ISAAC STERN & CARNEGIE HALL - 60 MINUTES (CBS; 12/14/1986)
My wife's grandfather was a career nuclear submarine engineer. He said one of the most nervous moments of his life was going in to see Rickover.
We used to refer to Judge Morphonios as "The Time Machine." Rest in peace, your Honor.
A modern john the baptist. Told the truth against all comers
Visionaries are rarely accepted in their time. As a great man he naturally ruffled lots of feathers. RIP Admiral Rickover.
It was Rickover who shut down the thorium reactor program at Oak Ridge labs in 1970 . Had we continued with thorium we would not be in the vulnerable energy state in which we currently find our selves.
Love her patience with him. She knew how to handle him.
Smart Man
Jimmy Carter never completed nuclear power training, and never served on a nuclear powered vessel.
His father's death had just a little to do with timeline. But u seem to have a hidden agenda here. What is it?
@@migmadmarine As someone who DID complete the training, and DID serve on such a vessel, I resent that he was given credit for that accomplishment, and not correcting the record. Plus, he was a DISASTER as President.
Nuclear reactors and politics dont mix. Either do it the RIGHT way, or get lost!
Never saw him in navy blues or dress whites
Everyone should read "Blind Mans Bluff"...it's a factual account of how his Nuclear Subs outperformed the Soviet Navy and pulled off some incredible feats that kept us safe .
A jerk. Should have sacked him in the 60’s
They need someone like Rickover now....
Interviewed with him in my senior year, 1971. His stance on education was that you were responsible for anything you had been taught at any time. Had 3 interviews before I got to him, testing me on courses I had taken, including freshman year Chemistry. Challenging.
The supreme irony is that it's exactly SOBs like Hyman Rickover who get things done in the world--not the "saluters" or the "orders" men. Rickover was the Navy's George Patton.
Why do we pander to these idiots?
good rules for the kids (also common sense) but tried to become a tyrant, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
What an odd family. It’s awful to see what greed, power, and corruption can do to people. Even family.
We need more men like him.
Amen
If you don't l8ke him..ship out..abrasive..brash. A hardliner...Brilliant and takes no prisoners !!!!
Lets face it folks we all love Cynthia and not Yoko!
"USE ALL YOUR EQUIPMENT YOUNG MAN"!
Guys like this are absolutely awful. Beyond ruthless. Good job Reagan for firing him.
And what NNPS class did you fail out of?
@@johnjones5354 none. you were in one?
I wonder if a guy like this could possibly survive in the swamp that Washington has become, or the Woke experiment that the Navy aspires to be? The man was legend.
A great man
Yoko was his handler
That guy would get shown the door today.
Fun fact-James Earl Carter as a young Lieutenant served under Rickover.
as did many thousands. Aint that somethin?
@@victorblock3421 whatever Clyde.
Rest in Peace President Carter
This came on right after Superman II in 1988.
Rest in peace, my beautiful John Lennon You were an angel on earth and now you have your wings, but please know that we will always love and miss you
Yoko should be the only one called Mrs. Lennon because she is a kind hearted woman who truly loved John just like he loved her She helped him improve his self-esteem and she made him very happy by giving him a wonderful son Cynthia was a horrible woman who never loved John and she would do everything she could to hurt him She had many affairs while John was touring with The Beatles and let’s not forget that she had an affair with Magic Alex , who was supposed to be one of John‘s best friends And when John finally decided to divorce her, she started poisoning Julian‘s mind against John Whenever John would write letters to Julian, the demonic Cynthia will mail them back to New York, and then she would lie to Julian telling him that his father never cared about him She was a big liar and I don’t like the fact that she is accusing Yoko of getting in between her and John‘s relationship Cynthia was an evil witch and if her relationship with John ended, it is because John had enough of her mistreatment of him I will end this comment by repeating that Cynthia Lillian Powell was a witch and a liar, and I hope that she is not resting in peace I also want to say that she did not deserve to be married to a sweetheart like John Lennon so I am very happy that he met the beautiful Yoko May John rest in peace, and may God always bless Yoko and Sean
If she was BLACK there would be a different scenario now......
People didn't like YOKO because foreign older and independent artist.....
The goat!🐐
UGH SOUNDS LIKE MY MOM, I HAVE A YOKO FROM NORWAY. JULAIN IS AN AMAZING PERSON SO WAS CYNTHIA. I strongly understand Julian's life. In any interview I have ever done, I always say Julian, that was my life. Yokos God, how he sucked it up to stay strongly close to his brother. Evil women making his son pay hundreds of grand on even post cards sticking evil Yolo. Idc who she is. I haven't an ounce of respect for Yoko
I just came here to see how he actually spoke, as opposed to Larry David’s version
"I would have worked hard at any job I had." Motto of the 20 percenters.
Yoko witchcraft and drugs
I agree. She was & still is a goldigging (sp) witch
Here in January 2025, he would fit in very well with his disdain for the system and drive for excellence. I can comment because I was a Navy nuclear EM in the 1970s and subsequently as a commercial nuclear professional.
It's because of this man and the training I received in the program that I retired comfortably at 57.
My ex-husband saw this program and said, "If I didn't know better, I would have though Mayor Koch was the emotionally disturbed case."
Thank you so much for posting this… I’d heard of this interview but hadn’t been able to find it. Such a tremendous light
When we had real news anchors!!
And Julian was treated horribly by John.
@@gconyers you are so wrong John loved Julian and he did everything he could to try to see him However, the demonic Cynthia would do everything she could so that father and son would not have a relationship Cynthia was an evil witch
@@gconyers Julian was not treated horribly by John John loved Julian very much and he always tried to see him However, Cynthia would do everything she could to stop father and son from having a relationship Cynthia was a horrible woman
After only seeing May Pang's pictures it was a crack up to hear that New York accent
He was truly in love with May Pang I wish he would have stayed with her Yoko screwed that all up
Cynthia is so discerning and articulate
10 percent that they are Is this a joke😂
John was self destructive, a classic example of trading DOWN in marriage. There is no comparing these two wives, Cynthia was in a class of her own.
0:35 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
