Product Link: amzn.to/4ilVpV6 We mounted up some cheap solar lights on the back of our OVRLND Campers truck camper. This is the first time we tested them out at camp and they worked out great. You can also set them to turn completely off, and if you walk up, they turn on to full brightness. That's actually the setting we used after 10pm. Great for those 3am pee sessions!

“Toilet Trees” 😂
Thank you for the video been looking for something like this. I also have a 06 tundra.
No problem. Hope it works out good for you.
Are they clever enough to allow reverse charging of your cars battery by hooking up a solar panel to the truck? That is the question.
This model is not. But I'm hearing the F2000 model will have that feature.
I just picked up the Anker C1000. I'm currently testing it by having it power my Alpicool dual zone 12v fridge. So far it's powered the fridge for 45 hours, and the Anker still has 46% battery life..I'm thinking it will run it for at least 3.5 days. Maybe in super hot climate 3 days.. I have the setup a few feet away from my woodstove to simulate summer temperatures.
Sounds about right. And I love how quick it recharges.
Are you running a stock alternator? Do you know what the output of it is?
Stock alternator for the 2006 Tundra with tow package. Not sure.
@@dirtnsmores The nice part is being able to choose between 3 watt charges , I'ld stick with 300 for my car , but if I get a truck or van can up it to 500 .
This is awesome! Was going to purchase the Bluetti Charger 1, with 2-100 watt renogy panels, but it does not allow simultaneously charging.
So far I'm loving this setup.
Good demonstration. I might want something like this.
Thanks. So far it's working out great. I'm working on another video right now that's a little bit shorter, just going over some of the details of how it works. Stay tuned!
So, if I'm in my van and moving around, that could likely trigger that vibration sensor and cause it to start taking charge from my starter battery, even if my engine isn't running? It sounds like a good way to discharge my starter battery. I don't care if it stops discharging my starter battery at 12.4 volts. I don't want it to discharge my starter battery AT ALL if the engine is not actually running. Maybe I could install one of those old-school relays between this and the battery, so it is disconnected when the vehicle isn't running, but it is giving more protection to my alternator and my house batteries than that relay would all by itself.
Hi Grant, I can't remember if I mentioned it in the video but that setting could easily be turned off. You could also easily switch off the whole unit at night for peace of mind. I do have your concern as well, and I did some testing with myself bouncing up and down in the bed of the truck, and the kids moving around. We're a family of four so it's lots of movement. I recently relocated the unit to the bed of the truck where we're at as well. So far no power draw at all and I was monitoring it constantly with my phone app to my power station.
Very nice truck camper
Thanks! We love it. What are you running?
Can it charge more than 500 from solar?
Yeah, but the entire unit is limited to 1000 W

What size supply wire leads did you use for the Etaker? Trying to do the math to see if I can get away with 6AWG or if I need to go bigger.
it is 10awg. good luck! loving this unit so far. Here's some wire that I used: amzn.to/3CZenRl
Just got home from camping there. Lot 120. Was solid, but my instant oatmeal wasn’t this good
but hey sometimes instant oatmeal is the way to go for quick meals and quick cleanup! It's a nice view of the mountain right there!
those taters are the way to go
heck yeah it's our go-to for every trip. taters, eggs, bacon/sausage.
Nice set up!!!

haha that'll work too!

Omg that looks so good and yay lily is in there
Yes!
Hey there... I'm looking for details on this product. What AWG is the wiring?
10awg. This is some extra wiring I used: amzn.to/3CZenRl
@dirtnsmores Thanks. I was thinking it needs to be 6 AWG from the battery to the unit. Guess I'll make my own for that!
Simple, clean and practical. I dig it. 🤘
Thanks! Are you looking into truck campers? I highly recommend this company.
@ what company is the topper? I am very interested in the overland concept. Would like to have something similar to yours. I like that you can take everything out fairly easily if you ever needed to also.

I know this video is old and I don’t know if you would answer but I have the same set up with my short bed Tacoma and seem to have some issues because of the clamps. Is there a certain way you’re supposed to put the bam beds In?
I had to put them in at an angle. It was a pain in the butt, but I eventually got it. Good luck!
Thank you 🙏😘 much love
Thank you!

