Super clean, like new, LOW MILES, with heal-toe shifter!
It is awesome, only dislike how it shows that is still loading, makes it look slow
Glad you liked it! But I mean, 15 seconds to get to the main screen isn't that bad, right? Think of it this way, how long does it take your phone to start up after its been turned off? And there is no need to wait for the screen to boot for you to start the engine so that's a plus.
Android auto?
Unfortunately there is no Android Auto for Indian Motorcycle... yet.
Excellent tutorial! Thanks
Anytime! Thanks for watching!
Love those American made Indian motorcycles ❣️ They just keep getting better and better 👍
We can't wait to see what they come up with next! A Challenger without a fairing? An entry level FTR? An adventure bike? Who knows?!
How about a water cooled four cylinder tourer !
Haha! Bring back the Indian Four?! Not a bad idea... Time will tell.
So does the navigation just bounce off my phones cellular connection or do I need to pay for the app to actually use the built in nav on the bike?
Great question! There is a GPS puck pre-installed from the factory. You do not need to have your phone connected in any way to use navigation and you do not pay any subscription to use navigation. The only subscription service that Indian Motorcycles uses is for Ride Command+, which would enable extra features like traffic & weather overlay and connected services on the ride command app. It is $99 per year but not required to use navigation.
I own a 2023 Challenger Dark Horse and am sure that bike is awesome in every way. Not a fan of the light silver pin striping or the entire wheel being red. The striping make it look dated and a little cheap. Just my opinion.
Hey, not everything is for everyone! The red wheels have been a hit and miss for customers and the pinstriping looks much better in person. I am actually a big fan of this one, my favorite Elite so far. Maybe next year's will be more your speed!
Does the Ride Command app need to be open on my phone to log into the account on the display? I’m assuming the display uses Bluetooth to the phone for connectivity to the Internet for authentication? Or does it authenticate to the cached credentials on the app on the phone?
Not to my knowledge, no. You should be able to enter your email and password on the RC display regardless of whether the app is open. You are correct, it uses bluetooth but not for authentication. Thats what the password is for.
Why doesn't anyone mention horsepower?
Mostly because Indian Motorcycle doesn't list the horsepower under their specs. For reference, the Thunderstroke 116 in a Springfield, Chieftain, or Roadmaster has 92 HP. Since the Chief line was tuned less for the reduced weight, it is 87 HP on the Chief with the 116. Remember, the Thunderstroke is a pushrod engine built for low end torque. A DOHC engine, like the the 2025 Scout, will be built for more HP as it comes with up to 111 HP, even though it is only 1250cc.
Very informative! Thank you! I have a 101 on order, can I connect my phone and helmet to ride command? How does that work? They are both bluetooth. Or do I need to hardwire my phone via USB port? Thanks.
Great question! They will both connect through regular pairing for bluetooth! There is a USB port for charging or Ipod use as well. You will be able to see what music is playing, as well as who is calling you, and all sound will be heard through your helmet. A big difference is that the new 2025 Scouts use the FTR control cubes and so the toggle to control the music will be different than the Chief models. But the function is the same.
As the owner of a 2023 Challenger Dark Horse I am going to be polite and just say that Ride Command needs A LOT OF IMPROVEMENTS. I, and by its reviews many other owners, have stopped trying to deal with Ride Command and use either our Apple CarPlay or go without. It's unfortunately the worst, especially when I consider how much I love the rest of the bike. But thanks for the video, I did learn new things!
Over here, we have heard both sides of that. We definitely have customers who have said they wish it was faster, more responsive, and as seemless as their phone, but on the other hand, we have had others who absolutely love it when compared to Harley's system and have never expressed any issues whatsoever.
@@indianmotorcycleofelcajon I appreciate your reply. Maybe I have a bad unit in my Challenger. The GPS is slow and often not only doesn't recognize any addresses, but also doesn't know where we are half the time. The trip computer is cumbersome to load, stops tracking halfway through my rides, and won't upload rides to the app. I do like the Community and Service Schedule functions.
It might be worth looking into an update if you have not done so. Maybe both a software update as well as a map update. ridecommand.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/app/display/PII-7-IND/region/world/subregion/world/download/
What a beautiful machine, and nice review.
Thank you!
Thank u
You're very welcome.
Flashing screen isn’t a good look for a demo I once had my razor s screen freeze Polaris sucks and so does Indian lol
The flashing screen is just because of the frame rate of the video taken. It has nothing to do with the quality of the bike.
The main beef I have with this system is the laggy response and insanely slow startup time. Every review I see of this system mentions the the slow startup time. Are you all planning to address these issues in future models? I would be inclined to forgo this for the standard analog kit.
No idea what you mean by laggy response. All of ours are pretty responsive. As for startup time, I don't know about you but when I turn my phone on, it takes a minute to boot up. However, if it makes you more confident to stay with the analog display, go for it. Just keep in mind for the current model year chiefs, you would be getting the smaller engine also.
