a FULL DAY of recording a NEW SONG (part 11)
this song is a reflection of everything i've been learning and experiencing during this journey of creating my first album. it's been such a wild process of experimenting with sounds and pouring my heart into every track.
i know that the final product will be night and day from this demo, but i truely believe that a great song should sound good from day 1. maybe this is good, maybe it isn't?
cheers,
reb x

writing your own music isn't as hard as you think, here's my process (part 10)
Переглядів 10621 годину тому
while recording the last few songs, i was doing more songwriting and have decided on recording some new tunes. i'd say that the process of writing these songs was already such a change from when i first started. i also think starting to get addicted to producing so i guess this is a good sign :))) i am definitely still going through a huge exploration phase as each song is quite different from ...
listening to music in the car will tell you the truth (part 9)
Переглядів 6914 днів тому
got to listen back to my demos and there's no better way to reveal the truth than to play them in the car. this was a super eye-opening experience and i also proved to myself that i was making improvements as i progressed onto each song. i already have a list of improvements that i'd like to make but i think for now, it's important to just finish the ideas and moving onto the next step. i have ...
how i'm trying to live a meaningful life.

find the kind of art that you want to share with the world and this doesn't have to quite literally be art. it's a metaphor for finding the actions you want to take and the way you want live a life, for yourself, thats long in a reality that's short. i hope this makes sense but maybe all this will ever be is a nonsensical blurb from a personal entry. i don't care either way, it still feels like...
a full day RECORDING GUITAR and MORE HARMONIES (part 8)
Переглядів 781Місяць тому
looking back on this process has left me with such a rewarding feeling. i still see that steep mountain ahead but as i'm climbing, i'm able to take short breaks to just enjoy just how far up i've gone so far. to someone more experienced, this is probably still very amateur but to me, it's almost night and day. i think the biggest win has been the confidence i have to execute my ideas and no lon...
sharing some creative RECORDING IDEAS (part 7)
Переглядів 159Місяць тому
i dont know how many hours i've spent browsing youtube and trying to piece together different recording techniques and production tricks. but it's taught me an insannnnnne amount and it has made this whole process so much more accessible for me. sometimes you have to make do with what you've got and get as creative as possible. i'd love to know if you use youtube as a learning tool, as much as ...

wow thankyou so much! i hope you'll stick around
What mic do you use to record at home? Everything sounds really good!
thankyou! it's crazy how i feel the exact opposite haha goes to show how critical we tend to be. i use a tlm103 as my main workhorse
I just know I'm going to have this album on repeat the second it comes out.
wow thankyou!
Very nice 😊

I'm so happy that the algorithm gods decided to show me your channel. Been following this process along with you and it's really inspiring, and seeing you listen to your own songs in the car makes me so happy! Keep up the good work my friend!
thank you so much! i appreciate you choosing to spend your following along this journey. i hope you'll enjoy the songs when they come out!
Nice job! I just spent the summer recording my first album, a brutal but highly rewarding experience. Keep going!
thats amazing! i'm sure it was just as rewarding as it is for me
Beautifully put man
Thanks alot Ken!

