Can we produce an EP in 5 days???
Caroline came in from New York, and we had 5 days to produce 3 songs. It was definitely a lot of work, but was so so fun.

Making an Indie Pop Song - Like Gracie Abrams, Lizzy McAlpine, and Maisie Peters

Watch me and Claire in the studio producing her first song! Claire's references were all indie pop artists like Gracie Abrams, Olivia Rodrigo, Maisie Peters, and people in that indie-pop world. We wanted to pull inspiration from those artists, but also establish a unique sound for Claire. This was such a fun session and we're so so happy with how the song came out! Come say hi to me! 🎶 30-Minute Song Challenge: Watch me produce a track from scratch! 🎶 In this video, I took on the challenge of making an entire song in 30 minutes! I thought it would be a fun way to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how I put together a song on the fly. Whether you're a fellow producer or an artist, you'll get to see how I find my initial inspiration, record guitars, add synths, and build o...
How to produce a pop song like David Kushner
Переглядів 9403 місяці тому
David Kushner's music is super raw, has haunting melodies, and does a great job blending introspective lyrics with lush soundscapes. In this video I break down how I produced a song with a lot of those same elements - "dead boy walking" by Jack Drinker. This song uses a lot of the same techniques - it's a vocally driven song supported by an atmospheric production.

    Your videos are super inspiring. When you're working with the artist, do you take into account how they're going to perform it live when you're adding layers or different parts? Or is it all about the final recording?

    Is this the way a lot of music is made these days? Innovative and sounds great, but I’m worried it’s getting away from old school instrument playing and song composition ways of the past. I’m a huge David fan but I worry if we’re losing some of that.

    • @alyssawilkensmusic
      @alyssawilkensmusic 2 місяці тому

      @@frankconti8042 there actually is still a ton of instrument playing and composition techniques that you would see in older songs (at least in stuff I produce). Obviously technology is much much better than it was ,say 50 years ago, and that gives us different tools to use to create with. This can allow people who don’t know how to play an instruments or don’t want to, to still be able to make music. I could go off on a whole tangent about that though haha. This is just breakdown of a song we already made, so I didn’t include any parts of the actually recording process, but a lot of songs made today use a hybrid approach, so they will use real instruments and computer software!
