OVRLND Camper - cheap solar motion lights on the back of my truck camper
Переглядів 17728 днів тому
Product Link: amzn.to/4ilVpV6 We mounted up some cheap solar lights on the back of our OVRLND Campers truck camper. This is the first time we tested them out at camp and they worked out great. You can also set them to turn completely off, and if you walk up, they turn on to full brightness. That's actually the setting we used after 10pm. Great for those 3am pee sessions!

    I just picked up the Anker C1000. I'm currently testing it by having it power my Alpicool dual zone 12v fridge. So far it's powered the fridge for 45 hours, and the Anker still has 46% battery life..I'm thinking it will run it for at least 3.5 days. Maybe in super hot climate 3 days.. I have the setup a few feet away from my woodstove to simulate summer temperatures.

    So, if I'm in my van and moving around, that could likely trigger that vibration sensor and cause it to start taking charge from my starter battery, even if my engine isn't running? It sounds like a good way to discharge my starter battery. I don't care if it stops discharging my starter battery at 12.4 volts. I don't want it to discharge my starter battery AT ALL if the engine is not actually running. Maybe I could install one of those old-school relays between this and the battery, so it is disconnected when the vehicle isn't running, but it is giving more protection to my alternator and my house batteries than that relay would all by itself.

    • @dirtnsmores
      @dirtnsmores 23 дні тому

      Hi Grant, I can't remember if I mentioned it in the video but that setting could easily be turned off. You could also easily switch off the whole unit at night for peace of mind. I do have your concern as well, and I did some testing with myself bouncing up and down in the bed of the truck, and the kids moving around. We're a family of four so it's lots of movement. I recently relocated the unit to the bed of the truck where we're at as well. So far no power draw at all and I was monitoring it constantly with my phone app to my power station.

    I have an OVRLND camper myself and traveled the USA for three years staying in National Forests. Enough about that, I insulated the walls with 1" insulation board covered in a canvas material and glued in between the studs, but I recently insulated the ceiling with a 1" insulated blanket material that has a black material facing toward the interior made by 3M. So much easier to work with and I would have used that for the walls if I knew about it. Something to consider.