Has a like Blackbird 🐦⬛ feel to it. Sounds good
it's an honor to even be compared to it !
Great cover! 👍
Sounds great. Good luck!
thankyou!!
really cool! what mic are you using for vocals?
One of them is a Sennhesier mic that belongs to a friend and my trusty TLM 103
Great 😊
Sounds really good man, keep going!
Thankyou!
niiiiiice man =D
What microphone did you use for the Over-The-Shoulder recording?
@@TheSlazzer Its the cheap rode condenser, I think the NT series? I don’t have any other LDC so I just use the two that I’ve got
6:41 Soo true. I'm in the middle of producing and mixing a song for a punk rock band and its the first mix that I'm doing. I've already learnt so much but I've also spent so much time correcting previous mistakes, but that's just a part of the process. Also I can really recommend buying a producing/mixing/mastering book because its just able to teach you in so much more depth than 50 uncoordinated youtube videos. (Not to say youtube videos cant provide valuable information. Its just better to get it from one source than 50 different.)
@@TheodorNickelsen oh for sure! I usually go to books first but I find that they don’t teach the creative sound design trick like using a “shock absorber” etc. But they’re great for technical approaches !
these visuals are amazing ✨
Hoy cow that sounds FIRE 🔥
Just randomly got recommended this vid - the algorithm did me a solid! The harmonies give off a bit of a Bon Iver type of comforting & hauntingly beautiful aspect. You gained a subscriber!
Appreciate it Carson! It's super humbling to even be in the same in the sentence as Bon Iver. Can't wait to show you more!
Hey brother, I'm a musician too, keen to tag along and see your progress. I was actually thinking of also documenting my creation process, seems like a great way to share inspiration ✌️
Hey! Thanks so much for sharing and I fully support you chasing your dreams! I think document is just an amazing way to show yourself just how far you've come!
Love this ❤😊
This is SOOO cool!! How is this series not getting more attention?!?! Also I love these harmonies and just the vibe and everything 10/10. I'm actually really exited to hear this album when its done!
Thanks so much theo!! I'm super excited to share them soon and I'm already deciding on the next set of songs to record. Not sure what will make the "album" cut but exciting times ahead!
5:49 OOUU That sounded cool though! Might not fit the vibe but I always like when unexpected things happen lol. I have really enjoyed this series! Keep it coming!
hahah you might be right! it's hard to know until you try though !
🥺
🥺
I just discovered your channel and I liked your entire series on your album and I plan to do the same for this one. What you do is motivating! Keep going! I'm going to pick up my acoustic guitar again and never give up! Except that I don't have a road map to learn and I end up getting discouraged. I would like to be able to compose my songs. Any advice for me!?🥺
really appreciate it ! i'm glad you find it motivating and i hope you keep up with the acoustic guitar! don't give up as well!

I appreciate you sharing the real and raw side of your journey. The good, the bad, and the messy are all important moments in our journey. This allows us to reflect, assess and pivot in the right direction. You’re doing the best you can with what you have, and we can all see the time, care and love you’re putting into this craft. 1% better every day champ. We’re backing you 🐶🍔
thanks salvatorezoccoli9211 ! i totally relate to what you're saying. We're all humans at the end of the day so who am i to pretend it's an easy process. 1% everyday champ is the way

Just keep going Reb. Some of my favorite albums were recorded on small budgets (all Rodriguez albums come to mind) and those recordings actually make the music what it is. At the end of the day it's about the songs. Remember to reconnect to your "why". Focus on your unique expression. If you can improve something by just 1% everyday the quality that you feel is lacking at the moment will come. The most important thing is to just keep going. Still looking forward to hearing what you put down. 🙌
i appreciate the amazing reply! it's super reassuring to hear your perspective on it. i definitely agree with you, nothings going to stop me. but i also think its important to keep documenting the ebbs and flows because it's also a very real side of the story
🤍
Would love to hear the full version!
you are doing a great job!🙃
thankyou! i hope you'll stick around!
loving following this journey
you doing a good job my friend, inspiring! 🤍
amazing video!
appreciate it !
❤😊
Nice video, your voice is Amazing ;)
awesome
its gunna slap
This whole documentation is so reminiscent of the "Making an album" videos I would obsess over when I was younger. Thank you for sharing your process, I love it.
thankyou so much! Documenting everything I do has been a super important thing for me. I know I would spend hours trying to see the process of some of my favourite artist's and always loved getting even a glimpse of their story
the confidence in just hitting record is SO relatable. i really enjoyed this style of video, good job man!! and great sounds <3
appreciate it! it eventually gets to the point where if you want to progress forward, you have to face the uncomfortable. Would you rather do it now or later?
i love it
so glad i found it
thanks misha! thats so kind of you
