I remember Christmas 1979, but that was outside Queensland for me. I remember a guy saying to others on the CB radio that he got all his Christmas grog in one package deal for $ 124.00 [ I think it was ], and so he had it all sorted. I remember the advertised offer on the local radio or TV. And I was thinking, " What ? Crazy ! ", but someone assured me that such is basically what they mostly do, even if some of us, like myself, don't.

Exactly, as a child and young adult growing up in Sydney I have very fond memories of the few visits we had to relatives in Brissy. I refused to believe it was a city but that is what they called it, complete with corner stores everywhere that had all but died out in Sydney. The trains were so clean and people so friendly. Every visit without exception there was a "that would never happen in Sydney" encounter. Regrettably Brissy is falling fast and isn't much more than 20 years behind Sydney now

It's quite pleasing to see a piece like this. The vast majority of comments underneath UA-cam's 'vintage content' are written by people who praise the past and piss on the present. You'd have to be cuckoo bananas to do that here. The price of international calls back then was extortionate and obscene. Not just that, the lines were so bad that the people you called might as well have been on Mars.

I fly FPV with my EasyStar I and this is my preferred (meaning 99 out of 100 flights, lol) method of takeoff. I run a very powerful motor and prop combo (1700kv motor and APC 8x4E, ~350W wide open) but she's a fairly heavy girl so some power really helps on takeoff. Since I do both belly skid takeoffs and landings, I keep the underside of the plane layered 2x with heavy duty Scotch packing tape. When the outermost layer begins to fray, I peel it off and replace it with fresh. Packing tape not only protects against wear and tear, it also greatly reduces friction, making such takeoffs much easier than with bare foam. It also vastly increases crash durability.

first time i spent over an hour in a pine tree with tight branches, second time i was lucky and able to reach with a ladder. third time this happend it was at the camp wich was good but it had to park itself in the tallest popular around. had a few beers considering just leaving it there till the weather took care of it even at the expense of the electronics. well sitting there drinking and looking at igot me inspired ,rigged up a fishing rod- set it in free spool, tied the line to 5/8" nut and used my sling shot to set the line over the plane, just had to pull it down. i even caught it. this is now part of my flight (crash) gear. if you run the nut/line through the "y" of the sling shot you can quickly hit the brakes with your hand when you get on target. damn i love beer !
