Ohhh I was wondering why my jam plugs couldn’t fit into my plates. I have a bolt on toe stop on my skates, which apparently is a 5/16 size and the jam plug I got was a 5/8 size rippp. I’m glad I know now, just too bad I can’t use them 😭

I realize this is an older video but I’m going to try my luck at a response anyway. When I was a teen I went skating every weekend. I bought my own skates but my friend told me the wheels were crap so he gave me a set he wasn’t using. They were on the smaller side and white. I used them and never had any issues. Fast forward 30 years and I am now taking my kids skating and getting back into it. I’m going to get myself a set of skates as I don’t have the ones I had as a teen. After some research I believe the white wheels I had as a teen were sure-grip all American plus. I remember my friend making a big deal about them being made of vanathane. I’m currently looking at some rollerbones nitro 97a. If I was on the all Americans as a teen would these nitro’s feel too soft to me? The rental skates I have been using seem too soft and make me work too hard. It seems that the all Americans rate around 101a is there that much difference between a 97a and a 101a? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I don't know if you will see this since its a two year old video, but I'm middle aged and want to get into skating again. No dance moves here, I just want to keep my hips and knees healthy and not get hurt if I fall down. So from your video I need wide, soft wheels, wide toebox, low heel and padded ankle. How do I find this skate without paying a fortune for custom?

Hmm, sorry for asking for what might be obvious: so you had to change the plate for a bigger one, which means the plates the setup comes with are not necessarily ideal, right? (i am eying a discounted setup...) thanks a lot!

That's so cool you guys just went for it. I just got some quads this year, I've been wanting to skate for a while but always held back for similar reasons- who cares if I look silly or inexperienced or don't really know what I'm doing, I just want to have fun and besides youtubes got me covered.

I switched to flats (bonts/vans) because heel boots triggered my back and foot pain. Now I can skate for hours!

How about outdoor skate set ups for ankle support and light weight plates etc…. I guess just everyone’s skate set ups for quads❤❤❤ thank you for explanations!!!

I read this somewhere on Reddit about someone sleeping in their skates to make up the breaking them in time 😅 though I don't think that's actually how it works I am too excited about skating am going to try it 😂

Please help me! I just bought new wheels and when I tighten down the nuts so they're tight enough, my wheels won't spin anymore. I loosened them a bit so they could spin and the nuts will not stay on, I can still spin them with my fingers. I took them out for a spin like this and 3 of my wheels fell off when I was skating. So essentially, I think the wheels are a little to wide. Is there a fix for this outside of replacing my new wheels?
