Shademobile, Small Herd Rotational Grazing, And Visiting The Old Cows
We made a Shademobile based on the plans in Joel Salatin's "Polyface Designs" book. We scaled it down quite a bit smaller than the design in the book since we have a much smaller herd than the original design is made for.
I show how we implement rotational grazing with a small herd of 7 cows and introduce our newest steer, Bugsy.

    My mama wanted the song from Handel's _Messiah,_ "I Know that My Redeemer Liveth", from _Job,_ to be played at her funeral. But so many things happened. Her body was abused. I had to get a picture of her enlarged (by Xerox copier) and in a frame to have a recognizable image of her there. I could not find any help to get the song transferred from my LP to a cassette, so I could play it through my boom box. Even if I had, they were paying the same funeral home that smirked over the condition of her body. to play their loud, sentimental playlist, so I dont know whether it could have even been heard if I'd had something to play. I couldnt face that smirk, again, to ask them to cooperate with me playing the song, so I play it online every so often. The version by Kiri te Kanawa is a good one, but I also like Gladys Knight's version, which seems less influenced by classical music's proud _diva_ culture. A really beautiful, wonderful, _humbler,_ toned-down, modern version is on _Young Messiah,_ by The New London Chorale. You'd think I could have pulled that off, just playing some music, but I couldn't. But I'm very grateful that this is what she wanted to say, as her last message to the world, including to the people at her funeral.

      @@hounddoghomesteading Thank you for enduring me telling it, though. You know, I went and fiound some recordings of that, and played them. In addition to the ones I mentioned, there was another classical version, I can't think of the name, but it was beautuful, and not too proud and "diva culture", so I think she may have been a real believer. I can get the name, but not at the same time as I write this on the same app. But I played the New London Chorale one over and over.. I want to get a Facebook post together for Easter, with that and some other wonderful hymns, whether anyone else listens or not, but I do want it to speak to other people. I actually felt kind of bad that I posted that in your video, but I also felt a lot better because I did share it. So the more I listened to it, the more I realized how great it was to remember that she wanted it as her last message to her people, and whoever else in the world would happen to know. She had a lot of confusion about salvation, but here she was openly putting all her hopes on Jesus, and I think it speaks very hopefiully of her salvation. I sometimes worry about her, but I usually tell myself that God loved her and wanted her saved more than I did. But I just felt so much hope for her last night. So I hope it wasn't too morbid for you, but at least the result was good, at least for me. Of course, I don't mean it's okay if it was not good for your page, and you can delete all this if you want to. I appreciate the concern, deeply. A lot of times, if we have serious trouble inour lives, the so-called "Christian lifestyle" doesn't match up with a Biblically Christian way of life, and we are expected not to bother others with our sorrows. So just sharing that was good forvl me, and I hope not too troubling or gross for you. But I can understand if you just don't think it belongs here, and you want to delete it, or want me to. Again, thank you, and I'm also kind of sorry.

      Thank you. Some things to keep in mind with regard the Sabbath: What are we to remember when remembering the Sabbath? Did God continue His work after He rested on the original Sabbath? Did He continue working again on the following day? The Sabbath is a shadow of things to come, the prophesied rest for believers. Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

    So when the wolves eat beside the lamb, do they also get a lambs dijestive tract and lams teeth? If so then they will no linger be wolves, no? It is well known that animal predation is what naturally balances herbavore poulations, allowing the vegetative world to flourish in this miracle of a balanced biosphere. As a human, even now in 2024, the agricultural revolution remains incomplete. There are populations alive today in not yet biologically degraded (often by agriculture) pockets of the planet, who havent even begun agriculture in the modern sense, tenders of the wild and prodominantly hunting and foraging for sustinance. The human form produced by an agricultural diet is often substantially different than that produced by wild foods. The "function" of settled domestic food production on behalf of humans, is primarily the production of large cities and armies. I tend to think of agriculture, at least in the modern sense AS the curse. That being said, I am a homesteader, predominantly as a means of not being entirely beholden to and dependant on industrial agriculture. Most of my protein is sourced via hunting, a far more enjoyable and physically rewardeing method of procurement where I live. I do raise eggs and a lot of staple crops domestically, and with human powered tools. My wheelhoe more or less destroyed my right elbow, nearing my 40s also feeling the physical pains of agriculture, and the food it produces, and the lifestyle it enables (suffering aliments of sedentary lifestyle on one extreme, or hyperwarfare and or overstimulation on the other). I'm always working away from my agricultural upbringings, toward wild food procurement. I am confused by and maybe misunderstanding the scripture about the plowman overtaking the reaper. Plowing is probably the single most distructive human activity. The way I see it plows take far more lives than wolves do and, as well as degrade the primary resource/soil and soil life. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the plowman/reaper thing. I am genuinely intrigued by this concept of meek inheriting the earth and ponder what it might mean, so cool to see someone addressing it from the perspective of a agrarian and or wildcrafter. I ask Christ to guide and lead and embody me, but struggle a lot, most of what I observe with my own to eyes doesn't seem congruent with the stuff in the good book.

