Updates on restoring / resto-modding the 1969 Corvette.
Life gets in the way of Restoring Cars. And more inflation with auto parts??

Do it! I went with dougs.

Thank you.
You doing amazing work and inspire people in small garages to keep going! Good luck!
Thank you!
You telling me tires auto parts r over sky with prices 🇺🇲
Crazy sky high.
The media pundits keep claiming that the economy is doing great and that inflation is beat. I call BS, I have been in business all my life and it has never been worse, for us not even the 2008 meltdown has hit us this hard. Because of inflation people have no disposable income, most can still afford the necessities of life, but almost everything else is off the table. If this gets worse I don't know what I am going to do... And I agree with you inflation is about to get worse again, and there is no stopping it.
Yes, i agree using a hammer and a punch on fiberglass sounds really bad. Thanks for the video, I've got to the same thing to my 75 C3.
EVERYTHING worthwhile takes effort and time. Some restos take years to complete. Your car is awesome! It's amazing that you're doing all that work yourself and what's even more amazing, that you're sharing it with us. I look forward to your videos. Inflation is the natural outcome of the path we've taken. A country with a diminishing tax base can't fund two wars, forgive loans for worthless degrees, support millions of incompatible (that's least offensive word I could think of) people through illegal immigration, etc., and remain solvent. Also, I believe for the first time in a Western nation, our average IQ and life expectances are dropping. The culture that made the US the envy of the world is rapidly decaying. With all that said, I think inflation may be the least of our concerns.
Man are you correct on that one. I don't think I'm that brilliant, but my god man compared to others I run across. Wow.... Thank you, I am still chugging along to get this finished. I hope soon!
@@nicholasjackson3344 Oh, I got on such a rant, I forgot to ask about the paint. (LOL) This is probably a dumb question, but could there be chemical/mechanical properties in auto paints that may make them more resistant to minor fracturing on parts that are subjected to constant flexing and or cyclic thermal expansion/contraction e.g. the hood? Properties that may not be existent in rattle can type paints.
@@billydee8051 There is. Some paints have a special blend that gives it more flex. But I think you need to mix it properly. So spray can paint won't work.
Spray on gelcoat may have been easier and more uniform to use as a top coat for prepping and painting. But all roads lead to Rome when fabricating fiberglass panels. You’re almost there! Good job!
Sweet
Thanx for another excellent video. That diffuser is going to be awesome. While I've been a purest with my car, I really appreciate what you're doing with yours. It's going to be beautiful when you're done. I sure hope you're wearing eye protection with all that grinding. You gotta protect those peepers.🙂
Both eye and mask protection. I hope it turns out good. It seems to have taken me forever to get this far. lol.
Hi Nic! I really appreciate you sharing this awesome project with us! Your dogged determination, along with your passion for details really serves your vision for that ‘69 Street Shark! I really enjoy seeing mild C-3 customs, and consider each one a inspirational passionate expression of the owner’s vision, resulting in a masterpiece that honors the body style. Your’s certainly achieves that outcome in many ways! Enjoy wrapping that BadBoy up and wishing you many many years of thrills with it! God Bless!
Thank you, I really do try to keep it mild with my designs. Anymore wild and it isn't really a Corvette anymore. lol. I hope I just get people to turn their heads and say, "Wait, that isn't stock!" Haha.

Hey, Nic I would try to fill those weld lines with melted material like what it’s made from, sand it down smooth, then just spray a gel coat product that hardens and if you are still interested in it being ultra sturdy…lay the fiberglass mat in the underneath side. That way, the spray on gel coat will give you a more finished look with a whole lotta less labor! Consider making a mold of the finished product for any future needs or even wants from your viewers! You put a ton of hours into this and it would be a shame not to be able to reproduce it from a mold. Hope this helps!
I plan on making the 3d File available soon. That way anyone can make their own. Saves me time in making a mold. lol.
Car has a healthy rumble
Thank you.
