Hey Roger, can you please tell me how does it work with the phantom power thing? This led shows the battery status or what? Can we switch the phantom power on/off? Thanks for your answer!
Sure. There is a little light that goes from orange to green when the pedal receives phantom power. If it doesn't, then it just uses battery. Works well. The LED scale that is operated by pushing the button shows how much battery life is left. Simple but effective. Great pedal! I would not be without it, either straight into tur PA or into an amp.

I like all 3, Shure Black CR and astatic are a bit similar, although astatic seems to me to have a slightly greater range of dynamics, to be more versatile, then it depends a lot on the player, I have been using astatic 151 for many years, I have a lot of practice with that and I prefer it, it also affects the taste when listening or trying something new, thanks for this test

Thank you. Yes, I agree with Doug, very similar. Perhaps the HB52 rolls off a few of the highs and sounds a bit smoother. I am awaiting the arrival of a JT30 and a Calrad to compare against my SM57.

Hi Roger. Great demo! Nice consistent excerpts to hear just enough of how the mics all behave uniquely. All of them sound great with some variance in timbre. What amp were you plugged into?
As shown, I was using a reissue Bassman with the Kinder AFB upfront. I considered using a smaller amp but thought the Bassman might be the most neutral. BR

HB 52 sounds pretty good but it is a little bit too expensive now... I also like the XLR because nowdays Switchkraft connectors are just pain in the head when you have to replace one :) From Thomann man gets one for 208 Euros! Sorry to say it is too much for a stock serial mic. Im gonna wait till some guys will sell them and buy a used one!
It's a lot cheaper than the vintage mics Roger is comparing it with. Thomann is selling it for £168 in the UK and you can get it for about the same $ price in the USA.
@@stevebakerbluesharp Thank you Steve! It is not fair :) So UK and USA rules and EU sucks... From 200 Euro man can buy a vintage mic also... Anyway, we do not have luck with harpgears here in the EU. They getting more expensive and hard to export. We should better play more acoustic :)
@@stevebakerbluesharp I think you and the gang have done the harmonica scene a great service. This is an excellent mic! I have bought two! Of course vintage mics can be great, some would maintain fantastic. The new HB52 is a workhorse that does the job very very well. I hope my video show the differences, at least with me and my mics and setup. Subtle. All good mics! Highly recommended for the money, quality and in general for providing the scene with a great new addition to the mic world. R
Hi Stevie Bernath , you can buy the HB52 under €200 if you look around on the internet (Musicstore.com) . The HB52 is a great microphone, just tested mine today and I'm really convinced. BTW for a goodworking Shure Black CR Element you have to pay €200 - €450 and that's just the element. Big disadvantage with the old elements is that when you drop them they easily break. Over the years I broke a couple of mine. That problem you wil not have with the HB52 if you drop it it still works perfectly.
Hallo Roger ... Die Unterschiede die ich hören kann sind nicht wirklich groß ... das Shure kingt meines Erachtens etwas kompakter und dichter ... Das Astatic wirkt ein bisschen luftiger und das Hohner hat ein Tick mehr Spitzen ... Ich für meinen Teil verwende ein Shure mit white CR von 1956 von JJ Jürgen ... dann hab ich noch ein Shure Black CR von 1952, als drittes verwende ich noch das Jason Richie Mic mit dynamischer Kapsel welches auch sehr gut klingt und etwas fetter ist als die Shure`... Das Mic von Martin hab ich auch, das ist mir aber etwas zu klein, klingt aber auch gut ... Hab mir auch schon überlegt das Hohner zu kaufen, bin mir aber noch nicht so sicher ... Ich muss es mal antesten ... als Amp benutze ich den Seydel MK ll mit nem Weber Retro Specker, der hat mehr Druck in den Tiefen und ne ordentlich dreckige Kante ... Als Alternative benutze ich noch das T-Rex Akustik Gitarren Preamp mit vorgeschaltetem Boss BluesDriver als Zerre ... Ne Super Kombination, weil alle Effekte die ich brauche im T-Rex beinnhaltet sind : Rev. Dly, Chr, und Comp... dazu verfügt es noch über eine Boost Taste für Solospiel ... Klingt alles richtig ordentlich ... Letztendlich ist das alles wie immer persönliche Geschmackssache ... und hängt von den einzelnen Komponenten ab ... Danke für deinen Vergleichstest ... das hilft sicher dem einen oder anderen bei der Entscheidungsfindung ... Bin dieses Jahr wieder in Klingenthal ... vielleicht sieht man sich ja ..
