Been weaving for quite a while and have done 1 double weave throw on my Baby Wolf, but want to do a full size blanket on my Schacht. 8 harness floor loom. Do you know where I can get a pattern??
@@DorisLepine Hi! I know yarn places like Cotton Clouds & Gist will have patterns, but I don't know if they have exactly what you're looking for. It's worth a try!

Ok Chris, that was 2, what if you had say 4 or 5 stinking threads, and maybe they were say some dark some light. How would you decide who goes up who goes down? Why did you split them? 😂😊 3:26
@@denisehigby2554 Hi Denise! Are you asking about holding 2 yarns at a time? If you want to work with more yarns in each pass, I'd suggest a warping paddle. And as for which yarns go up & down over the cross, that all has to do with the order you want the yarns to be in for your project. Here's a video that talks more about the cross that could be useful - ua-cam.com/video/0qZNB2eK6qI/v-deo.html

Thank you for inspiring me and making me think. Also for keeping your videos short, to the point so l have more weaving time. ❤ 😂😂😂
@@feltlikeitbydebs Yay! More weaving time is always a good thing!
When my mother had a heart attack in 2014, and I was her caregiver, I pretty much had to stop all creative endeavors for a while because I was either taking care of her, or my family or just too tired. It was overwhelming at times and then I decided that I would spend 5 minutes max each day looking for something funny, beautiful, artistic or inspiring, take a picture of it with the phone on my camera and share it on social media. That "Pic of the Day" became my lifeline; it also made me a better artist. I learned to look, to frame things in various ways, and to appreciate color and texture. It has also created an inspiration photo file that I can look back on when I am feeling out of ideas.
@@dinas4371 Wow!! That's amazing! Thank you so much for sharing! That's really special!
Saw a woman come to a dead stop in the lobby at the allergy clinic Monday, causing people to stare and detour around her, to stop and admire the newly installed winter slush rug in a fabulous grey and maroon herringbone tweed/twill pattern. What a nutter. (Said person may, or may not, have been me.) Carry on.
@@WthrLdy Ha! I resemble that comment.
@@ActonCreative Ha!
Oooo, I'm thinking a small weaving notebook in my purse for noting inspirations! As you were talking I thought of my car, SweetPea, she is a beautiful teal color that many people comment on... Another thing is in the OWAL I'm working on, I've been delighted by the pattern that has shown up in the white on white section. Hmmmm, ideas already!
@@shirleybewley6646 Brilliant, Shirley!
Thank You! This is such sage advice. Curiosity keeps one young at heart. Life long learning creates new connections in our brain. The satisfaction one receives after overcoming the fear of trying something new and then accomplishing it is well worth the initial struggle. I want to weave to my last day on this planet. Challenging the pink glob in my head daily is my "ACTION CREATIVE" goal. (Noticed the pun on Acton Creative :-))
@@TinyWeaverLori Ha!! I love it!!
🤔 not that some bees don't make round combs, but what do you do if you're looking for more of a hexagonal pattern with crisp angles? Is that not possible on a loom?
@@TheQwuilleran Oooh, interesting question! I would guess it's possible, but you may need to employ more shafts in order to open up the shape and create a hexagon. Fun question!

Good Morning to everyone from Kathy in Idaho. I was going to ask you about tensel but you explained it before I asked, thank you. I agree with you on spiders, if they are in my house they are fair game and get to go for a swirly ride down the drain or in the toilet, depending on where they happen to be found. If they stay outside, they are fine, in my house, no way jose, they lose. Love the color of your towels. haven't started my weaving yet, still working on Christmas ornaments, I think I am just about done...maybe...hopefully. I am anxious to get started on the OWAL. Hope that everyone has a wonderful day and have lots of fun with your projects.

