Making a Belt Grinder from Scratch (50x2000mm)
Переглядів 8 тис.Рік тому
In this video I design and make a working belt grinder from scratch. It is a common design which is also very flexible. The build quality could be better but I think the final result is great. This project took a long time and resulted in a ton of footage. I didn't want this video to be that long so I condensed it a lot. This means that some things go very fast or are not even included in the f...

Restoring a Mini Oven to use for tempering

Good work. We shared this video on our homemade tool forum last week 😎
Cool! Appreciate it!
Lovely bit of nerd stuff.
Inspiring build and fabulous video production, well done
Thank you! Appreciate it!
Nee joh. Die geinige gozer is terug
Gaaf weer, Tijn 😃👍
Gaaf weer, Tijn 😃👍
very nice. I'm seeing these machines cost hundreds of USD which is crazy
Nice
😎 cool ❤👍
Jesus loves you all
You forgot a fuse or circut braker
stl???
Looks good! How did it function?
Thanks! Not that good, but that was to be expected... Because I used construction wood, the hammer broke after a few days during striking. If you plan on making one, definitely use a proper wood like ash or hickory. Flying hammerheads can be quite dangerous... After rehandling it with a proper handle, it worked fine though.
What is your seam allowance? 1/2"? A standard 5/8" for American sizes?
Hey! To be honest I don't remember. I used a template from 'The Essentials Club'. I suggest you check out their blog which I linked in the description. Good luck!
Can you make shoes with an Ikea bag?
I was thinking of making one myself, could you let me know how many bags do you need to make one, i currently have 1 bag, will that be enough?
Hey! Sounds good! You should have enough with one bag but be careful with removing the handle strips. The bag itself has more than enough material but you need a good length of handle strip. Also I recommend make a one layer hat like I eventually did. Good luck!
@@TF-Projects Thanks!
Thanks so much for the DIY video !!!! I exactly want to have one but they only sell it in US
Adds that little twist to teenagers demanding a brand name
Which CAD program are you using?
I am using SolidWorks
Bull shit🤦♂️
You know what you can do with your childish theatrics.
great tutorial !! what needle did you use on your machine ?
Thanks! To be honest I don't know. Just a regular needle that came with the machine.
Usually, It's a 90/14 needle, and for the presser foot, if you have a combi foot, (Zigzag, Runner e.g) I use that, otherwise you can switch between a zipper foot (does zigzag stitch) and the regular pin hole presser foot (one that does runner at a 0 offset). Hope that helped!
Its so funny they actually made this a thing💀
Could you release you design
Not yet, unfortunately. I'll have to make detailed drawings of all parts first. I might do that if I can find the time.
Brilliant video! And it flew! The pioneers in the early 1900s would have been well pleased to have achieved that!
Thanks! Luckily I could copy all the pioneers from back then 😅
Dit is ziekk!!!
You did very well, I think you should take a welding course. It will make your work safer, stronger and nicer. subscribed.
Thank you! I agree. I'll have to spend some time learning and practicing to fully understand what I'm doing.
Hey! Cool idea! ✨ Been looking for ideas what to do to recycle plastics. I have a question tho. Does it get hot when you wear the hat for too long under the sun? It's gonna be summer soon so I'll probably gonna wear the hat during that season.
Hi! To be honestly I don't often wear the hat... It is made from plastic so it will probably be quite sweaty😅. Nonetheless, it's a fun project!
Good work, it came out nice. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎
Thanks! I appreciate that!
Hi great build, I was wondering if there was any chance of getting all the dimensions and a copy of the templet you used.
Thanks! Unfortunately, there is no set of drawings yet. I have it as a 3D model. But to make it a proper set of drawings, I'd have to put some more time in it. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time. If there is any part in particular you would like to know the dimensions of, let me know. I could make one or two quick drawings and send them to you.

I like that you use simple and inexpensive tools to start out. Well done!
Thanks a lot!
👍🏼 If you had filed the key head, you could have made it a lot more thinner... 😳
GREAT WORK helped me alot, thanks
Should have used little pieces of a plastic bottle to replace the cardboard pieces
Good idea!
6:14 the problem is not the friction but the weight of the key I made a otf blade out of wood but it was too light to work. So I put some coins inside the blade (the blade was thin sheets of wood) and it worked without any issue
I understand what you mean, in my case I think the rubber band is just too weak and the key is too heavy for the rubber band. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hey Bro can you drop the print ???
Unfortunately not. The files are not print-ready and as you can see in the video the mechanism doesn't work properly. Therefore I won't publish the files. However there should be more downloadable files available on sites like Thingiverse. I hope you can find something there!
@@TF-Projects ok thank you
very cool concept, inspired me to try to make something similar for my honda key fob. gotta find a way to design around the key design, button pad, and immobilizer chip first
Very innovative approach- Beautiful approach & classic example of functional Art. Bravo.
Thank you very much!
Great work
Oepsie ik was beetje op vakantie. Maar grootste fan is back!
The one and only
great video!!! have you posted the STL anywhere? thanks
Very glad to hear that! I haven't published the STL files. If you'd like I can send them to you personally via WeTransfer (without the mistakes of course ;P).
Hi Tijn, volgens mij is-ie perfect. Je moet 'm alleen horizontaal hangen. Dan hangen de messen netjes uitgebalanceerd ! :)
Dankjewel! Horizontaal is beter inderdaad. Maar verticaal is mooier ;P
Topper!
This is literally what I need
The sanding with the drill "went a little too slow for your liking" cause you had the drill spinning the same way the sander was going. Both were going down... just FYI so you don't do the samething in the future
Haha! Yes it really looks like it spins the wrong way. I was pretty sure I did turn it in the right way but on camera it really doesn't look like that... Oh well. Thanks for the feedback!
Succes!
Just do two loops with one rubber band than you have the tention.
Good suggestion! You can't really see it well but I already did one extra loop. Another extra loop would be too tight unfortunately.
Wauw Tijn, wat een toewijding! Heel knap gemaakt ✌💍👍
Great work!!
