Back in 1993 there were two Hannah-Barbera properties being considered to be made into a live action film. One was the Jetsons, the other was the Flintstones. Despite the popularity of the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises at the time... they chose the Flintstones, apparently because someone though John Goodman would make a good Fred. The critics panned it but it did well at the box office. IMHO The Jetsons would have done even better.