@@angelastarita1673 I'm so glad it was helpful to you, Angela!
This was so useful! It never occurred to me that I didn't have to suffer when warping the loom.
Great demo. And you know how much I love being under the loom 🙃
@@aomadison3891 Ha! It's true - crawling under the loom isn't always fun!
I've been making a bunch of tea towels for Christmas gifts. But I get board seeing the same pattern. I also don't feel like the gifts are a personal if they all look the same. So, I have a rose-path threading, and I change the tie-ups every towel. Both problems solved.☺
because I have a only recently got my countermarch loom I am still getting to grips with how my tie ups work lol when I first got the loom, I really could not get my loom to actually work lol but eventually after much reading taking all the chords off to start from scratch as well as talking to the previous owner, I finally sussed it. Thank goodness cause I was almost crying thinking I had made the biggest mistake buying it. But now I have got it working and woven my first tea towels I am loving it ;) Though to change the tie ups I find it more fiddly than with a jack loom. oh well, we can't have everything I guess lol
@@TartantazCreates I'm so glad you're happy with the loom! Yay!
i have a table loom i like changing the pattern of lifting the heddles, us direct can do some of these thing too
I noticed that when you were doing the twill, you didn't need a floating warp thread. That way I would be able to weave twill. Is the trick to weave from left to right when starting. Would that work on the rose path also?
@@AnnZick-el9ks Hi! I actually did include floating selvedges! But there is a way to include a few warp yarns threaded for plain weave on each side of your fabric. This will help you avoid using floating selvedge.
Hubby just tied mine up this morning, properly, so I can do s lot of patterns. He says it's a pain😂
@@dianasmith8166 He's not wrong! Ha!
I like to leave my tie ups alone and change the footing. Mostly because I loathe crawling under there. LOL.
@@WthrLdy Understandable!
I am now limited to only one loom (Baby Wolf) with 6 treadles. I put my other one in storage to get my new loom, so I have 4 direct tie-up. I'm not sure which I like but complicated patterns aren't available on my direct tie-ups.
@@conniepeterson122 I understand! But direct tie-uo looms can still do so much!
@ActonCreative yes. And things that require a weird-ish pattern is easier.
@ActonCreative But ...... I have to remind myself which loom I'm sitting at. Am I going to use one treadle for 1-2 or two treadles for 1-2? Takes a few minutes to get into the swing.
@@conniepeterson122 I can see that! Even with only 2 looms, it takes me a minute to recall what I was doing!
I have just ordered a pair of lease sticks, I hope they do not take too long to arrive so I can get dressing my loom ;) That counts as gathering my supplies right? lol I know I could probably have made do with something I possibly already have but I decided to just buy the lease sticks and be done with it lol T x
@@TartantazCreates That absolutely counts! You're doing great!
In a pinch, yard sticks work
@@WthrLdy good to know. Unfortunately I don't have them available to me ether :(
@@TartantazCreates dowel rods, anything long and rigid
Does it matter which direction the yarn goes thru the heddles?
@@PenelopeGreen-sk3cf Hi! The direction will be dictated by how you dress your loom - front-to-back or back-to-front. But the bottom line is that each warp yarn needs to flow straight through the heddle so you can easily forward your fabric as you weave. Does that answer your question?
I think so. I dressed back to front. My heddles are not all installed the same - some turn more easily to the left and some to the right. Is it okay to thread them both ways just so the heddles open easily toward the front?
@@PenelopeGreen-sk3cf You're welcome to tweak them however will help you the most! As long as the warp yarn travels easily through the eye, you're golden!
@@ActonCreative Thank you! I started out thinking that they needed to be threaded the same but then I realized they weren't all installed alike. Some have the color on top, some on bottom. So as long as it doesn't matter, I will just thread them whichever way they will let the yarn slide through most easily.
Good morning! We will be heading home from camping today so I will start warping tomorrow! Can't wait.
@@conniepeterson122 Woohoo! We're so excited!!
Hi newby here. Can this be done on a Rigid heddle .. guess using two heddles? 😮
@@feltlikeitbydebs Hi! Great question! I'm not a rigid heddle weaver myself, so I can't speak to that. However, after watching Michele Marshall, with Mingo's Corner, create all kinds of complicated weave structures on her rigid heddle loom, I'm sure it's possible!
You asked if anyone ever played with how hard to beat. I have been planning to play with this because I was looking at my first woven project. It had blue warp and pink weft. My beating was uneven but it made those colors look almost iridescent as different amounts of each color show through and I want to try to do that intentionally. With better habits that I have now, I might have to roll a dice to change how hard I'm beating or some other means of forcing myself to be irregular. I'll take pictures and record video of some of my process when I do it to post to my socials and the Acton Creative Facebook Group but it will have to be after October because I want to do the diamond weave along and also a skull table runner for Halloween, which is already probably too ambitious for one month!
@@suburbanartistry What a cool experiment! I love that idea! Can't wait to see how it goes for you!