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE!
Glad you think so!
Hi, I want to know if is possible for the new 2025 ride command for the scouts be able to work on a 2023 scout bobber model.
Unfortunately, not. The 4in display screen comes as an accessory now, but only the 2025 models are equipped for it. I wish it was as easy as a plug-and-play option for previous years, but it won't work.
Hey Christian do Indian offer any kind of variation on the 101 handlebar set up? In its stock set up I think the reach will put me in an uncomfortable position….will there be any kind of “reduced reach” configuration as per previous generation scout? Appreciate any advice. Thanks
Yes! The 101 will come with 6in risers and moto handlebars from the factory. There will also be a 4in riser and a 10in riser as options. But beyond that, Indian Motorcycles will still make the standard handlebars, reduced reach, extended reach, 10in mini apes, and beach handlebars. As far as we know, every one of those options will be interchangeable between the scouts but you may want to change the risers to the 4in i you do any of those. You will also get the new option for mid-control pegs! Best piece of advice is to test ride one as soon as you can and make your own decision based on those needs.

With the new Scout launching and looking amazing. I can't wait to see what they do with the Chief in the future.
From what we're seeing, the new model line for the scout mirrors the success of the new Chiefs. And so far, people are loving both.
I'M very impressed with this information and the new line up for Indian. Very professional and cool. Thanks! Christian you rock ! hey when the BBQ? "Have Apron will travel...
Soon, my friend! Soon! You know we get hungry here.
Can you connect Apple CarPlay?
Unfortunately, Apple CarPlay requires at least a 7 inch display screen so not on this version of Ride Command but the larger version, yes.
@@indianmotorcycleofelcajon So ride command on the scout 101 will not allow me to navigate from my phone or listen to music?
Yes and no? The Ride Command on the new 2025 scouts will allow you to control the music from your phone in your helmet from the left control cube, and full navigation with turn-by-turn directions will come with the bike. But you will not be able to use Apple CarPlay. That is reserved for the larger screens. So any navigation planning will have to be done either on the Ride Command screen or the Ride Command Website.
That was a good video, but the subscription for Ride Command + will not work for the 4" displays. I had the subscription and the traffic worked. Still, the weather did not. Traffic works without the RC+. I finally got a hold of Indian Headquarters, who told me that the RC+ is not intended for the 4". Kourtney is the gal I talked with. They refunded my subscription fee.
Corporate told you that? That's interesting. check out this link to the Indian website. Scroll down and you'll see which features are attached to the 7in vs the 4in. As well as what you should be able to do on the App vs the Website. But I'm glad you liked the video! Anything else we might have missed? www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/touch-screen/
Love those Indian motorcycles❣️ They just keep getting better and better👍
Couldn't agree more!
I was about to order the scout 101from the Fort Lauderdale dealership and found out they closed. Too bad because it was 10 miles from my home. So i scooted north to Indian in Hobe sound pre ordered and should have by the end of June. It's about 60 miles from my house a little inconvenient but worth it.
That just means you get a nice little ride in every time you visit! Congratulations and ride safe!
This was a great tutorial! After pre-ordering a 2025 Scout 101, I learned today that my local dealer (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) has closed and had to get my deposit back. I’m so bummed! On a positive note, keep up the great content.
You can always pre-order one with us. We've shipped to Florida before. No problem.
Thank you for this. It's really helpful and answers a lot of questions I had. In the navigation pane, is it possible to pre-plan a route in advance, with the exact turns and destinations, and then show the pre-planned route on the map?
Great question! I should have covered that part. The 4 inch display does not give you the ability to pre-plan a route, BUT you can do it on the Ride Command Website. Once you create the route on the website, you can then select the route on the screen shown at 10:31 in the video. Ride safe!
@@indianmotorcycleofelcajon Awesome. That seems great. I can plan the exact route in advance on the website, download it to the bike, then ride the route! I'm down with this! Many thanks once again for showing off the tech here.
1: that tac is useless as tits on a bore hog! WHEN that tac goes out your bike is a giant paperweight! I am so tired of useless disposable technology! I want a set of gages and I want a cable throttle! I want a bike that I can depend on and work on. 2: The only rodeo any bike should have is communication. You have to ride like you're invisible because people don't see you. If you have music blasting in your ear then you're not going to see or hear the guy behind you that didn't see you stop! It sux when you have to dive off your bike and watch it get eaten by a vehicle! Format and start over guys!
Well, believe it or not, the vast majority of riders don't want to spend unnecessary time wrenching on their bike. They would rather be riding. And it sound like you've got some pretty bad experiences with your previous choice of motorcycle. You should give an Indian a try. And don't worry, we still have some pre-owned with analog gauges and cable throttle for all the traditionalists out there. Ride safe!
Motorcycle is not for you, all those things you don't like in the Indian you can find them on the Old harleys since you like to play mechanic!
