This is such a beautiful conversation…it is sooo refreshing to see cisgendered heterosexual men have the capacity to be open minded, respectful, and intellectual. I know we all have the ability to, but a lot of time we as queer people don’t have men in our communities with this level of empathy. And Akili’s ability to navigate and educate throughout this conversation was the cherry on top (y’all chose the perfect guest for this episode)! Bravo 👏🏾

37:51 I've been watching Str8 shxt for 40 years. As a 40yr Lesbian I can relate. Wasnt no Damn Gay/Lez Black representation in the 80s/90s unless it was a stereotype or considered something disgusting. Now LGBTQ is everywhere and nobody gives a Damn but for Us 80s,70s,60s babies; We went through PURE HELL! With all my sxicide attempts back in the day I'm surprised I'm alive. Its a Damn Journey!

I heard them mention several times "I don't care, but I hate saying that". I've started to change my language from "I don't care" to "I don't mind". Often times I'll make it clear by saying "I don't care, well actually I do care. I care deeply for you, but I don't mind ____". This helps show support and allowing the person grace and freedom to explore and eventually embody their truest self
