This video explains all the rotation options for cabinets with Mame for users who have a rotating (left or right) monitor or not with Horizontal, tate90, inverted or tate270 setup.
I use the dev v42 of Batocera but theses options exist since the V32 with a TV monitor where I turn it for the 4 positions. I test each time one horizontal game and one vertical game.

This is the ROTATION you need when you setup is given by : NORMAL, TATE90, INVERTED or TE270
1 : None
2 : Clockwise (Right rotation)
3 : Counter-Clockwise (Left rotation)
This is your monitor setup :
1 : NORMAL
2 : TATE90
3 : INVERTED
4 : TATE270