Hey nic where can I download the files for the diffuser?
I will release it soon, I want to make sure this is the final fitment first. So stay tuned and I get it out there to you guys.
no rust. god bless. in rust belt u break the crossbolt for the ball joint many times
Yeah, you're not joking.
I’m looking at some rural property in Central Nevada. I guess I know who’s gonna come up and fence it and build a greenhouse for me by the way can you build a tiny house as well?
Oh my.... Tiny house not so much! lol.
Looks like a beautiful area is that pond Springfed?
No, there is a man made canal that goes behind the house.
It’s coming along great. I’m not sure if you’ve said but I would keep it in 3 pieces overlapping. If you have any breakages or chipping you would easily reprint that piece & repair quickly. In saying that I would try meek it all from 3D print with an export coating for added strength then paint. Try not add any glass to it so you can replicate it exactly. You’ve gone this far so you might as well finish it off perfect 😆👍 Again Job well done
Sweet project.
wish I could disconnect the plate like a detachable face, that's all that's missin..
Yeah, that would have been awesome.
Thanx for another great video of your most excellent ride. I used the same stuff, 3MM Weather Strip Adhesive, all of my weather stripping on the entire car. Like you said, it can be a little messy but it holds like no other.
Yeah, it sure does hold well. Just messy for sure.
Looks great!
Making progress.
Prep is the key to a great paint job. Base black plus 5 coats of spray can 2K clear cut and buffed would look better than a cheap professional paint job.
Excellent. A little less talk and a lot more action
You didn't design it to have all the panels snap together? Or use some plastic weld clips, the metal clips with a electric gun that heats it and sinks them into the plastic to hold? Or is this just a test to then make your own carbon fiber permanent splitter? Freaking cool design!!!! You might have a decent side Hussle selling carbon fiber ones if this is your first to make the mould Ewww don't use hot glue. You are adding material to the middle making it bigger. Should use a CA glue with spray setter to harden it on contact
This is going to be the inner shell, I will lay fiberglass over the top of it to make it strong. From what I have learned from other people this is the way to go. I'm learning as I go. So we will see.
Are you going to load the STL files for the splitter on Thingaverse?
@@OzyMark I might after I get the dimensions more correct.
Making progress.
It looks great! where you came up short at the point can’t you just bring it out to there and trim the wings back?
I am going to fiberglass the outer shell part. So I will just extend the fiberglass out to match the front splitter.
To keep it flat maybe hand sand with long block?
I over sanded my rear quarter with a da then had to add material to restore contour
@@andrewledoux8683 I have a long block and use it often. But the way the seat sits I had to do some adjusting else where.
I’m a big fan. Keep going.
@@andrewledoux8683 Can't stop now!!!! lol.
As always, thanx for a great video. Your car is one of a kind. Minor suggestion though...it would probably be a good idea to wear eye protection when using your new sander. Gotta protect those peepers. 🙂
@@billydee8051 yeah you are right. I got ahead of myself and forgot eye protection
Good work.
Wow! I can see you designing and producing parts for C-3’s and any car! Definitely make molds! When you’re done with scanning the finished products on your car, run the scan and have a scale model made of your car! Hot Wheels! Maybe even a plastic model car kit! I think you’re onto something! With a scale model, you can have some engineering student run it through a wind tunnel to prove your concept! It already looks awesome, I’m sure you improved the aerodynamics, but by how much? 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I know right! Anything is better then the big parachute that the rear end produces! lol. I was thinking of making a RC car or just a model to take to car shows.
@@nicholasjackson3344 Think Big.
I cannot believe that someone would have that car, and put fender flairs on it, but it’s your car, I hope you are happy with the end product. That has to effect the value too, and not in a good way. I am watching the video as I type this, and just noticed that it’s a 427 car! SMH.
Nothing is original with this car before I got it. The rear fenders were already flared before I got it. The value is already lost. So it was a great car for a restro-mod!
