Good luck! You are fortunate to have the new style t top because mine has broken welds in 4 places. Im getting quotes not to get it replaced and they are in the 5k-7k range. Not fun!

You can thank Obama for tearing down all the oil rigs. He did a thing called operation idle iron and demolished tens of them out of Freeport in 2008-2016. You need to find reefs and wrecks. tpwd has a whole list of public numbers. I would recommend going to the VA fogg/ liberty ship area. 28°35.718' N 94°48.688' W that whole area is pretty good. This was almost 50 miles out which is how we caught b liners. This year we are having to go further to get good snapper.

I do not have a windlass. Since I have installed the tolling motor, there's never a reason to need a windlass. also the front cleat is not useable anymore. I do carry an anchor and would use the front hook where it attaches to a trailer if needed. I also custom made this with a piece of starboard.

It still works great. We used it today out of Galveston and no issues

Absolutely love it for what we use it for. Fuel economy is great, its large enough for 4 maybe 5 people on flat days for fishing. But its not a 28ft and sometimes you do feel small out there. In the gulf of Mexico sometimes storms pop up, ive been in 2 and felt safe but didn't want to do it again. We use it for tubing and wake boarding, have a trolling motor and grill on it. Its a good family boat for 75k

We’ve got one it’s good great for sandbars and fishing in general we’ve been 35 miles offshore bottom fishing feels safe but doesn’t feel like a 30 footer there’s a difference if you want to do nearshore fishing or inshore fishing or cruising around having a good time it’s the boat for you

these are the rigs out of Galveston to the north east 14 miles. there are about 5 or 6 of them out there

By now all the commercial and for hire guys who fish everyday have wiped out most of the fish close by. You have to have small honey holes to pay off.

Oh yea. You'll be able to bomb those baits out to left field with that set up. The 30 lb braid will be like theres nothing there and you'll cast pretty far. Pole will do great. Tight lines man!!!

What line will you be using? Depends on the quality of the line. Also how long is the pole you will be using? I prefer braid at 50 lbs. With a 10 ft pole and I can cast pretty car with 6 oz weight and my bait.

There is the one off of bolivar peninsula. In august there are a bunch of jack crevalle at that rig. Other than that one most are farther. On a calm day it's no big deal.

Do you know of any good guides to take me there..looking to going there in March same time? Traveling from Nebraska

@@robertmartinez8475 it depends on what you are wanting to catch. In March it's the middle of the Black drum run. You can do that from the jetties. Also weather days to go offshore like this are few. You can catch these fish (sheepshead) at the jetties. I would look into classic rock charters with Jose Ruiz or Reel Hard Fishin out of Freeport with Paul Pennington. The better fishing will be the further south you go if looking for true offshore trips. If you do something in the bay, Galveston bay complex will do just fine.
