Hi again, sorry to be a pest, but could you please explain your sub-titles regarding the air restrictions in this video. I understand the TMAs of Basel and Zurich with their height restrictions but cannot see any reference on the Glider map to the Glider port cylinder minimum of 1020m. Many thanks for info please.
I thought you had passed the theory? All civil airports and heliports that don't have a CTR, have a restriction of a cylinder of 5km (for airports) or 2.5Km (for heliports) radius, and a height of 600m AGL. These airports are all on the glider map
Yes I have passed the theory :-) Just couldn't see the airport on the glider map. I do now, just west of Olten. Sorry I was looking at your route home as being a bit further north.

Hi David, I had to redo the test when I moved to CH (I already had a license for more than 10 years before). I did it at Büelen as well, managed to f"*ç% up my first landing approach because the valley wind hadn't set in yet and it was switchy. So the pressure was on for the 2nd and 3rd attempt. Luckily then the valley wind was there and then it's much easier
I must say I am a little nervous. I passed my theory last Tuesday evening and immediately booked the practical in Verbier, as I have spent 2 weeks there gaining my IPPI3 and another 2 weeks preparing for the IPPI4. At least I know how the valley wind performs there. Can be strong at 50 meters + then below that nothing. You have to have a good view of the wind-sock. I only landed once at the official site, well landed isn't the correct word, I was 50m short and cut a long track through a corn field. Hopefully not to be repeated on Wednesday. I will let you know my result and hopefully I can get some tips from you on flying from the Weissenstein.

Looked like another super day. I have just returned from my two week intensive course in Verbier and now have my IPPI3 pilot certificate and working toward my IPPI4. I would very much like to make contact with a local club where I can speak English as my German is still so bad. Could you please help or advise me where and with who I can make contact. I live in Lommiswil, right under the Weissenstein. Look forward to meeting up some time and maybe flying together. I would like as much local information about flying in the Jura, tips and things to be aware of. Any help would be very much appreciated. Best regards, Dave Lewis

Hi, I do a two week intensive course in July (in English) for the EU Club Pilot Licence, then I go again for another two weeks intensive in August to gain my 50 high flights with practical and theory for the SHV/FSVL Swiss pilots licence. Then I take the exams in early September.
That seemed like the perfect day.

Normally, I kind of like hearing an ostinato, but in those normal cases, it is kind of in the background of something that can be described as a melody. The incessant stereotype-noise in this vid's case caused me to greatly appreciate the mute button.

You can maintain low flight at coastal sites for example, where the lift band produced by a steady sea breeze and some cliffs or dunes is enough to keep you aloft (btw this is what paragliders refer to as soaring; flying using dynamic lift produced by wind hitting an obstacle such as a hill, as opposed to using thermals as sources of lift. Sometimes you have both like in this video). Much more fun to fly high though :-)
This is a beautiful video makes me want to take up the sport. My concern in paragliding is - how low can i fly and maintain that level? Just don't want to deal with soaring in te beginning.