Hell yeah! Glad you caught that. We're huge fans. Thanks for watching!
👍 very cosy
Very cozy indeed. We changed the layout a bit as you can see in an updated video. Do you have a truck camper setup?
@ no sadly I don’t but I will get one when I’m older hopefully. Till then it’s save save save up money
I have an OVRLND camper myself. I insulated the walls with 1" rigid foam board and the ceiling with 3M 1" blanket insulation and ran it between the roof and the round bars securing at the ends with 3M spray glue. I didn't know about the blanket insulation until 2 years later, otherwise it would have all been that. It is a great camper and I lived in it for 3 months in Arizona and Utah last summer.
Great info! For the summer months, did you run some type of air conditioning to stay cool?
Is this the insulation you're talking about? amzn.to/40WW0X9
I'm in London UK so no sun, I have an Ecoflow alternator charger, 800w straight to my power station, no need for solar 🤘
That's a perfect setup for you!
@@dirtnsmoresLove hearing stories of humans sharing their use cases. I travel up and down California on the coast and two 100 watt solar panels do the job 90% of the time. Thank you for explaining your DC/solar option.
@@tumbleweed1976 glad to help! It's been great for me so far. We just got back from a 900 mile trip and used the small 200 watt electric heater one night, ran my fridge, made coffee with electric kettle, and the etaker always kept me topped off. If i was parked a few days I would probably be wishing I had a second 100w solar panel :). Safe travels!
@@dirtnsmoresis this better than the redodo one?
@@donttrickimtricky.8567 not sure if it's "better". I just think it has some unique features like solar passthrough that other brands are lacking.
I recommend getting rid of the tailgate, don’t need the weight and a cargo net or rope works great with loads.
Thanks for the recommendation. Good idea. But I need to keep my tailgate. It's part of my camper setup.
7:44 Looks like a good unit. The active cooling feature (fan) is critical for efficiency. Does the ubit generate noise pollution? I've got a Renogy DC-DC charger with two active cooling fans, it does generate a bit of noise pollution, so i and installed in the housing area of my camper. Good work for rhe videa--subbed/liked.
No, I don't hear anything. The Renogy is awesome too. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video. Is your setup for a truck camper?

Good video, thx! Probably the best demo of unit I've seen. I like the F1000 ,but bought the Pecron 500W car charger before I heard of F1000.
Nice choice, the Pecron is a good one too! Thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated.
I have an OVRLND camper myself and traveled the USA for three years staying in National Forests. Enough about that, I insulated the walls with 1" insulation board covered in a canvas material and glued in between the studs, but I recently insulated the ceiling with a 1" insulated blanket material that has a black material facing toward the interior made by 3M. So much easier to work with and I would have used that for the walls if I knew about it. Something to consider.
Pretty much how I ended up insulating mine. Foam board insulation wrapped in material fabric that we chose at Jo-Ann's. Covered the studs with the soft side of velcro. It looks really good in there. I have a few videos with it
Awesome, thanks for sharing your setup.
No problem glad to share. Do you have one of these campers or looking to get something similar?
Thanks for quick clear review.
No problem. It's still holding up great a year later. Zero issues

Thanks for the video as there is no other videos about this product. I was wondering if it has a box with USB out ports so you can charge devices directly?
No it does not unfortunately. I would recommend buying a cheap little portable power bank and keeping that charged up for when your phone needs extra power.
Thanks for the idea! You’ve given me several as I build out my own camper. Cheers
Thanks, I’m glad to help! Let us know if you have any questions
Nice. Micro plastic
Using a few times a month, not too concerned since the inside is silicone and stainless steel. Thanks for the comment!
Wish it wasn't plastic.
Silicone and stainless steel on the inside. Yeah haven't found a collapsible space saving glass kettle yet that I'd use once or twice a month. But still looking!
Very Nice. Are yours the cool white or warm white?
We went with warm white. My eyes don't do well with cool white.
? Dad, dad, dad. I remember those days! Where is this beautiful spot?
Good times. I'm trying to soak it all in before they grow out of this phase. This is at Moro Campground in Laguna Beach, CA
