    Wow, what a collection, congratulations for you on fulfilling that dream! I'm usually not jealous of anything, but I must admit I'm pretty jealous of that collection. The dwarfs of that era are great, some of the best of the era which overall had mostly superb miniatures. Most of it in metal as well, I really like those metal models especially for older stuff... Metal models feel more special and prestigious, I guess that's since when I started with WHFB, back then pretty much only the core troops (not even all of them) were in plastic and all the more special stuff was metal. My childhood Warhammer dream is a bit more modest, I would like to have a full unit of metal models of a special choice for an army of that era, I think I'd like most to have a block of 30 metal 6th ed Tomb Guard for my Tomb Kings army. One day I'll get them... :)

    Did you finish painting these dwarfs? Or have the for sale ?

    Great video. I started collecting High Elves in 1997. Back then in Poland miniatures were way too expensive to create an army, especially for a teenage boy like me. But now I bought all of them on ebay, and started painting them. I love your Dwarfs because they remind me exactly the time I fall in love with Warhammer, and my best friend was collecting Dwarfs! The first miniature I have ever seen was a Dwarf Hammerer 🥰

      Working on some setup to record a bit easier and will hopefully create some more videos. Also, on top of my dwarven dream I managed to... ride the nostalgia wave too intensely and ended up collecting almost entire Orc&Goblins (of course things are missing but not many) and good chunk of Undead and High Elves. Of course all 4th edition models. Will be filming these too.

    Hello! I'm working on a project on the tesseract engine, a fork of the cube 2 sauerbraten engine, it supports the iqm format, and in the website it advertises non-uniform joint scaling, but when I try to export it from blender using the devkit and import it in tesseract it doesn't seem to work. Any clues? did you write this morphing functionality yourself? Great vid, Thanks.

    • @noizex
      @noizex 2 роки тому

      Hi! Yeah I added this functionality to IQM myself. Also, this is vertex morphing, not joint/bones based. It's using Blender's "shape keys" feature - I can't recall now how exactly I implemented it and I haven't played with this for a while, but I think I was basically exporting 2 sets of vertices and then I blended between them based on the value of 0..1 slider where 0 was 100% of the first set of vertex positions and 1 was 100% second set of vertices. So usual vertex morphing really, most difficult part was to understand how Blender stores its shape keys internally to reuse as much of it as possible, so I could test this in Blender and see how it works before exporting it to the ending. I'm sure it would be quite broken now as Blender went through major version upgrades, so I will need to look at this code sometime in the future and upgrade it.

      Going slower than I anticipated, but I will have some update sometime soon. I also derailed it slightly by collecting Orcs & Goblins and Undead at the same time - will have some videos on how this is going too.

    What an awesome collection!! Your story is a lot like mine. I am finally painting a 90's Bretonnian army that I have dreamed of having for over 20 years. I can totally relate to your excitement. I would not get in too big of a hurry to sell the extra miniatures. You might find that you want to grow the army more after a while and will be glad you hung on to them. This Oldhammer stuff is getting harder to find. You might consider trading some for miniatures you need but, unless you need the money, I would wait to sell them. Looking forward to more updates and seeing the Goblin army! Thanks for sharing!!!

    • @noizex
      @noizex 4 роки тому

      Thanks! Feel free to throw me some photos of your army too, it's always fun to share this stuff with other "herohammers" :) And thanks for the advice - I think you're right, I might regret later as some of these things are close to impossible to get, at least in such pristine state. Will probably do as you say, keep them or exchange for some other rarities that I miss :) Will show the Goblins soon, they're way smaller right now as it's very hard to get base metal miniatures (orcs, goblins, night goblins) from that period. Somehow savage orcs / forest goblins were more accessible, so I may be building army from this perspective, and that's actually aligned with what they suggest in armybook - they start with savage orcs ;)

    nice ! but I can't see any description ... what is the tool to generate this world ?

    • @noizex
      @noizex 5 років тому

      It was custom "engine" based on OpenGL, if you ask precisely about how the terrain was generated it was some really basic perlin noise, main reason why the terrian is pretty bland

  • @rolfius
    @rolfius 5 років тому

    Are you coding this yourself? Very cool work.

    • @noizex
      @noizex 5 років тому

      Yeah, I did but it's been long time ago (almost 8 years ago) - I rewrote it all into some kind of game engine which is still underway, learned a ton during that time. What I have now is orders of magnitude more complex and feature complete though it doesn't yet look that good ;) But it's a good foundation to re-create these things of old in a much better way - at that time I had to learn what shaders actually are...

    • @noizex
      @noizex 5 років тому

      You can actually see that struggle as I have playlist with some fun moments during development of this engine: ua-cam.com/play/PL7kl8waGhVs778kPRUr0Yo8LwzwaneK3y.html

    i cant get this to show the gizmo. Could you put up the code for this? I'm doing exactly whats in the example and nothing shows up.

    • @noizex
      @noizex 6 років тому

      Hmm, it's been a while since I did this and I'm focusing on other code now so I had to dig that in some old commits and the only thing I did was this line: ImGuizmo::Manipulate(glm::value_ptr(view), glm::value_ptr(proj), static_cast<ImGuizmo::OPERATION>(m_Mode), m_Mode == 2 ? ImGuizmo::WORLD : ImGuizmo::LOCAL, glm::value_ptr(model), glm::value_ptr(sourceMat)); All provided matrices are glm:mat4's converted to pointers with glm::value_ptr, depends on what mat lib you use this may be different. Then, m_Mode is just a mode in which ImGuizmo applies transforms: world or local. If you do this and it still doesn't work, you'll probably have to debug into ImGuizmo and confirm that draw lists are populated, and what happens starting from ImGuizmo::Manipulate call.

    Hi, I'm interested about your technic to edit both shape keys for clothes ans characters, they work good and very simultaneously. Can you give me a tips ?. Thankx for this show.

    • @noizex
      @noizex 8 років тому

      It's nothing fancy really, the same shape key controls both, character mesh and cloth mesh. So for example, for extreme fat character I slide the "body fat" slider to max, and shape the armour so it covers the whole body. Then when I transition between min and max of this shape key it changes all meshes tied to that shape key.

    • @hotindavid1623
      @hotindavid1623 7 років тому

      Well... no, I don't understand. I tried many things but i don't understand how to apply ONE shape key to TWO (or more) differents objects at the same time. It have been two hours now that I'm trying and I still don't understand. But thank you anyway

    • @noizex
      @noizex 7 років тому

      It's been a while and I probably used wrong terms here, sorry. If you mean Blender you can use Driver to control value of several Shape Keys. So there really are few shape keys, but they're "synchronized" by using the same driver value. I will check it (as I said it's been a while and I haven't touched it since then) and try to give a more helpful answer :) maybe even some video.

    • @noizex
      @noizex 8 років тому

      It's basically implementation of IQM loading code: sauerbraten.org/iqm/. As it uses my own engine, it has dependencies that won't be useful for you, so I suggest checking the source of IQM's examples, as it's self-contained. Sorry for late reply but I somehow didn't notice it at the time you posted it.
