What type of grass do you have?
what awful grass seed to have weeds in. i live in the UK and have never seen weed seeds or other crop seeds listed. why would anyone buy that seed.
Yeah, excellent video on grassy weeds. Thank you, very informative.
Very informative and useful.
I live in the southern piedmont area of NC. I have been attempting to reestablish my lawn with cool season TTTF. It has been a trying experience. Almost all parts are influenced by some degrees of shade. I have tried several brands of turf seeds like Pennington Rebels TTTF in both full sun and dense shade mixes, Scotts sun and shade mix, Defiance XRE TTTF, FIVE STAR TTTF. Our soil is a clay sand with gravel mixture. Each seeding was preceeded with plug aeration, seed, fertilizer followed with some form of raking and irrigation. It's been a challenging. Of the mixes creeping red and Chewings have been the fine fescue seed and in most areas have survived better than the TTTF's in both shaded and sunny areas.
Hi, How long did you wait to cut the grass after the overseed
Great video!
By far the best video describing the differences in cool season grasses!
I feel like I have all these
Great Info!
How do I get a whole list of these HERBICIDES AND WEEDS as I have most in my yard. I am 79, trying to get yard back in shape. Had it serviced by Virginia Green, but they did not kill the "strange weeds" as they said it was permuida grass....and it is not. I would have done better by buying Scott's and have someone put it down. TODAY, very hard to get someone to do small chores for a reasonable price...people do not want to work. Thank you so much.
Great video! Very informative. I felt like a student in a classroom listening to the professor speak on turf grass Lol
Great video, very helpful. Thank you!
Great presentation, direct and to the point. Thank you.
AMAZING VIDEO!
Great overview! Thank you.
How do you control/kill panic veldt grass? I have tall fescue
I live in PA and most of my yard is kbg. I’m not a fan of it because of how high maintenance it is. We had a few weeks for high temps and no rain, and my yard died. If you don’t water it often, it really struggles. My local plant nursery really recommended perennial rye, so I might switch to that sometime. Great video tho. Very helpful!
I live in jersey by the Delaware water gap. Same thing my hole lawn is dead. So mad
Nice job. A mini course in grassy weeds.
I was not expecting such a great video Because of the format in which you shot it But looks can be Deceiving. Absolutely great video thank you
none of those look like what i have in the northeast.looks like clumping fescue without the clumping.
No one wants to talk about the way he says color? ok then.....
wow, great content 😎
U have great info!
Josh: I have a grass that grows in patches and looks like your fescue except it lays flat and has a mow hawk toward/in the middle of the patch. Any ideas?
fantastic. liked. love the breakdown of conditions under which the grasses grow best. doing a great job, keep it up!
What great advice thank you.
Knowledge is Power ! Thank You 🙏
Merci beaucoup, I’m in Montreal Canada and I spend a lot of time working on my lawn every summer (love it). Wanted to learn more and you surely gave an incredible course that answered all my problems (type, dog, etc.). Front Kentucky and backyard Tall f. Thanks
Good Information 👍
Great discussion. Very helpful. Thanks.
Josh - First off, I wanted to sincerely thank you for an absolutely superb overview of the cool grass types. I was looking for something I could send to my son - a first time home owner - about lawn types. And yours was perfect. Hats off to you! There was one thing I wanted to comment on when you spoke about th 90:10 mixture of tall fescue and KBG. My understanding is that when figures are quoted like that, it's based on weight and not seed count. And because tall fescue is much larger and heavier, that 90:10 mixture actually works out closer to a 50:50 mixture by seed count. I learned this when I ordered just such a mixture from a highly regarded premium seed supplier. And I must say that the TF/KBG mix has been fantastic, offering the best qualities of the two types of grass (i.e. hardiness and rhizomatic growth).
Hi, can you tell where did you ordered your seed from please? Im on the same boat. Just bought a house and looking to start the lawn from scratch with a quality seed for better results. Previous owners had carpet for low maintenance. Thank you
I chose tttf for my front lawn and keg for the back!
Whisky for my men and beer for my horses...😛
Love your content, please keep it coming (watching in Fall 2021)
Ya done a good job
great information
Thank you. You video is informative for me. I just laid new sod yesterday of tall fescue and overseeded. We will see. I'm in zone 7a. It's mid fall. Temps in the 70s. A little rain. I have never done this before. So we will see!
Which grass would you recommend for a lawn located in a higher latitude of the transition zone? My lawn has mostly tall fescue but it’s too coarse for my taste.
What's with the super blurry images? And I have never heard people pronounce color as keller.
Thanks for a very straightforward presentation.
Best pre-em for poa annua is an idaziflam product like specticle flo. It's pricey, but it's the best
Love your pages you printed for your book. Where could I find that site?
great video. I never seen a thorough description like this. Now I know what is what in my yard. Half my front yard is always in shade because of a neighbor's large tree and now I know it's fine fescue as it folds over and the other half or yard is all sun all day and it's mostly kbg and rye. it was terribly hot this summer and the fescue survived with all the shade it gets but the other half needs to be re-seeded and now I know what's what...great job!
The images are horrible quality
Any recommendations on where to find rhizomatic turf type tall fescue?
really good video
What’s a Keller?
You have a lovely, mellifluous, radio announcer voice! Thanks for the well organized information to help me choose a new lawn.
Kentucky bluegrass or perennial ryegrass is the only consistent grass to grow for lawns and are from europe. Fescue might be a native plant to minnesota but it is not a LAWN TYPE. Hence why before Europeans arrived, there was no such thing as a LAWN
It is depend on personal reference. I had Kentucky Blue grass and it is expensive to maintain. I went with Turf type tall fescue and non regret! Whatever you like it, go ahead. After all, it is just lawn.
Tall fescue becomes invasive. It grows in thick clumps but is uneven with the other grass surface. I also noticed that the only other grass to be annoying is the fine fescue. This is not only slippery when wet, but it grows in clumps and seems to be the only grass to penetrate into tall fescue clumps
You probably refer to k31
Excellent video. The best I've seen on cold climate grass types. Thank you!
