not been able to find your kits, could you please post a link?
That little bitty o-ring was what I was missing on my dad's Black Widow thanks a million Bud she runs like a top🦅🇺🇸🏁😎
Nice -what type of lines are you using and how long? I have a baby Ringmaster have not flown yet.
25' Dacron lines with a Sig handle
Those are some really long flights! I don't remember my golden bee winding off that many laps per thankful...
No loops??? My baby ringmaster is in work.
Just test flites next video
This brought a smile to my face! I spent many an afternoon in my teenage years flying Cox .049 planes. Cox .049 was the engine I loved to hate because I had no electric starter and you could sit there flipping the prop at times until the cows came home and not get it to start.
Thanks Ed, Big part of our youthful experience hoping to bring back that joy or aggravation lolol
Great looking models
Thanks have a couple on ebay Hughes's models control line airplane
hey John you got some nice planes for sure
Thanks Joe getting ready to list a couple this week
I have a question. I have a .049 motor that seems to be locked up … just from sitting around a long time. If I take apart and clean it real good… do you think it would be alright or am I wasting my time since it’s locked up? My Dad use to run these with me when I was a boy. I found all of his old stuff and wanted to show my little girl how it works. All the motors are stuck though. Should I soak them in oil or something? I loved the hobby myself!!
There's a couple of tricks I use , a parts cleaner from AutoZone comes in a paint can with a dipping tray, working them lose with some PB blaster work's good. If you have a old crockpot put some straight antifreeze in it and let the parts simmer, make sure you remove any plastic parts from the engine first , once you get the piston loose and it has good compression should be good 👍 I've brought some back that should have been paper weights John
O like! Gracias
Great video i love u Control airplanes
Thanks I appreciate all feedback I'm working on new Model's be out soon
@@johnhughes6397 my friend you like pt19 airplane u Control hangar9?
Very good plane
@@johnhughes6397 i have one pt19 hangar9 one Flite streack top flite
I learned to fly with a Baby Ringmaster over 50 years ago. Graduated to a Jr Ringmaster, and eventually had a Regular Ringmaster. Fond memories of flying with my dad.
Thanks my dad gave me my first Fox 35 on my 15th birthday I still have it always brings back great memories when I put that handle in my hand like going back in Time I've since passed the hobby to my daughter 😁
@@johnhughes6397 love it! I've started trying to get a little fleet together for my 4 daughters to learn with..got a couple Coloplast flying wing trainers and a baby ringmaster all cox powered..can't wait for spring!
@@michpatriot2087 thanks those are really fun to fly and very durable there is a guy on eBay that sells the motor mounts for cora plastic planes
The almost constant climb and dive was making me motion sick, and I flew U control for about 20 years. I started with the Cox PT-19 Baby Bee .049, loved it.
Thanks , I've been working on more model's try to get them listed on my eBay store soon at Hughes Model's made a few improvements since I posted these videos
Coming soon to my eBay store @ Hughes Model's first test flight on the protype still in the development stages
Man, I got see sick after 30 seconds!!
Yeah if you're doing stunts it's not so bad also helps not to take your eyes off the plane when flying
Who makes these kits ?
My eBay store is Hughes Model's I will be listening soon
My eBay store is Hughes Model's Will be listing soon
Hold the camera steady with a tripod or something!
Still learning my friend next video
I would have appreciated if you used a mount to hold your phone or camera so we could see you do the work.
Desde Argentina te mando un saludo. Cuántos metros de línea lleva el modelo ? Gracias saludos 💪🏻
Keep trying...sooner or later you'll hit the ground! i felt more like a number 4 wood screw my first flights back after thirty plus years away. Now I like it more than RC.
Thanks for watching been awhile for me also still a great hobby John
@@johnhughes6397 Once I remembered the rule of not watching the background and watching just the plane I was fine, but those first few weeks, I almost gave it all up and went back to RC. I just made my first flight this year, with more than a year's layoff because of a move from sunny California to Eastern Kentucky, and no problem getting dizzy, just not fully ready to cut it all loose and fly the full pattern yet, it will happen sooner than later. I like CL because the FAA can't figure out how to regulate something that is lower in altitude than telephone poles!
