    What do you do when your local golf course has no short game area at all. The driving range has some cones that are in 10 yard increments but that's all we got. Not to mention some of the golf balls at the range were probably around when Arnold Palmer was a rookie, so you can't even work on distance control, the compressions are all over the place

    • @wickedsmartgolf
      @wickedsmartgolf 2 дні тому

      That’s rough for sure! Could always use a shag bag of old balls and hit them at a park with cones at different distances - whatever it takes right? Other idea is launch monitor with net at home or chipping buckets if you have a big enough backyard

    A few years ago I tore all the muscles loose from my left rotator cuff. I was not allowed to pick up a golf club for a year and a half. I couldn't remember how to hit the ball. I have taken lessons and not one course pro has ever told me where to put the ball in my stance. So with every club I put the ball in the middle of my stance. Sometimes I hit a good shot most times I don't. None of the teachers around here want to teach, they just want to be paid

      Very sorry to hear that and hope your injury is healed up. Ball position needs to change based on the club you're hitting. Ha. I literally just gave unsolicited advice today and I felt bad afterwards. I never usually do it but the person in front of me was getting frustrated but they were swaying so bad in the backswing I thought they were gonna break their hip right off !! Lol. I showed them and told them to look up the Tiger butt back drill. I’m an 8 handicap but I’ll resist the temptation from now on. There’s only 9 million more things they’d have to learn anyway 👍

    Best advice for me has been to have a memory like a gold fish. If I hit that bad shot, need to let it go and focus on what I have. Don't try to make up the bad shot. Accept the mistake and accept the score on that hole will not be so good, but dont let it be terrible.

      lol all I said is 3:1 tempo, in general most everyday golfers are wayyyyy to slow. Slower tempo like Freddy or Colin M can work but need perfect mechanics… which most don’t have. Getting 3:1 tempo makes it easier to sequence + add speed

    "Never up, never in" always struck me as an idiotic statement. As you'll naturally have a "circle" of dispersion (wave function/spatial probability distribution), to average less strokes you need the centre of that circle to be on the hole, not passed it. Sure, you may hole a bit less (not even sure, empirically) but you'll average significantly less... Tour pros seem to have discovered that, lately. Probably through decade as Scott Fawcet talks about that about as passionately as me!

    I always thought the "Keep the lead heel planted on the backswing" advice, despite it being commonly accepted, is awful. It creates twisting on the spine and lead side in general (knee, hip, etc.) which is destructive to the body. I believe letting the lead heel float an inch or two helps add power, and yes, accuracy, without sacrificing the body.

      @@wickedsmartgolf The ten mental golf mistakes, tournament golfer vs golfer who plays tournaments, and the stop setting score goals videos each helped. One of the tips for the mental golf video was widening my focus and narrowing it when I got closer to the ball. I knew I was playing well and didn’t want to think about my score so whenever my mind would shift in the direction towards thinking about my score, I’d focus on what colors I was currently seeing and associating them with sports teams. On the tenth hole, my ball was in a greenside bunker and I couldn’t stand fully in the bunker. I referred back to the tournament golfer vs golfer who plays tournaments video and planned to turn the bad break into an opportunity to show off my short game. I put one foot in the bunker with one foot out and hit one of my greatest tournament shots ever, leaving myself a tap in. The no score goals video helped out by giving me an incentive to not try to know my score because of the Kenny Perry incident at Augusta. When I added everything up, I was shocked to know I shot 76! There are so many more videos I intend to watch and I might pick up a copy of your book.

    I'll try these suggestions. I'm playing in a Pastors' Tournament in 2-weeks. I hope these tips help me out. I definitely need to change my pre-shot routine.

    I usually have no problem breaking 80, however it's always the back nine that puts me over that 160.

    I never want to know my current score while playing. Sometimes when playing in a tournament or scramble and another player has my card, they typically tell me my current score or ask if I want to know it. I try to avoid being aware of it, but what I do is play 3-hole rounds at a time. Example, for the first 3 holes, if I score +1 or +2, then I forget that score and start fresh for the next 3-hole round. My goal is to score par or better for each 3-hole round, This method gives be a chance to re-focus on the next 3-hole round, if the last one was over par. ⛳

      Love this! I’ve chopped up rounds to 3 holes at a time & love it. Keep up the good work