Such stupid comments! Why do you want to buy a bike to just work on it ? SMH Nothing you mentioned makes any sense in today's world. Get out of the 60's easy rider. If you don't like the features such as the Bluetooth, then don't use it. It's an option not a necessity. SMH Geez!!!
There is no such thing as the sport chief dark horse
Matthew, we use that term of trim level to help people understand the differences when comparing the Chief Dark Horse, and Chief Bobber Dark Horse. Those two, plus the Sport Chief, all have the same engine, frame, and technology. For most, that makes it easier to value the suspension upgrade and accessory changes.
I wish I could afford one
Deals are made everyday, my friend. Let us know what your needs are and we will do our best to make it real.
Nice presentation. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
I need to check them out. I bought my Scout Bobber 20 at Indian of San Diego, but El Cajon is actually closer to me. With the Scout redesign, I'm likely going to move on to the Chief Bobber Darkhorse for my next Indian.
Stop by whenever you'd like. We have a 2024 Chief Bobber Dark Horse and a 2024 Sport Chief, both in Black Smoke, ready to go right now.
Light years ahead of Harleys
To infinity and beyond!

Its out now! Right now! 2025 Indian Scout line was released on April 2nd! Go check it out!
@@indianmotorcycleofelcajon yea i know... i was expecting more but well is not bad at all

No problem 👍
I want to download a ride I built on the Ride Command WEB site. I want to load it onto a USB memory stick. The directions I found state "3. Go to MAPS > MORE MENU > IMPORT/EXPORT. Copy To USB." I cannot find my way to MAPS>More Menu on my Ride Command WEB site. How do I do this? I have a 2022 Chieftain Limited. The Ride Command software says it is up to date.
Hey, William! Great question. Here is how to do it: 1. On the Ride Command Website, you plan your route as normal: Set your stops in the proper order and click the boxes for any "Avoid Routing Options" then click "Save" 2. Once the route is planned and saved, on the left side of the screen you will see a button with an arrow pointing down to a line. This is the "Download" button. It can be found to the right of the "Edit" and "Share" buttons and under the "3D Flyover." 3. Once downloaded, move the gpx file to your memory stick and there you go. But there is an easier way: As long as you are logged into your Ride Command Account on your motorcycle, any saved routes that you have created on the website should auto-populate to your Chieftain without the use of a thumb drive.
I have a 2023 Roadmaster Limited. I was looking for the HomeLink stuff but can't find it... is that something I can get at all? Do I need to purchase that? I really like that feature.
2017 and newer Indian Motorcycle models are prewired for the Garage Door Opener but only 2020 models and up can use it though the Ride Command. Once you purchase the module and install it, the widget will show up on Ride Command. The same goes for the ClimmaCommand Seat and Heated Grips. You may not see the widgets now, but once it is hooked up to the wiring harness, there it is.
@@indianmotorcycleofelcajon Thanks! I had assumed that but it's nice to hear that's the case. Ordered my HomeLink so I'll install over the weekend!
Ugly and poor attempt to copy the Harley
Total Indian w
Agreed.
Why is the chiefs 116 rated at 120tq and the chieftain 116 rated at 126tq ? My 2019 TS 111, rated at 119tq. What gives?
The easy answer is different tunes exist for different sizes of bikes. The Sport Chief is 100lbs less than a Springfield Dark Horse and 200lbs less than a Roadmaster, both of which have the 116 Thunderstroke.
The 4 gallon tank is a deal breaker for me. Otherwise, there is a lot of bike for the money.
We're glad you appreciate it! There are definitely some bikes better built for long distance cruising like the Chieftain or Challenger. Would you like a walk-around of one of those, next?
I have gotten close to 200 mile range, not sure what's the deal breaker is this is not a bagger or cross country Bike, but it can do it wiithout an issue, and most important, the seat and the 6 inch risers, this two items is what just about every owner changes. i have done 10k in 8 month to 2,000 miles weekend rides!
Since when is the Sport Chief called "Sport Chief Dark Horse"? Can't remember anyone in Indian calling my Sport Chief as a "Sport Chief Dark Horse".
Yeah just a technical name through Indian. We use it to point out that all Dark Horse trim levels in the Chief line have the 116 and Ride Command. Helps people to compare it to the Chief Dark Horse and Chief Bobber Dark Horse.
I like the Indian because it is still a true air cooled motor, not even an oil cooler (as far as I can tell) and it's got premium suspension parts although I'm not sure about the pretty radical angle on the rear shocks. Kinda wished Indian had gone with a softail style single spring. I may get the new HD Icon "Hydroglide" just because it's such a looker.
I highly recommend an HD FXLRS, it’s an awesome handling cruiser with the spirit of sport bike in the twisties 👍🏻.
In this example, you are correct. An oil cooler does not come factory until you get to the Chieftain and Roadmaster models. As for the suspension, come test ride it! The way it absorbs the road is a dream!
Definitely a great bike!
Why would that be a good thing?