@@jamesberwick2210 AMA is fighting the FAA lot of guys going back to CL I got to loop's inverted, after my 3rd Sig banshee
@@johnhughes6397 I was given a Banshee kit from an RC friend. I built it, modified it for a shorter nose, since I was going to use a 40. Changed wing construction when I found ribs all different, and put a nice finish on it. I flew it for about two years, first contest in advanced, first flight fine, second flight ended when the ground came up and claimed it out of the vertical eight, My death pile out in the back yard was pretty extensive with crashed airplanes learning the pattern. I have a Brodak FW-1909, greatly modified, used a Chizzler wing, bigger stab, made thicker rudder/fin and gave it scale paint scheme. It flies nice but not enough flights on it yet to tell. It appears to be a better plane than the pilot for now. I'm hoping to get more flights in this summer, move into a house, start building again.
Is that soapy water?
just a drop of dawn dish soap
@@johnhughes6397 Your models all have a great finish. You obviously have some serious experience in this area. I got some papilio, haven't used yet. The kit comes with a special soaking solution and a clear coat bottle. So you can just use store-bought Clear Coat Acrylic, how long do you let it sit after the spray? And just a small amount of dish soap to release the decal? This is great! The wizard of decals.
@@InThisStyleGMinor I spray about 3 coats let it dry overnight
@@johnhughes6397 Thanks for the tips!
@@InThisStyleGMinor hey George if you're using a Ink jet printer let the the ink dry for a at least a day before you spray the clear👍
Great to see you and your family having a great time with these planes.
Thanks it's a blast
Como hiciste para que esa mujer te acompañe en el hobby !!!
Es la hija, vuela mejor que el jajaja
nose heavy add little weight to tail
Thanks, next time we'll bring some sticky weights to trim them out
Ahhhuuuhuu raaaaaa ahhhh lmmfao 😂😂😂😂 omg im in the fuckin floor
No stunts?
Next videos, these were test flights plus I'm a little out Practice
Cam!!!! Crank!?!?!?!
Okay I think I know what you're asking I replaced the old prop back plate with a new hexagon back plate press it in to the crank shaft to accommodate Cox new spring starter's the old system was just a spring that eventually dug into the propellers the hex nut and plastic cam eliminates that problem
@@johnhughes6397 ok thank you that helped. Was slightly lost I guess .... new to the hobby. Can't wait to get the first done.
@@nivesknight ask me anything have new Videos on the way and new plane's getting ready on Ebay keep us flying John
@@johnhughes6397 cool I will have to take a look. I am hoping to find a multi cylinder for a tether car build. Price has been my biggest problem along with finding the smaller scaled examples seem to pop up every once in a while....
That laugh lmfao
I get that alot
how long are the lines in feet for flying the baby ringmaster. Wondering if I can fly it in my yard?
Sorry about the late response 25feet I usually go to a school yard with a baseball diamond
Totally awesome flights, greetings from Mexico! Alberto
Thanks Alberto keep us flying
Makin me dizzy 🛩 hahaha 🗣ruuuughh hhhaaaa ruuuuhhhh haaaa 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 omg im in the fuckin floor!! 😂😂😂😂
At around 4:08" of the video you show a tool that seems to do what I am looking for - what is the name of that tool and maybe you can describe briefly how to use it ?? Thank you again.
I bought that little tool from Cox International in Canada. Its a threaded to to the crankshaft and the other part threads on top and you just whack it with a hammer. And loosen and post crankshaft right out any nut and bolt will do the same
Do you have a video on how to remove the crankshaft from a Cox 049 engine ? I need to replace a crankshaft on one of my Cox engines and I don't want to damage it. I have removed the front screw that threads inside the crankshaft - but the prop driver seems to be holding the crankshaft .. so what's the best way to remove it ? Thank you for your time.
I see that (sadly) you never got a reply to your request for help…,abbé someone will respond now 🙏
just a quick video on Cox .049 engines and what new parts I add To all of rebuilt engines
This is my version of a P40 war-hawk with a Cox .049 Black Widow built to the same dimensions as a baby Ringmaster also working on a P51 Mustang version soon to be available on ebay
nice video thanks
Thanks I hope it helps