    • @hounddoghomesteading
      @hounddoghomesteading 5 місяців тому

      @nathanpieper4634 Search vegetarian lion, crocodiles eating fruit, and vegan cat food on the internet. There are plenty of non-creationist articles detailing examples of predators surviving on full or partly vegetarian diets. Keep in mind that in the video I stated that the Bible isn't clear on whether the restoration of the earth will be instantaneous or whether it will be a process. Abruptly cutting meat from a predator's diet is not recommended in the 21st century when most of our fruits and vegetables have a fraction of the nutritional value they did in decades and centuries past. Wolves are obviously in the dog family and it's well-known that dogs can eat vegetables and other non-meat food just fine. Fruit bats and Panda bears have "predator teeth" but are vegetarian. Animals reproduce in order to keep the population going due to death. If there's no death, there's no need to reproduce hence no need for hunting. Hunting is needed to keep the population in check. The Bible isn't clear on whether animals will partake of the tree of life and live forever like humans but it's very clear that there won't be any predation. Perhaps insects will continue a life cycle and be fed on by birds, fish, and mammals? There are lots of things we can speculate about but then that can lead us down rabbit holes. Eliot Coleman is worth checking out to see how one can plow the land and farm organically without it being destructive. Current conventional agriculture definitely degrades the land but Coleman teaches how to build soil through tillage and organic practices. Humans have tilled the land from the very beginning.

    In the time of those wicked kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom. It will destroy all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it itself will endure forever Dan.2:44 Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth..

    You cannot undo God's curses. However, there will be a New Heaven and a New Earth. That will go on for eternity, That's when the blessings really kick in. Thank God, we still can grow something, in this current messed up world. Don't loose heart my friend.

      The "new" earth will be the restoration of this present earth. The passages I presented list the beginning of the reversal of the curses.

    Maybe watch the shepherds chapel.. He reads the Bible chapter by chapter verse by verse.. You can’t just open the Bible and start reading.. you must start at the beginning.. The Bible is a story.. about one man’s life. His story. History!! Pastor Arnold Murray is the best teacher.. check out the shepherds chapel.. it might help you understand the Bible better.. And you have to pray for the wisdom to understand.. I don’t think you’re getting what the Bible is trying to teach.

      I never heard of the guy and so I checked out his video on Genesis. The first 5 minutes showed me all that I needed to know in that he believed in the old earth gap theory, which contradicts Scripture by stating that death came before sin. It also brings confusion and contradiction to passages referring to the earth's restoration and so if one believes the teachings of Murray, then it will absolutely seem like my video is full of flaws. I also looked him up on the internet and Wikipedia (yes, I take Wikipedia with a grain of salt) stated that he taught the anti-Semetic doctrine of replacement theology through British-Israelism and a weird Satan-Cain-Kenite seed teaching. Is this true? It's hard to cram the entire message of the Bible into an ~ 30 minute video focused on farming.

    Thank you so much for sharing those verses. Especially Job 19:25-27. Really appreciate a biblical perspective. This helps me communicate with others

    Back when I used to work downtown, prior to the "event", I really enjoyed walking in Point State Park at lunchtime. I truly was a treasure hidden in plain sight. I think that I only went into the Blockhouse once, and I hadn't been to the museum at all. Great history.

      It's for sure a hidden treasure. It's been the opposite for me, actually, in that the blockhouse was always closed and so I visited the museum. They definitely put a lot of time and effort into the displays, especially the diorama.

    I watched homesteading videos for years before we could afford to buy land. Now we have some and are blessed to have my mom and stepdad live with us and take care of them. Great video brother, we are certainly blessed beyond belief