Your an inspiration, but i spend more time watching you then working on my project
lol. Well I guess that might be a good thing? lol.
Finally after smashing the Subscribe button a dozen times it finally started subscribed
Well thank you!!
C3 rocks
Yes they do!
That Deloreanwas awesome as hell!! And the Mini!!
It’s interesting to see how we begin a project picturing something in our mind’s eye, and then, as we progress, it takes on a slightly different direction. Are you going to paint it matte black, shiny, or a combination of both?
I'm thinking as of right now just body color. But Matte Black might look good. Thanks for letting me think about it. Matte might look really good. We will see.
Hey from the South Carolina Coast. I have a C2 1964 Sting Ray L76 327/365hp Muncie close ratio 4 speed, all original, matching numbers, documented 40,100 miles, mint. Also a 1995 convertible with semi rare hard top from factory, 42k miles, mint. A 1996 Z51 with 60k miles, mint. My 2007 Z51 3LT Atomic Metallic Orange is my fave to drive. Original owner 9k miles. It's hard to say what one is the best. The 64 for weekend car shows and my 2007 for driving around town and blowing Stangs away.😂😂
Nice collection!!!
Awesome 👍
Want to make another for my 79?
MMM..... Maybe. I will be have to lighten this one once I am done. So I might make a mold after I get all the shaping done on this one.
I was going to try and do the same thing for mine! Good luck!
That's going to look awesome
Thank you!
Love the front and rear flares. Impressed with your work on the front fenders. Very tasteful. Not so much the diffuser. I liked the clean look better.
That is the good thing about the diffuser, it can always be taken off.
I agree with you about paint. I’m in the middle of painting my 1972 with spray cans. I’m using base plus 2K clear. All about prep. Amazing results with new type spray nozzles plus 2K paint is near professional quality.
@@andrewledoux8683 I'm pretty impressed with the 2k paint so far.
Why would I be interested in a shirt boomer? You have 500 subs, don't you think this comes across as a bit delusional? Is this why your wife had an affair with your cousin?
Good work.
Thank you.
Aluminum sheet metal with rivets, or self tappers, would also work. I would make a mold before the final installation in case it would ever get damaged, you could replicate it. At this point, your mods could also look great without bumpers, bubble tail lights, chrome delete, and in full road-race trim. Also consider making a mold of the front clip as a tilt front to offer a complete body kit. You are very talented and the industry needs fresh ideas on modding these street beasts! Congrats on your labor of love!
Thanks, To do all that I would need a bigger garage! lol. I agree, it more fun to see something that is a little different. I love original cars don't get me wrong, but I am thinking if this is in a row of C3's people will stop and look at mine longer just to see the mods.
@@nicholasjackson3344 I don’t particularly care for original cars, although I can appreciate one when it’s got what I like. What you have accomplished in that garage, is nothing short of amazing! If and when I get my ‘69, I want to mod it as a Greenwood road racer like his ‘69! The flares, the hood, plexiglass light covers, etc, etc. I would’ve maybe gone an extra couple of inches on the rear spoiler and swapped out for bubble tail light lenses. It’s yours put your mark on it, and enjoy! Thanks for sharing your content and views with us! 👍💪🇺🇸
@@Jabbernack I have never seen a Greenwood Road Racer in real life. They do look awesome though. I'm more like you and would rather have something different.
Looks great I’m sure the final product will be awesome. I am surprised you didn’t use more of a rigid material to cut back on the hours of Sanding ahead.
What can I say, I love sanding! lol. Jk. This is my first go at building one. If I was to do it over, I have learned and would go a different route. I think if I would have done it differently I would use plastic for most of the parts. Either way we all learned from me doing this. Hope this inspires people.
I drive a C6 corvette owned it for seven years for me it’s the best Generation bottom line is it’s fun to drive
Love the C6
Looks really good. I don’t know how you work in the heat like that. I guess it’s a dry heat right 118 feels like 99 LOL
I go inside every 20 mins and cool down and drink a lot of water.
