thanks, just FYI when I started reading sheet music way back in the 1950's, we did not count the first measure as you wrote. But I certainly could be out of date on that. We counted 1, 2, &3, 4, not 1, &, 2:3, 4. So the notes were played on 1, & (i.e., the '&' between 2 and 3), 3, 4. The dotted '1' note extended over into our count '2'. Hope I explained that OK. Someday I'm going to review 'cut time' again, I can't remember what that was about!😏
Now that you say that, I realize you're right. I goofed. It should be 1, 2 & 3, 4, not 1&, 2, 3, 4. Thank you for pointing that out - I appreciate you! I was taught to count the first measure, but to be aware it's allowed to be an incomplete measure.
