The information directly below was copied from the summary visit notes completed by Dr. Lattisha Bilbrew after the appointment was over. After reading the notes, I became incensed because of the inaccuracy and obvious attempt at cover up. Therefore, I wrote the letter below and emailed it to the Resurgens office where Dr. Bilbrew works. In the event this pain continues, I will need medical treatment. ================================== Assessment and Plan The following list includes any diagnoses that were discussed at your visit. 1. Fibromyalgia 2. Bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome • Wrist Brace Discussion Note Patient presenting with a constellation of symptoms that may represent fibromyalgia I informed the patient she should follow-up with her PCP or rheumatologist in order to solidify this diagnosis In the meantime a diagnostic carpal tunnel injection was performed into her right wrist When attempting to perform the same injected in the left wrist the patient jerked her hand which drove the needle further into her wrist I was able to pull the needle out We decided not to pursue the needle due to her nervousness of having a cortisone injection She was given bilateral carpal tunnel braces Follow-up with me in 4 weeks ================================================================================ To: Resurgens Orthopedics To: Dr. Lattisha Bilbrew I am sending this message because of questions and concerns that I have regarding my orthopedic appointment today. After reading the visit notes recorded by Dr. Lattisha Bilbrew, I have even more concerns. In the visit note, you stated that I jerked my hand once the needle was injected which drove the needle further into my wrist. When the needle was injected into my right hand, I did Not jerk my hand. It went quite well. However, when the needle was injected into my left hand, it was either driven too far by you or not driven into the correct spot. It hit a nerve and Only Then did I jerk my hand due to the flash of white, hot, electric pain that I felt in my thumb, index finger, and middle finger. At the same time, I pushed the chair that I was sitting in as a natural reflex and attempted to get away from the pain. I did not jerk my right hand so why would I jerk my left hand? I barely felt the pin prick in the right hand so I had no reason to anticipate or expect it to be different with the left hand. I totally disagree with the sequence of events that you presented in the visit notes. There will be no putting the cart before the horse here. Also, you did Not pull the needle out. The needle came out as a result of my jerking and pushing the chair backward. Again, I do not agree with your sequence of events. Had your visit notes been accurate, I doubt if I would be writing this letter to you right now. A further concern is, I am wondering why you did the injection in the first place. At the moment of my office visit, my hand was Not hurting. I normally wear copper-infused gloves and they work well. There was no pain in my hands at the moment. According to your explanation prior to injecting the needles, you stated that my hands would be numb for 48 hours. Immediately upon leaving the office, I went out and sat in my car in the parking lot. Previously, I had scheduled video appointment with my counselor at 3pm for one hour. I explained the full situation to him of what had occurred including the horrendous pain and numbness. He takes copious notes. I left the parking lot when my video session was over at around 4pm. The numbness had stopped and now some 12 hours later, there is no numbness and thankfully no pain. So what was the purpose of the injection? Outside of doing an EMG and NCS, a Carpal compression test can be conducted to determine the presence of carpal tunnel. Why was not that done? One final concern: As I was about to check out of the office, I had a couple of questions (which I have asked above). The desk attendant walked back to let you know that I had questions. You directed her to tell me to make an appointment with my PCP. So basically because you have a higher ranking you directed her to run interference so you did not have to face me. At that point in time, I had questions for YOU. Not the desk attendant and not my PCP. It was quite cowardly of you not to face me at that point in time. I am sending these questions and concerns to you because I want answers. I request this answer to be via email and a letter of same to my address on file. In case you choose NOT to answer me, I will also send this message to whomever you report, Resurgens corporate office. I will NOT make another appointment with you. Rather, I will go to another orthopedic doctor for a second opinion.

Pt has compartment syndrome, all facia must be cut to open up the inflamed muscle secondary to trauma. Otherwise blood vessels and nerves inside those muscles are squeezed and tissue dies and Pt looses leg via amputation, or can die from necrosis and gangrene.

This doctor is handling this patient very roughly. I don’t like that just because a patient is unconscious. Doesn’t mean that when they wake up, they won’t feel the pain. Have you ever rubbed an open wound that vigorously?😮😢

I have one in my ankle. Preferred me to an orthopedic oncologist in Augusta Georgia. Went to an orthopedic Dr. Had an x- ray then an MRI. Then another MRI with contrast. I was shocked when i was told i needed to see an orthopedic oncologist. That this was rare. Mine is a lump between my ankle bone and heel. It started pressing on nerves and causing pain. Why i went to an orthopedic. Mine isn't red, but Dr says it's large taking up all the space in that small area. Waiting on the oncology office to call me with an appointment. It's been a couple of days no call. Since the Dr is 120 plus miles from home. I have called and set up an appointment on the 30th with an oncologist. Hoping they can work together, for i have no one to take me so far away for chemo and radiation. I'm older an don't know if i can handle just the treatment. An don't kmow if it has spread. 😢

@@retrojordan7484 You really need it checked out. Could be a blood clot. I thought mine being in the ankle was just fluid but it is a solid mass. Most of these lumps are benign. They can be ganglion cysts or mypomas. Think I spelled that right. It's just fatty tissue, but they can grow to be huge. I've watched Dr , pimple popper remove many right in her office. I wasn't scared about going to have mine checked, they see something on the MRI but I'm staying positive ,the biopsy will be the telling of what it is.

great talk, very insightful from someone who has a lot of experience with these type of injuries, I am curious does your management change for the found down compartment syndrome in which the patient has been down for sometimes 24 hours or more, are you still aggressively taking these pts for fasciotomy? I have read that in these situations that we may be late to the game already and by performing large open incisions we may be unnecessarily increasing the risk of developing deep infection, all thoughts appreciated
