I read Blood Scion last summer. It was really good! It has a fabulous audiobook. The second one, War Widow, is supposed to come out in September.
Oooh fantastic! That’s great to know - maybe I’ll read it around then, in preparation 🤗
Great variety in this month TBR! Never heard of Gods of Jade and Shadow it seams interesting. And I'm excited to know your thoughts on the horror novel because horror is either a big hit or a big miss for me. Also I thought Shatter Me was a romance series??? Where in the world did I get that from 😅 Wishing you a happy reading month!❤️ ❤❤
It was a good one this month, wasn’t it - some great genres! I have a friend who has read Gods of Jade and Shadow and she said it was so surprisingly good, so I’m intrigued as the synopsis doesn’t give much away 🤔 Mmm agreed, I love to be scared/disturbed, and I’m feeling good about this one, so I’ll give my thoughts very soon 🤗 Hahahaha I have no idea!! Does it persuade you to pick it up?? Thank you so much 🥰🥰 Do you have anything that you’re excited to read this month?
I really liked Dark Matter! Hope you enjoy it, too :)
Oooh that’s good to know! Thanks Jess
So glad you found a challenge that kept you motivated! You'll be able to celebrate your first month on booktube with a pretty well completed January TBR 🎉 It must be so challenging to put yourself out like that, I really admire you. I have not read any of these book as I rarely pick up fantasy, but my little sister only reads this genre and I wish I could buddy read with her. We did it once and we had so much fun (even if we both disliked the book lol) Maybe you could do a video of fantasy recommendations for new readers if you feel you're knowledgeable enough about that.
Thank you so much Kim 🥹🥹 can’t believe it’s been a month! It’s been so fun, and it’s really helped having someone around regularly watching and engaging - truly makes it feel worth it 🥰 That sounds like a great idea! I’m definitely still finding my feet with fantasy, but I do have a recommendations that are easy to get in board with that aren’t too complex, so I’ll add that to my list 🤗
What a difficult week for you 😢 I don't know what Wing Stop is but I am sure you deserved it. For reading vlog I think both theme reading and mood reading are fine as long as you're having fun. I liked your in depth analysis of the dancing tree so even if you only read a book and a half to me it was a successful reading vlog. Hopefully you'll find your balance soon 😊
Aw thanks Kim - the food definitely helped a bad situation 😆 thanks for the feedback! That’s super helpful to know
I have a book journal since 2020 and I love it! I have many challenge spreads which I don't care about completing them or not, I just think it's fun to fill. I have the alphabet challenge like you, also books and lala's buzzwordathon, the cover rainbow challenge, a world map to colour for each country that I read from and even a challenge to read books inspired by my favorite celebrities lol. I tried once writing down every day that i read like you have but i could not keep up with it for even a month 😅 Hopefully you'll be better at it than me haha 😂
Oh wow, there are so many more challenges out there!! Maybe I should add some more 🤔 I’m actually going okay with the pages a day so far! I’m a sucker for stats 😂
One of my personal goals for this year is to read every day or at least every couple of days. It would help if I had your dog to cuddle with me too lol. Excited to see what book you pick up next!
Love that as a goal! Haha he definitely makes a great reading buddy 😍 thank you Kim, appreciate your support on here x
I have had A Little Life on my night stand for the last 4-5 years thinking that it is the book that I will read next but then I never pick it up. I really have to get to it this year 😅 I know it's a difficult read but I want to cry too lol I had never heard of Wool, Yours From the Tower and The Star and the Strange Moon and they are going on my TBR. Thanks for the recs! Also, I wasn't interested in Mexican Gothic and The Lost Apothecary but now I'm intrigued, I liked how you presented them. I have the same opinion as you on Riley Saget. I read only one of their books and I can't even remember the title. It was fine, but I definitely expected more from an author that is talked about so often. And I am happy to know that I am not the only one who didn't vibe with The Bell Jar. I even DNF'd it. I understand the importance of it but I don't get it I guess. It was a fun way to hear you talk about all those books, I really enjoyed this video.
Wow, thanks for watching, and leaving such a detailed comment - so glad you enjoyed 🥰 Well, if you fancy a good cry, maybe now is the time for A Little Life! Like I say, though, you may have to push through the first 10%, but it’s worth it. Oooh yay, so glad I could provide some recommendations! You’ll have to let me know what you think when you get to them 🤗 So interesting you agree about Riley Sager and The Bell Jar - I think for both, perhaps we were anticipating big things and let down 🤔 I think this year I probably need to take a leaf out of your book and DNF more!
Congrats on doing your first readathon! I think reading challenges are fun but I can never get the motivation to do one 😅 How weird that your book was misprinted like that 🤔🤔 I heard a lot of conflicting opinions on Magnolia Parks. It sounds interesting but I think I'll skip it as stream of consciousness books are usually a miss for me.
@@kimtremblay1607 thank you - it was actually quite a challenge! I would say, if you have a weekend completely free, you could give it a go and just not put any pressure on yourself - was a nice way to spend the weekend 🤗 Yeah, I’m not sure you’ll like MP then, as it’s a little rambly tbh - undecided on whether I’ll continue the series or not; will depend on how it ends I think!
Welcome to BookTube! I adored Magnolia Parks and it’s not something I would normally read. Excited to hear your thoughts :)
Thanks so much for watching, Jess! 🤗 I’ll be reading magnolia parks in a reading vlog very soon 👀
So sad that you didn't like your last books of the year 😢 hopefully it won't continue in the new year. I also ended the year with a 2,5 with The Courtesan by Alexandra Curry. I was exited to finally get to a book that had been sitting on my shelf for three years but as it progressed it only lost my interest more and more. At least the one before that was a five star with First They Killed my Father by Loung Ung. And I don't know how you can read stories involving your phobia 😅 with the deep see ambiance too 😂 Looking forward to better reads for you!
I knowwww, what a rubbish way to end the year!! Such a shame about your 2.5 too… Hoping for us to both get some better reads this year 🤗 Good news is my first book of 2025 is looking very promising 👀 Hee hee, it’s definitely a morbid curiosity - shark films are also a firm favourite of mine 😆 Thanks for watching, Kim 🥰 really appreciate the like and comment x
Welcome to booktube 🎉 Looking forward to your first reading vlog ❤
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment 🫶🏻 I so appreciate it! Hoping to post a vlog on Saturday ❤️
