    If I remember correctly, it was 2 things. The carb's were loose on the rubber manifolds and they were slightly out of sync with each other.

    Never seen this morris before as I see the comments its an overseas model. As I can see it was only a down under car. Assume body panels were fabricated there. Great to see a car that I’ve never seen before. Thanks for the history.

    I've never seen one of these before - clearly only made/sold in Australia- the central section looks like Wolesley 1500...

    • @jasongoulding
      @jasongoulding Рік тому

      Hi Johno, yes an Australian build car to suit local conditions and local-content build laws of the time. A real parts bin special but they sold well down here.

      I’m pretty sure that BMC sold the same car under three names Morris Major Elite Austin Lancer Wolseley 1500 They were pretty much mechanical identical but Morris had a different grille design ( not dissimilar to an a40 Farina) compared to Wolseley and Austin.

    What suspension tweeks do you have on it. Seems too keep up with some awfully quick British cars.

    • @jasongoulding
      @jasongoulding Рік тому

      Hi Andy, to be fair i dont believe those other cars were trying too hard but the mods are minimal. Lowered front ride height with upgraded front shocks and the rear is all standard Morris. Sticky tyres (120 tread wear) are the biggest improvement.

    The steering wheel nut is heading off soon. Had a very busy Xmas and then straight back to work. Its been riding in my car every day but the grey matter hasn't reminded me to post it yet. Your Morry is looking good. The head is off mine and I burnt out the gap between the chambers in the alloy. They can weld it up and then it's back on the road.

    • @jasongoulding
      @jasongoulding Рік тому

      Thanks, the grey matter usually fails me at this time of year too. Not good to hear yours is having a problem, but it gives you something to fix on the weekends I suppose. Cheers.

      Hi Charlie, these cars were an Australian and New Zealand model only, using a mixture of locally sourced and BMC parts to satisfy Australian-content laws of the time. 1622 motor and a bunch of Morris Minor parts under the skin.

    Sounds pretty similar to my old girl. I made a set of stainless headers and was running a Chinese weber. It runs a baffled hotdog under the passenger floor and an open hotdog near the back. I also lowered mine at the front and replaced the bump stop rubbers with small shocker springs about the size of valve springs. I had coil over shocks in addition on the rear but it gave it too much over steer with the CIG diff. Good to see you rounding a few cars up. 👍

    • @jasongoulding

      I'm down on power. My stock 1200 doesn't have the oomph to match these guys. I'm having to work hard to catch them up in the corners and braking.
